Week 14 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

All standard scoring

At QB

Winston @ Steelers - horrible matchup but slinging like nobody's business
Herbert @ Chiefs - don't know what has happened to this dude, soft matchups galore and can't seem to even throw 1 td. Lack of weapons?

In a pickle at WR this week with DK injured again and Collins on BYE. Need to pick something up sadly. Available FAs are:

J.Jennings vs Bears - offense is sinking, not feeling it
J.Meyers @ Bucs - hard to trust but seems involved most weeks
Westbrook-Ikhine vs Jags - good-ish matchup and seems very involved lately
K.Allen vs Niners - up and down but 2 big weeks in a row
D.Robinson vs Bills - third option really on this offense but can come up strong

Thank you

0.5 PPR - have some rough options with 8 players being on bye this week

Need 2 of the following:
Devonta Smith vs Carolina
Travis ETN at Tennessee
Jalen Tolbert vs Cincinnati

QB - I would go with Herbert. Winston struggled against Pitt the first time around at home, I dont see it getting any better on the road.

WR - I would go Meyers here. He has been the clear cut #1 WR for the Raiders since Adams got traded. The only 2 weapons on this Raiders team is Bowers and Meyers. TB is a soft matchup for all offensive players. My next pick would be Jennings. I don't think either of them should be on the WW in a 10+ team league personally.

PPR SF:

QB pick 2: Caleb @ SF, Winston @ Pitt, purdy vs da bears, or Bryce @ 🦅 leaning Caleb and Winston but really not sure.

TE: Kincaid @ rams or calcaterra vs panthers if Goeddert is out?

Flex: Brian Thomas @ titans has to go even with Mac, over Lockett @AZ or Odunze @ SF. Right? :oldunsure:

I know this question seems like a no brainer but I might sit Stafford for Levis this week. Home VS Jax, he's been solid in FF the last 4 weeks. Stafford playing the Bills. Opinions? Thanks

These are the types I hate.

We have Levis QB14 and Stafford QB19 right now. https://www.footballguys.com/rankings/duration/weekly?pos=qb

But it's just like half a point difference. My head would say Levis but my heart says Stafford.

Flex: Brian Thomas @ titans has to go even with Mac, over Lockett @AZ or Odunze @ SF. Right? :oldunsure:

QB: I like Caleb for sure and I think it is a toss up between Purdy and Winston. I lean towards Purdy. I think Steelers will step it up this week after letting the Bengals do whatever they wanted last week + 2nd time seeing Winston at home.

TE: Kincaid. Philly offense is too Hurts + Saquan oriented. Carolina is a soft matchup, but that usually means you never know who is going to get theirs.

Flex: Brian Thomas has a safer floor

I know this question seems like a no brainer but I might sit Stafford for Levis this week. Home VS Jax, he's been solid in FF the last 4 weeks. Stafford playing the Bills. Opinions? Thanks

I'd go Levis, he has quietly been putting up some solid numbers since he came back from injury.

.5 PPR and need a TE.

Otton vs LV (Currently in my lineup)
Ferguson vs CIN
Dissly @ KC

I like all 3 this week, but safest floor has to be Otton. If you are looking for a boom or bust type play maybe look at Ferguson.

Need 1 for flex in non-PPR please. Xavier Worthy v LAC, Tucker Kraft @ DET, Cade Otton v LVR.
Close your eyes and throw a dart. I wish I could be more helpful but, really there isn't much to parse these guys out. They are all 5-7 target guys (hopefully) with similar QB play. That being the case my dart throw probably lands on Otton because of the matchup at home.

Goff V Tua?

I think w/ the Lions DEF so decimated, the offense will need to win it
NYJ (haven't watched) but have I guess a stingy pass DEF although MIA at home
Rolled w/ Goff last week and Tua put up the better fantasy stats.
Can't seem to pick right this year...

Also, Njoku vs Freirmuth PPR

Thank You
I think any way you parse Goff v Tua ends up to be hair splitting.

Apparently Vegas has Lions/Packers as the highest scoring game of the week, which only reflects what they know bettors believe. But, still it's the best bit of info to go on IMO.

Goff.

I prefer Njoku simply because he is incredibly physically gifted. Even with Tillman back he should still see 7 targets and he has as much TD potential as Freiermuth.

I think you have to go with Winston because so much of the offense runs through him.

If it was PPR I would go with Jakobi Meyers (sidebar: His parents are from Los Angeles, right? I mean, I remember the Jakobi & Meyers law firm commercials were running on loop when I was growing up, that can't be a coincidence).

