Week 12 Game Thread - Indianapolis Colts at SD Chargers (1 Viewer)

1) How the hell can he call that a 1st down without getting a measurement.

2) You people saying the Colts get a free timeout are idiots. They HAVE to review that spot.

You gotta kick the field goal here, right?
:excited:
I think I'd have gone for it there if I was SD just because of the time factor. The Colts are in great shape now, just need a FG and have plenty of time to play with.If you go for it, you have an opportunity to bleed some clock and a chance to win in regulation. It's a risk, but I think the math there would give you a higher probability of winning by going for it rather than kicking the FG.

I pretty much always say go for it... but not here. You have to put the points on the board and hope you defense holds. If they were closer to the endzone, go for it.

sorry but the play stoppage killed SD and won the game for Indy.

this is one of the worst refed games I have seen

Bad coaches panic when there is a decision to be made. Norv immediately called the TO because he needed to decide whether to go for it or kick it. It really wasnt that hard of a decision but he called time out anyways. There was likely about 15-20 seconds of play clock left when he called time out. IDIOT.

So, did Norv make the right call with the field goal on 4th and 2?
Right call, wrong time out. It's the time out that's catastrophic. I'll say it again: it probably ends the Charger's season, unless the Broncos follow up today's loss with a total meltdown. There won't be any wildcard teams from the AFC West.

agreed, but the colts would've likely taken their TO there anyways... then who knows what would've happened on the next IND drive...

The only drama left in the AFC is Pitt or Balt in the North and then the loser of that division against the Pats for the last playoff spot.

One thing that Madden and Michaels are right about is that the Colts schedule gets soft from here and the Colts are likely a lock as one WC team now.

No, there is some other drama as well. The Steelers and the Jets are in a struggle for the #2 seed and bye week.

For one more week anyways. After the Pats beat the Steelers (AGAIN) the Steelers will be concentrating on just trying to win the North. :X

the issue is they signalled 1st down without a measurement, gave a bad spot before AND after the review and then sat on the ball allowing manning to call 3 audibles before winding the clock and starting play.....Manning was given way too much time there for no reason. Make the right call (4th down or a measurement) then get the next play moving

I'm trying to think of a good comeback...but I can't. Unfortunately it's true that New England does seem to own Pittsburgh. All I can hope is that we get enough of our offense back on track to beat you guys. It will be a difficult challenge.

For the 2nd week in a row, this upcoming game is the season for the Pats. They spent a lot of energy in beating Miami. Hopefully Light doesnt get suspended and the Pats have enough left in the tank to get by Pittsburgh. If the Pats are going to make the playoffs, they need to have a tiebreaker over someone. It should be a great game.

Norv Turner definitely messed up by calling that timeout before the field goal.

But how anyone say the Chargers season is over? Even at 4-7, they are still only two game behind the Broncos, who just lost by 21 at home to the Raiders, so the division is still within their reach.

Wow, very disappointing. The 4th game San Diego has lost in the last 24 seconds, according to Michaels.

San Diego really should have played better all season, and there really is not an excuse for that. That said, it is hard to take the refereeing in this game, following the Hochuli fiasco earlier in the season. It feels like the refs have cost the Chargers two games.

And whoever it is that was responsible for keeping Cottrell as DC for so long - not sure if that's A.J. or Norv - deserves a lot of blame for this disappointing season. It feels like if Rivera had been the DC all season, they would have at least 2 more wins, maybe more.

I am feeling pretty bitter right now.

Very frustrated Charger fan here. I've never seen a team lose so many heartbreakers. Several plays were game changing. LT dropping that late pass. Dielman with the false start when it looked like LT was going to have a big gainer. Several defensive breakdowns. Norv calling that late TO instead of milking the clock. Rivers getting stripped from behind when the Bolts were driving. Every call seems to go against SD.

7 losses by a total of 28 pts. No really bad losses - all to good teams. Carolina, Den in Mile High, Buff in Buff, Miami in Miami, NO in London, Pitt in Pitt, and now Indy.

And yet the season is no where near over. SD will be favored in all 5 of their remaining games, maybe Tampa at Tampa being a tossup. Denver will be big dogs at the Jets next week, at Carolina in 3 weeks, and then in SD in the season finale. Their two home games (KC and Buffalo) won't be easy wins, especially considering how they looked today.

San Diego is going to the playoffs. :bag: :blackdot: :blackdot: :blackdot: :blackdot: :blackdot: :blackdot:
