Anybody hear anything about this guy? Is he going to play this year or will Brunell be the starter and the only way Campbell gets in is due to injury or poor performance from Brunell?

Tough to say. With all the offensive signings of Lloyd, Randle-El and Fauria, Campbell woudl have a nice surrounding cast to help him out at the beginning.

Brunell continues to play well. As long as he does and the team keeps winning. I have to assume they arent going to switch this year. If he gets hurt, suddenly struggles, or the team starts losing then Campbell gets some experience.
Best case: Campbell progresses so much in camp that they begin to give him some game time like the Falcons did with Vick or the Giants did with Eli. Next year they could open up the case for Campbell to start. They cant afford to this year after Brunell surprisingly led them to the playoffs.
Now that the Redskins have three capable (?) receivers in S.Moss, Randle-El and Lloyd, does is matter if there is no QB to throw it to them? Does anyone think Brunnell has another season left in the tank to make them perform up to FF value?
Having not properly researched the topic, I can't really make an informed opinion on it other than what I've seen of the Redskins this year in highlights and versus the Bucs twice (since that is the team I most heavily follow), and the analysis of the Redskins' offseason.
I was a Redskins Hater all year long and it wasn't until their playoff beating of the Bucs that I actually started to give them credit for the season that Gibbs put together.
I believe Brunell has another year left, because he really wants to win now. I know that sounds faulty, but it seems like all of these signings have set them up for two runs at the Super Bowl under Gibbs: one this year with Brunell and one next year with Campbell.
I think he can perform like last year, which was OK overall, if he doesn't get hurt. If he gets hurt, or if he begins to throw ground balls again, then I think we begin to see Jason Campbell. That will mean more mistakes, and it may or may not mean more yards and TD's.I think the Redskins plan is for Brunell to continue starting until Campbell seems ready to take over, and then it's his team.
I wouldn't be worried if I were a Redskin fan. Brunell seems pretty solid, and by the time Campbell is needed he will be an upgrade to Brunell. Physical skills are comperable to Brunell's -IN HIS PRIME-. He also learns quickly as evidenced by his ability to learn multiple schemes while at Auburn as they had an O-coordinator/philosophy change nearly every year and Campbell absorbed them all. Decision making is solid, arm is solid, accuracy is solid and mobility is solid. Not spectacular in any category except maybe his ability to learn the system, but hardly anywhere is a weakness to be found. In my opinion, while having no 'off the charts' abilities he is so capable w/o many weaknesses, he should be a near-elite NFL and fantasy QB. Top 10 - no problem.

When healthy, Brunell is an above-average QB who is cool under pressure, makes good decisions, throws accurately, and has enough of an arm to complete deep passes. He also can still scramble enough to elude pressure and make plays with his feet at key times in games. So yeah, if he's healthy he's a valuable QB to have. My take on this is that Campbell is capable of starting and should do ok. Gibbs' track record with younger QB's (who admittedly are usually older than Campbell) is that they tend to come in and hit the ground running - Rypien is a good example. This offense is a QB friendly offense that tries to simplify things for the QB and minimize the number of decisions he needs to make. Dennis Green ran much the same offense in Minnesota in the 1990's when a variety of marginal talents put up some good numbers there.
I think Campbell ends the preseason as the 2nd stringer and Brunell begins as the starter. But Campbell should be a definite handcuff for Brunell on your squad, espcially given that this promises to be at least a good passing offense.