Since it's not PPR I am more tempted by Westbrook-Ikhine, I want to call it a mirage but dude has a TD in seven of his last eight games  At some point you have to believe.

0.5 PPR - have some rough options with 8 players being on bye this week

Need 2 of the following:
Devonta Smith vs Carolina
Travis ETN at Tennessee
Jalen Tolbert vs Cincinnati
I might bench Devonta under the presumption that he will see very limited volume as the Eagles seem content to ride Saquon and they should control this game handily.

Etienne has been such a disappointment but, he has 14, 15 & 16 opportunities over his last three games and those were against the #1, #5 & #10 rush defenses. Tennessee is #16, which isn't a huge jump over Houston but it's big enough to cross your fingers and hope the volume pays off.

I play Tolbert mostly because Cincinnati has been a must start against defense. They're #31 in points allowed.

PPR SF:

I agree with Winston and have no problem with Caleb (Bryce isn't an option IMO). I might consider Purdy if Trent Williams is back but, even then it's hard to get excited about Purdy ATM.

I probably go with Kincaid because his target share has been pretty stable and he's on a high powered offense. The TDs are a disappointment but, I think he has as much chance at ne as Calcaterra.

Yes on Brian Thomas.

I know this question seems like a no brainer but I might sit Stafford for Levis this week. Home VS Jax, he's been solid in FF the last 4 weeks. Stafford playing the Bills. Opinions? Thanks
Y'know, I get it. But, personally I won't bet against Stafford & McVay.

If your gut is on Levis then stick with it but, I'm a Stafford guy here. The offense just is more prolific and Stafford is just better, IMO.

Apropos of nothing, but I have Love/Goff (worked hard for that 5 seed lol) & picked up Levis so I could bench both.

He’s got a great playoff schedule. Maybe it’s finally coming together for him.

But seriously, I’m locked into my spot/opponent regardless of outcome & I kind of don’t want to think about FF whilst watching tonight’s game.

apropos

  1. having no relevance to any previous discussion or situation.

Thursday night battle:
Goff vs GB
Love @ Det
It's a pick'em. I think I may go with Love for two reasons 1) the Lions defense has, quite possibly, been playing above itself with all the injuries & 2) the Packers need this game more.

But you really could flip a coin and be just as likely to get it right.

Mike Evans DNP yesterday and today. I can chalk one off to veteran rest day but not both.
CeeDee is set for limited practice today.

Currently they are my starting WRs.

Should I start Jayden Reed tonight in a big game at Detroit with Doubs out?

Or wait until Sunday?

My options for Sunday are:
Hopkins v LAC
Nabers v NOS

I have no options for Monday if CeeDee is a late scratch. There is also the possibility he starts and leaves the game early.

So tough, your injury worries have beautiful matchups. I don't like the Sunday options much really. I think i'd start Reed and then try to get a feel by Sunday afternoon based on practice reports, as to whether Evans or Lamb are likely to play. If not, then make a late decision on the "lesser" options. Thursday games are tough to figure, you don't want to start someone, watch him do little and then have to stew on it but you'd hate to miss a big game, especially with your other options struggling.

Long story short, i'd go Reed and then take a wait and see approach.

Need 2 of the following:
Devonta Smith vs Carolina
Travis ETN at Tennessee
Jalen Tolbert vs Cincinnati

I think I bench Smith just based on the assumption that they will demolish Carolina handily without needing to pass much. These assumptions often go wrong, Carolina have been more competitive lately but Smith seems to operate well for fantasy on a couple of deep grabs per game and it's just figuring out if they'll be there or not.

With little confidence for the outcome, I bench Smith. Good luck.

Cooper has 14 targets in four games with Buffalo. We all know he has a monster game potential but, it's starting to look like the Bills aren't really looking to uncork that.

Not terribly excited about Devonta either. The Eagles simply don't need him. He's more interesting if Goedert misses the game so, monitor that.

Love Jameson, can't rely on him.

Hopkins is a 6 target guy and you're hoping for a TD against a very good Chargers defense.

I probably go with Hopkins but may pivot to Smith if Goedert is out.

I'll take Aaron Jones as the flex. Can totally see an argument for Guerendo (who I would also start over any of the WR options) but he only becomes truly interesting if Trent Williams is back (getting Aaron Banks back would be nice too).

PPR League. Looking for an answer prior to tonight's kickoff.

Who is the better J. Jacobs handcuff to hold?

* E. Wilson

* C. Brooks

* Nobody

I'm currently holding Wilson, but I think Brooks outsnapped Wilson last week. Also think Brooks is more of the pass catching back.

Or maybe they split and are both worthless so I should dump Wilson for a better lotto ticket.

