Walters to start over Johnson (1 Viewer)

I assume the team will be asking either Walters or Johnson to replace Fitzgerald rater than moving Boldin into a different position. The same concept as someone stated above about "why put two perople out of position" as an argument for Johnson into the slot. Boldin will be th emost heavily targeted WR, but, IMO, his POSITION won't change. And, if you watch Fitz play, there is not a chance in heck Walters can play that position. Johnson can - in fact, that is EXACTLY what he did in the last game- he played Fitzgerald's spot and Boldin stayed where he was. Finally, it is MUCH easier for a player to step into the third receiver role (ie - the spot inside one of the outside receiver) than to learn the number one wideout's spot. And, there is NO WAY 5'7" Walters can work the outside routes. You may be generally correct about slot receivers, but, in this instance, it is beyond ridiculous to ask Walters to play outside for the Cards.

Walkters simply is not good enough to be on the outside - he needs to be in the slot. 5'7" and 174 lb speed-based receiver who's got VERY little starting experience on the outside? When there is a 6/2" 200+ lb receiver to put outside instead?I don't think so.
Let me get this straight, you think Troy Walters should be in the slot ??? 5'7" (or 8) 174lb speed reciever in the slot !? I would put him outside all day and let BJ play inside where he can do alot of damage. Let TW on the outside and use his speed on streaks and post routes.
Yes - in the slot.Speed receiver as the third - witness: Miami had Chambers and Booker outside, wes welker inside. Small speed receiver gets the WR3 hot read from the slot. How is a 5'7" speed smurf supposed to work the sideline against the other team's #2 CB? He can DEFINITELY get separation as the WR3 in the slot, working against LBs, safeties and nickels.
Sorry but I no longer believe its that hard for a "smurf" or a speed WR to get off the line of scrimage as a SE. Your larger more physical WRs work just as well in the slot and you see teams doing it all the time. Play BJ in the slot gives you a much more experienced player working the inside of the field against Chicagos fast LB's. I think you will see BJ play in the slot at times this weekend but I could be wrong.

P.S. - I HOPE it complicates claims - I am praying for Johnson to fall to me with my #10 priority waiver claim. I bet a lot of folks in my league will shoot for Herron as their first choice.Any news that diverts attention from Johnson is good news to me.
Didja get him?I did, from the 10th spot. He's sitting next to Fitz on my bench right now but might start for me on Sunday against Da Bears instead of the Jets' Jerricho Cotchery.
We close waivers tomorrow at 5 p.m. eastern and the waivers are automatically processed at that time.I have to consider whether I want to claim Welker along with BJohn. I know BJohn will be a temporary upgrade from Engram at WR5 when I can stick him next to my WR1 of Boldin into the WR3 spot, and maybe a long term upgrade. I am not sure Welker will be, but I have the feeling he will be.It sucks to have a strong team - you gotta make a lot of decisions where you drop decent players. Seriously considering a zero from my TE spot this week and just shooting for Johnson, Welker, Leinart, and TE Des Clark. If I don't get any of them, I go w/o moves or a TE this week.

For what its worth the Z-WR is the flanker and is often the featured receiver in an offence.

Considering what Leinart may know right now he could lean heavily on BJ.

BJ may be gold for the next 3-4 games.

Wow...Johnson actually fell to me at the 10th waiver slot (12 teamer). I am suprised as hell. I wonder if the news about Walters possibly starting scared folks away.

Maybe the next few weeks won't be so bad..........

I was shocked to see him fall to me at the #6 slot. People are either scared of Walters or asleep at the wheel.

Was Fitz listed as the top Z-WR last week? I find it odd that he is listed as the top H-WR and has the injury ( ) around him. Why wouldnt they leave him in the top Z-WR spot and just have the ( ) around his name?

Agreed on the surprise ... he fell to me at #3, but the Fitz owner (an active WW user) had the #1 WW priority  So - is anybody starting him against the CHI defense, or is the consensus that we're all picking him up for week 7 & beyond?

I'm starting him, but only because my other option for this bye week is Drew Bennett at WR4.

I will probably sit him for this week and go from there. Although there is a chance I might plug him in as I have Roy Williams and Coles, and if either comes up lame, I would have to decided between Johnson and Furrey. I am looking for Johnson to do well in the weeks after this one.

Update: Fitzgerald (hamstring, doubtful) is feeling better and could only miss one game, the East Valley Tribune reports.

Recommendation: Despite the doubtful tag, the newspaper says that Fitzgerald is out for Monday's game. He did not practice on Wednesday but was walking around more comfortably than he was earlier in the week. Head coach Dennis Green said that the hope is for Fitzgerald to only miss a game or two.

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald sat out practice with his bad hamstring, but he was walking much better than he was Monday and Green expressed hope that Fitzgerald’s injury would only keep him out a game or two. Fitzgerald is officially listed as doubtful for Monday’s game, but he won’t play against the Bears. There remains a chance he could return for the following week’s game in Oakland.

Damn. I think I wasted my WW pick on BJ then. :wall:

It depends on if you own Fitz or not. If so, the I think not having your stud miss 5 weeks more than makes up for it.

Back and forth it seems. Thinking Johnson gets the start and Walters sees lots of time since the Cards go with lots of 3 WR sets. However ... they need to protect Leinart so the TEs and FB might be featured a bit more this week.
