We quickly forget the gaffes of the winning coach (1 Viewer)

just thought I'd point out to all the bashers of BB leaving Hobbs 1-on-1 on Burress that NYG coaches defended Moss 1-on-1 just 2 minutes earlier on 3rd and goal

and it might have even been a worse decision because NE at least brought the house theoretically forcing a quicker throw

and i have no love for NE, just thought i'd point out how quickly we forget the bad moves by the winner

I thought that was horrible, but they more than made up for it by how well they managed the clock on the last drive.

You can't double everyone, with no blitz Spags decided to double Welker who was killing them,IF Webster doesn't fall down MAYBE he makes a play on the ball and it's a good call. I gues it just goes to show NO ONE is PERFECT!

Moss was not Moss all day. The Giants were hitting HARD on noy only Manning, but everyone. Other than Welker, no one seemed to step up on O for NE.

The fact is, NE forces you to pick your poison. You double Moss? Welker had been killing them. Sometimes you need to take a chance and with the pressure the Giants were generating, I can't nitpick on a play where the defender fell down in anycase.

I don't think the coach was expecting the defender to fall down.
falling down or not, you still dont guard Moss 1-on-1 on 3rd and goal, especially when Brady looks at Moss and nods his head before they set to snap the ball Brady nod translation: "Yes, Randy that is single coverage you see, I can't believe it either"

Honestly, I think covering Welker inside the 6 is more difficult than Moss.

Mos has speed to his great advantage but Welker runs better routs IMO. Yes Moss has the hight and leap advantage over anyone, but an extra defender won't really cancel that out and an over-the-top jump ball is a little more difficult (and less used this season) to pull off. Plus you had to account for the RBs in the flat, TEs, lots of options you have to take your gamble somewhere.

And it's not like Moss had done much during the playoffs.

He probably would not have fallen if he were covering me. I think covering Moss one-on-one was a contributory factor to Webster's slip.

It was nearly impossible to defend. AS others have pointed out, Welker had been killing them - had to be doubled. Moss has had a very poor play-off showing. No sense in assuming he suddenly would revert to regular-season form.

But, on the play in question, even though the defender fell down, Moss had him beat to the inside - probably a TD even if the defender holds his ground. And, had the defender covered the inside route, it probably would have gone to Moss in a fade. Either way, it would have taken a double team to stop.

So, who do you double - the guy who has been beating you all day, or the guy who can beat you on any given play?

Nor I, though I still didnt like the coverage in that spot.Id rather see gaffney beat as the third look, (the way we were rushing the passer) than moss catch that ball. I said to my brother before the play as Im sure alot of others were thinking... Moss loft back corner or moss quick slant both almost impossible to cover 1on1.