Which?

Thanks

That happened quick. It makes Devonta more interesting. I still worry this will be a low passing volume game for the Eagles. But your other options aren't particularly inspiring either. I would put him in a pick 'em with Hopkins. Devonta definitely has a better matchup so I probably lean his way now, by a slim margin.

You always come up with interesting questions. This one is a doozy.

Bottom line it looks like Brooks has taken the larger snap share over the last month. It's not a ton to go on but that's what I got.

BTW are we assuming Lloyd is not playing this year?

Lol.

Have to keep you on your toes.

Lloyd just seems like a mess. One injury after another. Seems like a lost year.

O.K Here we goooooo:
FFPC scoring:
Need ONE flex play:

D.Swift @ SF
D.Mooney @ MINN
M.V.Scantling @ NYG
I really wouldn't wanna chase MVS, I feel like the second we start to feel good about him at all, he has a 1-5 kind of week.

Assuming he's playing, I'd go with Swift. SF isn't the matchup to avoid that they once were.

One of my own.

Crunch time in my Home League.

Jayden Daniels on bye.

Superflex QB choice between Kirk Cousins and Bryce Young. Yikes.

Cousins has been great for me at times.

Young was obviously terrible but I love the last bit.

Young would be fun as I just picked him up. Cousins fun for a MIN game.
I like what Young has shown of late, but at Philly is terrifying. I like Cousins matchup more and think he could have a silence the critics type of game. Of course, if he doesn't, he could be benched for Michael Penix, but I doubt that would happen without a week to prepare Penix as the starter.

Standard Scoring ... NO PPR

Pick 1 WR - have Hill in as it sounds like Metcalf is playing

Tyreek Hill vs NYJ
JSN @ AZ

Pick 1 TE - Mahomes is my QB so like the double dip with Kelce, but McBride has been on fire

Kelce vs LAC
McBride vs Seattle

Thanks!
I see no reason to bench Tyreek, he hasn't been his all-pro self, but he's been solid since Tua came back.

Feels weird to say, but I'm not sure a matchup exists right now where I'd start Kelce over McBride. McBride had 12-133 against this defense 2 weeks ago.

K.Murray vs Sea
Goff vs GB
Caleb @ S-F
I like Murray. I think he will play better indoors against Seattle. Also trust his rushijng the most.

Old school redraft with no PPR (just TD's and yards). Henry on a bye, so I need to start two of the following....

N Harris vs CLE
Warren vs CLE

Swift @ SF
Edwards @ KC
Vidal @ KC

Thinking of playing it safe and just starting both PIT backs, with the way that offense is firing on all cylinders. With no PPR, it just feels like I need to cover my bases and ensure that I start the one that is going to score in that game (which could be either one). Would probably pick one of the two and go with Swift if I liked his matchup more. And the LAC backs don't do much for me at this point. Am I overthinking or playing it too safe by considering the "safe" play here?

Edit: The other way of looking at this is that TD's matter more with no PPR. Swift has as many TD's this year (5) as Harris (4) and Warren (1) combined. So, I suppose the obvious answer might be just start Harris and Swift.
Swift and Harris as long as Swift is playing, if Swift is out, I'd start both Steelers.

Full PPR

Devonta Smith vs CAR
MHJ vs SEA

B Allen @ MIA (Breece Hall DNP today and is iffy with some injury)
Pacheco vs LAC (will he get more touches this game over Hunt, and also LAC is a tough run D)
I'd start Harrison over Smith in his 1st game back from a hammy injury.

Unless Hall is inactive, I'd go Pacheco.

Stafford v buffalo
Goff v GB
I'd go with Goff. Better matchup, and better track record this season.

Carr at Giants or Purdy vs CHI?
I'd go with Purdy. Better weapons, and I think its possible as much crap as we (rightly) give Eberflus, his presence could be missed for the Bears D.

Standard ....Darnold vs Atlanta, Tua vs Jets, Russ vs Cleveland. Quite the conundrum & I seem to start the wrong one every week.
I'd go Darnold. There is nobody more due for a big game in my opinion, than Justin Jefferson. This could be a rare game where Miami plays with the lead limiting Tua's attempts a bit.

Would anyone start Jayden Reed at Detroit with Doubs officially out over:

1) Mike Evans now v LVR now apparently nursing a "minor" calf injury

or

2) CeeDee v CIN nursing a legit shoulder injury and is Questionable Monday. I don't have an option if he is a late scratch.

Not that it matters but if I play Reed it would mean I have Goff, Jahmyr, Montgomery & Love all going tomorrow night.
I'm more worried about Evans status than Lamb's. My gut says sit Reed, as long as you have a reasonable option if Evans is out. Reed could have a big game tonight but could also just see his normal 5 targets.

