Placed on injured reserve.

Penix aggravated a bone bruise and knee sprain from earlier in the season on Sunday, per Rapoport and Pelissero. Penix also suffered some damage to his ACL in his left knee, which could necessitate a full reconstruction, per Rapoport and Pelissero. "We are working through the medical process to determine the severity of the injury," the team announced later Monday. "He will be placed on the reserve/injured list and miss a minimum of four games."

Ouch - with this injury and the injury to London, I think this really hurts Bijan. Teams are going to sell out to stop the running game.

While I would agree London being out isn't good for Bijan, I disagree about Penix. Penix hasn't played alot in his NFL career, but in his 12 career starts, he averages 31 attempts per game, with a completion percentage just under 60, and about 220 yards per game. In 14 games last year, Cousins had 32 attempts per game, with a 67% completion percentage, and 250 yards per game. If anything, Cousins is an upgrade over Penix, as far as Bijan’s stats are concerned.

I'd rather have Penix in there than Cousins personally.
Cousins looks worse and worse when he plays

Yup and the only game Cousins started this year did not go well for Bijan.

Really? A 1 game sample size?
What I'm arguing is your statement about teams selling out to stop the running game. Is Penix a threatening passer. Are you saying he's better than Cousins? In what way? Neither are running QB's, but Cousins is a far better passer. Cousins throws for more yards and at a higher completion rate. Penix is simply a game manager who does nothing extra to keep teams honest.

No I’m not basing anything on a 1 game sample size. I’m also not going to assume that Cousins today is anywhere near the same guy as Cousins from 2-3 years ago (or even last year for that matter). He showed signs of declining last year. It’s possible he’s even worse than Penix at this point.

Cousin's QB play dropped off a cliff after his injury in week 10 last year.

He finished his last 4 games after that with 1 TD to 9 INTs
In those last 4 games, Cousins faced the #1, #3, and #5 defenses, and still managed to throw for Penix's lifetime yardage and above Penix's completion percentage. My point isn't that Cousins is a phenominal QB - it's that Penix scares no defensive coordinator. Penix isn't a threat to run. He and Cousins are exactly the same in lifetime rushing attempts per game (2.0) and lifetime rushing yards per attempt (2.9). So, if both QB's are no threat to run, who scares defenses more as a passer? The guy whose lifetime pass completion percentage is 59.6%, or the one who's 66.9%? The guy whose lifetime passing yards per game is 197, or the one who's 259?

Again, I'm not trying to say Kirk Cousins is going to come in and play like he did years ago. I guess I'll just be very blunt so it's perfectly clear - Penix is a bust and any fill-in QB won't change the running game for ATL.

Detroit Lions

Out for Week 12 (Unlikely to return this year according to Dan Campbell)
TE Sam LaPorta (back)

Didn't he just go on IR last week? So, at a minimum, he would be out through Week 14 I think.
Apparently he had back surgery
So who's the heir apparent at TE?
Brock Wright, but he’s meh

I read that he participated in Individual Drills today.
Yes. Not sure if that counts as limited or full.
The Packers are kind'a at an "All Hands On Deck" situation, where they're vying for a clear top spot in their Division. I'm sure they'd want him in there in SOME capacity (and I am sure he intends to play). But even if he enters Sunday without a designation, I might still bench him.

Only issue is they play Detroit Thursday. If they had a normal week after, I'd say no question he plays. But this would probably limit him from both games if he plays Sunday.
