Week 10 Desperation Plays (1 Viewer)

Apologies if already a thread and if so please point me there.

Who has best chance to blow up, heard some talk of L Robinson, any one else people think could go from zero to hero?

I don't know if there has been any change today but if Beanie is still banged up Hightower could be decent. Keep in mind decent when talking about an AZ RB is 50yds and chance at a TD.

what about j jones against jags awful secondary? jags do play better at home, but has long TD potential. obviously depserate as all other guys mentioned off WW already

Jacoby Jones and Mike Thomas. For Jones, the Jags just got weaker on defense now that Kampmann is out for the year. Return leagues will get even more value out of Jones this week if it turns into a shootout with ample kick return opportunities.

All the RBs I've seen so far in this thread are rostered. I need a RB3 this week with BGE likely looking at a second consecutive 0 in my league's scoring and here are the best options available. As you can see, it's mighty thin:

Cadillac Williams - still getting carries but if the Bucs play from the front it could be all Blount.

LaRod Stephens-Howling - my league rewards individual return TDs which gives him value but even if Wells is out or limited he may not get more than 5 touches.

Javarris James - if he scores you're golden; if he doesn't you've been kicked in the nads. See Willis McGahee last night.

Keiland Williams - sounds like Portis might play Monday night and if he does Williams has no value. But if Torain and/or Portis have a setback tomorrow he could be a nice pickup - especially in PPR leagues.

Derrick Ward - so much for the talk about him cutting into Foster's carries. Unless 2-5 carries and a real hope for a touchdown do it for you.

Mewelde Moore - unless you really think that getting 2 points in a PPR league is what you need I can't see why you'd bother.

I think keiland Williams has a chance to do something...and again I like LaRod. He is super fast and will be spelling Hightower until Hightower fumbles again, then he may get to step up. Between the two of them (Both are real reaches) LaRod has the better matchup.

Those are the two I'm looking at. I like Williams but if Portis plays I don't think he'll do anything. I agree that Stephens-Howling could be a real surprise. Hightower didn't do squat last week as the starter and the matchup is real good. What concerns me, though, is Hightower stunk last week and Wells was hobbling and Stephens-Howling still only got five touches.

I hate getting mixed up in the crazy wacky world of Shanahan....I worry about any offensive player on AZ but I think the matchup is better, At some point LaRod is going to bust loose....I think this is the week.

I agree about Shanahan. I went through his RBs messes in Denver in the past. I'm really feeling Williams but it's all contingent on Portis and with some Redskin beat writers thinking Portis might play that really kills Williams' value.

Of course, this is Shanahan so all three could be active and Williams could start and get 20 touches.

WR------Anthony Armstong 5 rec. 70 yards and a score

RB-------LaRod Stephens-Howling 60 yards rushing and receiving and a score

WR- Nate Washington - Moss did wonders for Welker

RB - Cadillac Williams - Panther's lost their MLB..their bad run defense just got worse.

Everyone on the Keiland Williams waive length need slow your roll. I have S-Jax, Mendy, Beanie, and Keiland. Mendy is a must start, Beanie is currently banged-up and can't be trusted this week, S-Jax has a tough match-up. Keiland would be an excellent choice IF (underscored) he got the full load. With the situation still murky and a Monday (underscored x2) night kick-off, tell me...... Which of you are that brave, that you would pull the trigger on Williams under these tentative circumstances? If you wait on Keiland and Torain starts, your other guys have already played Sunday leaving you with a great big glazed donut.I'm going with Mendy and S-Jax.... Along with Orton, T.O., Stevie-B, Mike-T, Dez, Dreessen, Scobee, and da Browns.Reserves..... A-Rod, Beanie, Keiland, Jacoby-J, Jacoby-F, James-J, Murphy, Ajirotutu, Gates, and da Yaaiiddahhhsss (Chris Berman - NFL Primetime).By the way; tied for second at 6-3 in the WCOFF Main Event League 66 ('Jersey draft). Lost one due to roster management or lack thereof. Lost two due to the fact that my opponents those weeks fielded beastly line-ups and were unbeatable no matter who I started.Good luck in the playoffs. Yes playoffs. I'm talking playoffs.'Nation.........Oh yeah... One more thing.Week 11 is our final week to submitt waivers. I'm dropping da Browns (no pun intended Toilet enthusiasts), possibly Keiland, and possibly Jacoby J (I drafted him and he's shown me nothing thus far - this is his final week to prove something) for Redman (Mendy handcuff), Darby (S-Jax handcuff), and Starks (potential GB lottery ticket).

