Week 1 Waiver Wire Targets (1 Viewer)

In my 12 team league here are the only guys available that are worthy of a ww pickup:

Pittman

Randle-El

Carter

Chatman

McDonald

Garrard

Morris

Of these there's not much I love. Pittman could be a starting RB for a few weeks if Caddy is hurt so hes obv #1 priority.

Garrard basically shouldnt be on the WW in any league.

Randle-El was targeted often but I just cant see using him often.

Carter is a great pickup. Could be targeted often in the red zone and deep routes. Hes who Im going after.

Chatman actually was used in RBBC so he should be owned.

Morris was used quite a bit.

McDonald was thrown to a ton but I cant see much consistency for a #4 WR. Unlike what other poster said, he is not this years Furrey cuz Furrey was a starter last year.

I'm think Curry or Welker!
What kind of leagues are you in where Curry and Welker went undrafted?I havent seen a single name of a guy that wasnt drafted in any of my 3 leagues other than MAYBE A. Peterson (Chi).
I'm in a 10 man league. Do you think I should drop one of my WRs for Curry or Welker?10 team/H2H/Non-PPR/performance leagueLeague starts QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, RB/WR flex, TE, K , DEF 1 pt for each 20 pass, rush & rec yds. 6 pts for all TDs.Roster:QB - C. We have 30 man rosters and of the guys mentioned only these guys are out there:J.AvantD.CarterE.GrahamS.McDonaldThough I'm not sure I'd want any of them other than to try and sell them off high...

Antwaan Randle El

Bobby Engram

Shaun McDonald somewhat, but too many WRs on Detroit.

What's the deal with Jason Avant and do you expect him to continue to put up numbers?

Who is this John Broussard guy and what is his role in Jacksonville?

A couple of thoughts on some of the guys mentioned here:

McDonald is questionable because the Lions spread the ball around today. Hard to tell who will emerge there after the big two. Furrey had 5 for 52 yards also.

Randle-El has done this before. I'd like to see some consistency from him before I'd bump someone from my roster to get him. Buyer beware!

McCown could lose his job any second. Too many QBs in the mix in Oakland. Curry's success could be tied to McCown's fate. He looked for him often.

If the Vikings or Packers DST is on your wire, then jump on them immediately.

Avant's a #3 on a team that likes to look at TE LJ Smith and WR Westbrook often . . . I will pass . . .

Shaun McDonald - the Mike Furrey of this season.
 I actually drafted him.
Im a big McDonald fan - but it's hard to play the guy because you aren't going to get consistent production from a #4 . . .
He could be the #3, and a deep threat. I agree, in 90% of the leagues out there, you'll never start him, but (knock on wood) an injury to Roy and McDonald's stock soars.

Randel-El

Chatman

Pittman

Those are the only 3 I've seen thus far that were not drafted in my league. Heck, Welker went in the 6th round.

Randel-El is the only one I'd consider. Chatman and Pittman have no chance for consistency. Even Randel-El's numbers were skewed by the 60 yard hail mary.

Drew Carter
What is the story here, is he now the WR2 in Carolina or just the WR3 who got some key targets this week?
2 TDs out of 3 catches is hard to read. Is he the latest redzone guy, or did he just get lucky today?NFL opening weekend is known for lightly regarded guys blowing up, then showing nearly nothing the rest of the year. We used to call this the "Don Beebe" effect, until Beebe had been out of the league so long that many people had no idea who we were talking about. During the Bills' "K-gun" heyday with Kelly, Reed, Thurman, etc., every opening weekend for 3 to 5 years Beebe would blow up for two or more long TDs and a ton of yards, setting off a waiver wire scramble for him, only to see Beebe score maybe 3 more TDs all season.Floyd, the former fullback for the 49s, is a more recent example. For a couple of years, he had a multiple TD game on very few carries during opening weekend, only to do nearly nothing else the rest of the year.

for deeper leagues - avant might not be a bad idea... he looks like he's going to get 5-7 targets a game and if he makes the most of those - he should get more...

in leagues with fewer teams - chris brown and curry if available.... and maybe this nyg RB if jacobs is out

Only two mentioned here who were not drafted in my league - and that league had only 15 roster spots for 10 starters. They were picked up as FAs during the games in exchange for a defense and Greg Jennings.

:( I dont know if hes that good, or just covered by a bad db, but man he got thrown at a TON.. seems like every series he got 1-2 looks.

the guy would be a good #3, so he has to be an EXCELLENT #4 - still, it would be hard to start him . . .

Avant and Ward weren't drafted in the league I commish. However, they were picked up before this weekend. :towelwave: Perhaps the largest disadvantage of large leagues is the lack of WW fodder.

this makes zero sense, he is the 4th wr on their team :towelwave:he is not going to catch 90 some ball in Detroit

Sammy Morris. It looks like he will get a decent number of carries each week and if Maroney goes down he could be huge. In my RB starved league, I think he could really pay dividends down the road.

You like Morris better than Dayne and Peterson (CHI)? Same situation with injury prone starters...

Pittman and Ward should be picked up.

Curry should have been drafted.

Morris and Chattman should be off waivers already, if not they are solid pick ups.

Carter...I don't know depends how desperate you are at WR. 3 catches and 2 TD's seems flukish IMO.

Peterson and Pittman are already drafted. I would rather have Morris over Dayne. I do not like Ron Dayne and will never be able to bring myself to having him on my team. Plus, the Pats offensive line was completely dominant today. Whoever has the chance to run behind that line will be a solid starter -- can't really say that about Dayne in Houston. Morris had some good games in Miami last year so I think he would do the same in New England if the opportunity presents itself. He would be my RB 6 if I get him on my roster, but I really like his upside if Maroney goes down.
