Week 1 Bonehead plays (1 Viewer)

In the past, Joe has always had a "Bonehead Plays" thread for items to include in his weekly column. Didn't see it this week, so I thought I'd start one. My nominee:

First series of the new season, Browns have 4th and 13 at their own 17. First, they line up in an illegal formation, then the punter (Ernster) lets the snap go through his hands. While he's chasing it down inside the 5 yard line, 2 different Browns hold their guys to prevent them from getting to the ball or Ernster, and one guy starts downfield early, apparently unaware of the fumbled snap. Ernster finally retrieves the ball and gets off a rugby-style kick that toes out of bounds on his own 32-yard line. After sorting out the 4 penalties (and figuring out which official gets which flag back), the ball is spotted on the Browns' 22 for the Steelers' first possession.

Not really a play, but seeing Romeo Crennel trip/stumble on the sideline had me rolling. I watched that about 10 times. :lmao:

1. The punt bouncing into the clueless Bears coverage guy

2. The surprise shotgun snap bouncing off Romo's chest

Very comical seeing the Oakland lineman fall on a loose ball fumble on the last play of the game. Literally looked like he was in slow motion

Cam Cameron trying to run Chatman up the middle from the 2 repeatedly with Ronnie Brown standing on the sidelines glaring at Cameron. They did end up scoring with a sweet pass to....PEELLE. :lmao:

This lost the game for the Bills after Elam missed the game winner the first time. I have Lee Evans and would have liked nothing better than for him to catch the long one and win the game, thus getting me something......but this play call was absolutely ridiculous and gave the Broncos those last few seconds to get that kick off.

1-10-BUF 33 (3:32) 23-M.Lynch up the middle to BUF 36 for 3 yards (58-N.Webster).

2-7-BUF 36 (2:51) 23-M.Lynch right end pushed ob at BUF 38 for 2 yards (55-D.Williams).

3-5-BUF 38 (2:43) 7-J.Losman pass incomplete deep right to 83-L.Evans. Overthrown, receiver at DEN 10.

They took 41 seconds off the clock with one running play....so the clock could have been down to 1:29 before the punt.

BY FAR THE WORST PLAY CALLING OF THE DAY!!!

Wasn't there also a play where a big TE (he wore #80) tried to pick up a loose ball and try to run with it, only to fumble it of course, and the defense recovered? It may have been near the end of a 1:00 game.... can't remember what team it was or if it really factored into the outcome. You gotta love when a guy with no hands tries to pick up and run w/ the loose ball rather than fall on it. These guys have only been taught that their whole lives. Definitely a bonehead play.

From NYG-DAL last night - the Tyson Thompson KR fumble

The kick is fielded and four guys join hands to form a wedge and start running right. As Tyson comes up behind them a Giant is approaching the left side of the wedge, fast. The outer left guy then inexplicably lets go of the others and start running left as if afraid of his life - allowing the Giant to penetrate, tackle Thompson and strip the ball.

Arron Brooks drops back to pass and lets go of the ball on the #### back before throwing. Oh, he's not playing this year? Wonder why?