I think it depends on your situation. For me, I have Green-Ellis who plays Sunday night so I can wait until then to decide if I want to start Williams. That gives me all day today and then tomorrow to hear about any possible news regarding what may happen Monday night. If you have any combination of the Redskins' three RBs you can wait until Monday night if you want and see how it all shakes out. While I think Torain will get the majority of touches no matter what happens, desperate owners in PPR leagues could get some decent production potentially out of Portis or Williams as the third-down RB. Everyone else who may be waiting on Williams probably needs to go off the practice report today and any subsequent reports we get from Redskins' beat writers.

News FlashRedskins RB Ryan Torain (hamstring) is expected to start Monday in Week 10 against the Eagles

Said coach Mike Shanahan on Clinton Portis (groin), we won't "take a chance if we don't think it's in the best interests of him and the best interests in the team. That's why we're evaluating it." This comes after Saturday's practice, and at this point it appears Torain will be the team's lead horse with Keiland Williams backing up.

Not sure if this falls as a "desperation play" but Woodhead is a good play in PPR...he should get a majority of the snaps v PIT and get at least 5+ receptions. I see 60-80 tot yds, 5 rec, possibly a rec TD.

Nate Washington?Ramses Barden?
Desperation plays to me are guys you would never think of starting except in dire circumstances - most of the guys in this thread have been decent starts for at least one or two weeks this season . . .Barden is intriguing, and it would be a desperate play, BUT he may get looks opposite Nicks in the redzone . . .

Mike Goodson
Just do not see it with the Goodson love, D-Will and Stewart can't do anything so why can Goodson? I know Bucs have bad run D but Panthers are just atrocious, I doubt they even score a TD this week.
Thus the term "desperation" play
I picked this Goodson clown up and may start him over Brandon Jacobs. The difference between Goodson and Deangelo/Stewart is that nobody can come in after a big run and steal carries, they are all hurt. They signed Brown. They one that every other team has signed and then cut but I can't see him even touchign the ball.Maybe if Goodson can break a few runs, they will wake up, smell the coffee and when Deangelo comes back, they won't pull him out after every 8+ yard run he has...if there are any 8+ yard runs in the team.

A Minnesota reciever named Greg....but not sure if it will be Camarillo or Lewis

Moss gone; Rice not activated; Harvin certainly a better receiver but a headache could put him on the bench at any moment

Starting Mike Goodson at RB2 along side ADP because Felix Jones is terrible, Javarris James gets limited touches and Pierre Thomas is dead to me.

Starting Mike Thomas because Welker hasn't broken 10pts (.5ppr) in the last four weeks.

Deion Butler in a PPR ... huge bye/injury crunches. He's facing a defense that gives up big plays to WR's at times.

An interesting thought from the Colts blog www.18to88.com

10. Watch for jumping Ship. And by Ship, of course I mean Bengals wide receiver Jordan Shipley. You might as well call the rookie out of Texas Brandon Stokley's little brother. With Terrell Owens on one side, and Chad Ochocinco on the other, Shipley lines up in the slot and is free to roam and find the open space. This season Shipley has hauled in 28 passes for 396 yards, averaging a very productive 14.1 yards a grab. With Powers and Hayden lining up over the Bengals mercurial stars, Jacob Lacey will have to cover Shipley. Lacey likes to jump routes, so watch him on Ship. Good ol' Ship.

I like it- Jordan Shipley might be the sneaky play of the week.
