Weather: which games are you concerned about? Locals chime in! (1 Viewer)

Now that we're in December, this seems like a thread we should have pinned each week.

Anyway, what games do you have your eye on? Any games with severe cold/snow/wind that you're worried about? Any players that you're considering benching because of the weather?

Edited to add: Locals please chime in with any weather updates!

Saw a forecast cold and 18 mph winds in Cincy w/gusts 30-35. Doesn't Hartley have enough trouble when its calm? :-)

saw that as well- Brees may have problems today will probably stay short/intermediate on routes..

Hartley only misses the easy ones. Today, in the severe cold and winds, I predict he goes 7/7 with field goals of 39, 43, 47, 51, 55, 59, and 71. :goodposting:

Seriously though, this is a game to keep an eye on. Most Saints homers doubt that Pierre will play, so that leaves our RB corps at Bush, Ivory, and Jones. If we can get the running game going, I imagine we'll stick with that. But that's a big if, so I wouldn't be shocked to see Brees being forced to throw the ball as usual.

right now it is fine here in Cinci - just cold and a bit of snow from yesterday. There is no wind. I'm 10 minutes from the stadium

Thanks for the info.I think a little snow or rain helps the passing games significantly, but too much kills it."

Gonna be pretty cold and probably very windy Monday night with Pats/Jets. Snow could also be in the forecast. Its @ 20% chance right now.

soooooooo looking forward to watching this game, basically the exact opposite feelings from last week. snow would be even better!!!

Cold, clear and fairly windy in north Jersey.
Wanted to restate that it will be relatively windy for the Giants / Redskins game. And rumor has it that the wind in the new building will be worse than the old.... and Eli tends to struggle in the wind. McNabb usually does well in the wind, but you can count on his usual 5 dead ducks. Just an FYI.

Any Baltimore homers around to chime in? Saw severe wind gusts? Thinking Pitt keeps the ball on the ground with big bens foot and the weather issues.

Any insight from Kansas City?

I'm actually considering starting Cassel over Brady because of the anticipated weather in New England...but don't want to make the move if weather will be just as bad in KC...

yeah just read 15mph with 29mph gusts (why not an even 30? i dunno). 29 mph gusts enough to push a field goal attempt astray?

Fine in KC - weather service says sunny and high 30s, no rain and winds less than 10 mph

I would support this, and wouldnt even need weather to help me decide. Cassel at home against Denver with the #s he's been putting up is a solid play. Only drawback is KC might just run the ball all day. NEs gonna rely on their short passing game to get things done vs the Jets.

Weather reports show 16 - 24 MPH gusting winds in Green Bay. Any homers have any insight? No way you can sit Rodgers because of this, right?

The field in TB is horrible. They played a college game on it yesterday and the divots and footing are horrible. TB Williams, you are now on my bench for Moss.

This is a pretty big deal, surprised there hasn't been more talk of this. I'm just dumb...so, what happens when the footing on a football field is super terrible, the pass game goes away? the run game goes away? Judging by the above comment we need to downgrade passing games, at least the ones on the fence (i.e. TB MW, but probably not Roddy)

A wide receiver or a running back knows where they are going.A defender reacts to that movement.

IMO the former has an advantage over the latter.

Interesting points, though aren't RB directions pretty dynamic? Make a cut and end up with brukken ankles? I feel like maybe Blount and Mike Williams TB take value hits, though per your point above maybe Williams isn't a bad play.

Anyone that is making a decision based on Weather this week is making a huge mistake.

The snow in Cincy was yesterdays news. It was from a clipper that has moved on. Today you might see a flurry or 2 but nothing worth benching Brees.

In Nashville, TN it is 35 degrees and no snow can accumlate.

BNA Airport is reporting Overcast and some near by locations have Light snow with visibility at 5.00/ 6.00 miles which is very light snow

in Foxborough, I have no clue where some of you are getting an idea that it might snow. It will be cold, but it always is this time of year in NE.

The one valid concern here is the field conditions in Tampa Bay. That is the best post in this thread
