Week 16 Weather (1 Viewer)

this is awful.
my thoughts exactly. Alot of Vick owners (myself included) are going to be stuck with mere mortal production from the QB slot in the Super Bowl. I have Andre as well, so this has not been a joyous holiday thus far.

Hopefully, Rodgers can brush off the affects of the concussion and put up at least average Rodger's stats. Weather in Green Bay looks great for late season football.

No doubt as a Vick owner I'm worried. Because of his running ability I still think Vick will get put up some points but I wouldn't expect very good passing stats.

My prediction is Vick 190 yds passing and 1 passing td, 75 yds rushing and 1 rushing td. Still decent numbers...

:lmao: The latest from the local yocals....

After several days’ worth of computer model flip-flops, the big snowstorm possibility appeared likely.

On Christmas afternoon nearly all of the computer models were now suggesting snowfall of at least six inches for most of the area, with higher amounts closer to the shore.

The Philadelphia area is now expected to get eight to 12 inches, with a 30-percent chance of even more.

The heaviest snow should fall late Sunday afternoon and night (which includes the Eagles game). Near-blizzard conditions are possible at the peak of the storm, especially near the Jersey Shore.
ETA: 5oyardfg owns this tread! :lmao:
Oh oh if this is true, I'm starting to get a little worried. We have any data with Vick playing in blizzard like conditions before?
I'm more worried about the tricky Joe Webb-at-WR play than anything right now (although anyone with Akers should be seeking out backups immediately). I picked up Lance Moore as Favre insurance in one of my leagues but I was already on board with benching the likes of Wayne and Nicks for Webb given their bad matchups and I'm not so keen on that idea now. Likely going to roll with Nicks - I have a bad feeling about the Colts in Oakland although I'm still starting Manning. My other league is somewhat more dire in that I have fewer viable options at receiver to slot in for Webb... those being Austin (who plays tonight), Woodhead and waiver wire fodder. I have Miles slotted back in but any additional intel on this storm will be welcome.

I'm still rolling with Vick (although I have Brady available on the bench - I'm beginning to waver) and have ADP riding the pine for Foster/R. Jennings.

<----- Vick aint leaving this guy's starting lineup

This is starting to give me flashback to Kurt Warner 08 @ NE Week 16 though: 6/18, 30yds :lmao:

Warner couldn't run and played in a dome and in Arizona.Guys u can't bench Vick now. You want to spend them next 9 months kicking yourselves? Snow is different then rain odd this was gonna be a monsoon I'd say make other plans bit historically guys have done well in blizzards.

I have Vick, D.Jackson, and ADP to consider in this game.

M.Ryan is my backup QB; would have started Wallace over Jackson had I known of this before. Seriously considering starting Choice despite the possibility of Barber being back.

UGH!!

Wanted to give everyone an update:

This thing is going to happen. I am thinking 10-15" for the Philadelphia area. The heaviest snow looks to fall between 5PM and Midnight IMO. Some Models have it snowing about 2-4 inches during the game itself! This will be the real deal. More later

This is going to be epic.

I'm actually playing against Vick tomorrow, and I don't think it will hurt his running game all that much. He's still faster than the defense and if they cant get good footing then he's off to the races. Goin to be real interesting.

I'm a Vick owner and seriously considering playing kitna tonight and benching Vick. I know Vick is a stud but expecting him to run for 100+ to compensate for passing yards doesn't sound enticing to me. Vick doesn't protect the ball well while running and the snow isn't going to help.

I also have McCoy and the only reason I'm thinking about playing him is because I think McCoy is going to be a ppr machine under these conditions.

Well apparently you guys were right on and the weather report I looked at last night went form calm and 6 mph winds to 20 mph winds with snow.

So now I have to pick between Vick in a storm or Rivers.

Good post, I was going to say the same. I live in Delaware, about 25 miles south of Philly and the local weather reports indicate near blizzard like conditions during the game with accumulation of 8-12" (conservative) and possibly 2-4" falling during the game.