PPR:

Monty vs GB
or
James Cook vs LAR?
I'd start Cook. Better matchup, and he's been a better player overall this season.

PPR need 3 out of

Nabers vs Giants
Hill vs Jets
Reed at Lions
JSN at Cardinals
I'd sit Reed. Yes, he has upside, but he has the lowest floor of the group.

.5 PPR

Kupp vs. Bills
or...
Jennings vs. Chi
or....
Ladd vs. KC

Was leaning McConkey, but him being banged up and playing late is making that a less attractive option.

My gut sez Jennings, wut sez we?
Personally, I don't ever sit Kupp. Given the byes, I think he's a top-8 WR this week.

Need 1 for flex in non-PPR please. Xavier Worthy v LAC, Tucker Kraft @ DET, Cade Otton v LVR.
I wish we knew more about Evans. If I knew he was out, I'd say Otton, but since we don't I think I'd take a shot on Kraft. I think he's got good TD odds.

Very close call at QB, but I lean ever so slightly to Goff. Just feels like a higher scoring game.

I think Njoku>Freiermuth is the every week call since Winston took over.

Full PPR

Guenendo vs the Bears or Marvin JR vs the Seahawks?
Wow. Do we know the status of Trent Williams? He was DNP yesterday.
My guess is he’s not playing more due to the personal reasons than his injury. Guerendo should get 20 touches and a good shot at a TD. Bears D not so great against the run.
I lean Guerendo as well. If for no other reason than volume. But I like him a lot more if Trent Williams is in the lineup.

Very close call at QB, but I lean ever so slightly to Goff. Just feels like a higher scoring game.

I think Njoku>Freiermuth is the every week call since Winston took over.
Thanks Travdogg!!

I'm in a similar spot and I'm riding with Lamb unless Info comes out that I should do otherwise. If its a game time decision, I'm going to add one of the other receivers from that game. There's a couple available. That's my plan.

Thank you
Maybe I'll be wrong, but I kinda worry Winston faceplants this week. Elite pass rush, getting pro bowler Highsmith back. I'd go Herbert against a KC defense that is falling apart a bit of late.

Jakobi Meyers has quietly been a top-15 WR since Getsy was fired. He'd be my call.

0.5 PPR - have some rough options with 8 players being on bye this week

Need 2 of the following:
Devonta Smith vs Carolina
Travis ETN at Tennessee
Jalen Tolbert vs Cincinnati
I think Etienne is the play here. Safest floor.

Right? :oldunsure:
QB: Purdy and Caleb.

TE: As long as he's active, I'd go Kincaid.

Flex: Even with Mac, Thomas is the call.

I know this question seems like a no brainer but I might sit Stafford for Levis this week. Home VS Jax, he's been solid in FF the last 4 weeks. Stafford playing the Bills. Opinions? Thanks
Levis>Stafford, and to be honest that might be ROS, let alone this week.

.5 PPR and need a TE.

Otton vs LV (Currently in my lineup)
Ferguson vs CIN
Dissly @ KC
I think Otton is the right call, with extra upside if Evans is out/limited.

Thursday night battle:
Goff vs GB
Love @ Det
I'd with Love. Just think he's better in general, and matchups aren't dissimilar.

Seeing this situation fully now, I think I'd sit Reed, knowing that you can pivot to Nabers.

Ppr

Pick one wr

Devonta smith vs car
Cooper @ la
Jameson williams vs gb
Hopkins vs la

Pick one flex
Any of the above wr
Or
Aaron jones vs atl
Or
Gurendo vs chi
WR: I'd roll with JaMo tonight against a banged up secondary.

Flex: Guerendo is tempting, but I trust Jones more in a solid matchup. Kinda wanna see Guerendo do it first in situations where I can. Jones has been a solid RB2 all year.

Full PPR

Guenendo vs the Bears or Marvin JR vs the Seahawks?
This is a spot where I'd take the shot on Guerendo.

Need a Tight End:
FFPC scoring:
Assuming J.Ferguson is active:

J.Ferguson vs CINN
E.Engram @ TENN
I'd roll with Engram. He's just proven a lot more.

I can't answer regarding Reed since his game is over. But if you're still deciding between Evens and Lamb, I'd follow their injury and practice reports every day and make a decision on Sunday morning. If both are healthy I'd say Lamb.

You have to play Winston. Denver is a very good D also and he didn't have a problem.

I would pick up K Allen. Bears will probably pass a lot since they have RB injury issues this week.
