I think I'd have gone for it there if I was SD just because of the time factor. The Colts are in great shape now, just need a FG and have plenty of time to play with.If you go for it, you have an opportunity to bleed some clock and a chance to win in regulation. It's a risk, but I think the math there would give you a higher probability of winning by going for it rather than kicking the FG.You gotta kick the field goal here, right?![]()
Yeah, I don't see LT getting more than 1, maybe 2 TDs the rest of the year because of this sort of play calling.Dang shame they don't give it to LT on the 1.
I pretty much always say go for it... but not here. You have to put the points on the board and hope you defense holds. If they were closer to the endzone, go for it.I think I'd have gone for it there if I was SD just because of the time factor. No. What if the guy carries him 10 yards back before his feet touch the ground?I don't understand the placement on the harrison catch. Isn't the rule "where the ball is when he gets two feet down"? He actually goes backwards a few yards before he gets his second foot down.
Please make this FG

Yep. Colossal mistake. Could actually ruin the Charger's season. The clock would be out if Norv hadnt called TO before kicking the FG.
Thank youCha chingPlease make this FG
yes, but the TO was horrific...could have bled 30 more seconds off the clockSo, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?

i was wondering if that's what the previous poster was alluding to... no brainerSo, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
No. When your season is on the line you put the ball in your best players hands. He didn't and deserved to lose for it.So, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
Right call, wrong time out. It's the time out that's catastrophic. I'll say it again: it probably ends the Charger's season, unless the Broncos follow up today's loss with a total meltdown. There won't be any wildcard teams from the AFC West. So, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
agreed, but the colts would've likely taken their TO there anyways... then who knows what would've happened on the next IND drive...Bad coaches panic when there is a decision to be made. Norv immediately called the TO because he needed to decide whether to go for it or kick it. It really wasnt that hard of a decision but he called time out anyways. There was likely about 15-20 seconds of play clock left when he called time out. IDIOT.
:X big time on the colts FG to get to 20Refs helped a lot with this game. A lot.
No, there is some other drama as well. The Steelers and the Jets are in a struggle for the #2 seed and bye week. The only drama left in the AFC is Pitt or Balt in the North and then the loser of that division against the Pats for the last playoff spot. One thing that Madden and Michaels are right about is that the Colts schedule gets soft from here and the Colts are likely a lock as one WC team now.
For one more week anyways. After the Pats beat the Steelers (AGAIN) the Steelers will be concentrating on just trying to win the North. :XNo, there is some other drama as well. Your response makes no sense whatsoever.Forward progress down?I don't understand the placement on the harrison catch. Isn't the rule "where the ball is when he gets two feet down"? He actually goes backwards a few yards before he gets his second foot down.
the issue is they signalled 1st down without a measurement, gave a bad spot before AND after the review and then sat on the ball allowing manning to call 3 audibles before winding the clock and starting play.....Manning was given way too much time there for no reason. Make the right call (4th down or a measurement) then get the next play moving1) How the hell can he call that a 1st down without getting a measurement.2) You people saying the Colts get a free timeout are idiots. They HAVE to review that spot.
I'm trying to think of a good comeback...but I can't. Unfortunately it's true that New England does seem to own Pittsburgh. All I can hope is that we get enough of our offense back on track to beat you guys. It will be a difficult challenge. For one more week anyways. For the 2nd week in a row, this upcoming game is the season for the Pats. They spent a lot of energy in beating Miami. Hopefully Light doesnt get suspended and the Pats have enough left in the tank to get by Pittsburgh. If the Pats are going to make the playoffs, they need to have a tiebreaker over someone.