Would like to chime in here.Looking at the computer models it now appears that there is a chance that the game between the Eagles and the Vikings could be played in near blizzard conditions. This has been one of the craziest weather systems that I have ever followed. The models have been all over the place all week. Now that we are getting closer to the event, models are beginning to coverge on a snowier solution. The heaviest snow still might be NE of Philly, but this is now a real threat and people should be paying attention.
Weather.com states that there are "a few snow showers possible" for Sunday night, chance of percipitation at 30%. I wouldn't call these "blizzard conditions," lol.
Could care less what weather.com says. This is my prediction based on my knowledge of weather and ability to read computer models.
I would say your knowledge and ability need work. There isn't gonna be a blizzard in Philadelphia Sunday. Guaranteed.
Stick to Westerns dude. At least you weren't rude or anything.

Just a thought but is there a chance that if the Giants lose to the Packers in the late afternoon game that the gameplan for Philly shifts dramatically to not risk injuring their star players on an ugly field w/ blizzard-like conditions. They'll have the division clinched... why risk injuring Vick in that situation? He's already gone down due to injury once this season.

I'd go with Rivers. I already blew my chance as my other choice @ QB was Big Ben. Of course everybody thought Brady would have a horrible game in similar conditions a couple of weeks ago and look what happened....

Facing Vick in two championships games, and I'm devouring this thread like it's free porn.

Still, all I'm doing is downgrading Vick from "unstoppable" to "unbelievable". If you own him and don't have a top-three guy as backup, don't over-think things.

Lots of  for me this year.

MJD (and having no moves left so I have to start Barber or Beanie today)

Collie hurt.

Maclin in crappy weather or Vernon Davis coming off of that great performance last week.

Ugh!!!

Though, Ive tried my hardest to lose all year it seems always making the wrong decisions...so perhaps this will work out too.

A big reason for this is that this is a very unique situation unlike most other storms we've seen through the years. This type of system involves the phasing of 3 seperate pieces of energy. One over the Gulf, another over the Midwest and a third in Canada. It requires the perfect timing of the phase to produce a major snowstorm. So in theory good timing=blizzard, bad timing= flat wave out to see. Timing is very key and will determine if the entire east coast sees this or if it's more of a PHL-BOS threat.
OH MY GOD I THINK THIS COULD BE THE PERFECT STORM

Huh? 20 inches of snow, if there is that much, and 20+mph winds is not a blizzard.

This. The guy showed last week he didn't totally fall apart in extreme cold, but a major blizzard could be a different story -- slows down his running and is more prone to turn it over. Plus, the guy played in Alabama in college -- we're not exactly talking about Tom Brady or Bart Starr here. I just picked up RJennings and was going to sub him in for Bradshaw, but if by the time the Giants kick off at 4:15 things are looking really ugly in Philly, I might consider benching Webb.

In snow....advantage goes to the offense. The defense now has to have the footing to keep up with the offense. The offensive player knows where he's going, the defensive player has to react.

So why is it that yesterday some people in here were saying this storm can change quickly and Philly might get hit bad, and now talking about it like its definite. Cant it adjust again in the next 24 hours and mostly miss Philly as well?

This sucks...

Akers or Buehler going tonight?

I've plugged Akers in from Week 1 and have been satisfied.

Not sure if I want to risk a snowstorm situation. My opponent has Vick.

Hmm. Have Vick, DeSean...and Miles Austin. Heavy snow or even blizzard conditions don't change my opinion on Vick. But starting Austin over DeSean is sitting in my mind.

For a kicker you gotta go with Buehler.
Yeah...I think you're right. Was also considering Hartley but Buehler has been racking up points the past few weeks and they are playing ARI

Eagles are fighting for the #2 seed. Pretty much what the Giants do at this point is irrelevant to the Eagles.

I still don't see how a few inches of snow is a blizzard. All the weather services are saying "snow flurries" perhaps accumulation of a few inches throughout the day, with temps around 30 degrees and wind from 10-20 mph.

These are not blizzard conditions, not even close. These are late December conditions in phili. Anyone who is thinking of sitting Vick needs their head's examined quite carefully.

10-20" inches isn't normal. This city freaks out in 3" of snow. Anything above 10" is apocalyptic.

The closer to zero hour, the more accurate the calls should be.....................

DeSean owner here, and I can't fathom starting him in 20 mph winds and heavy snow situations. Just seems like a bad combination for deep balls. Perhaps good for him to make a move and tear down the sideline, but thats assuming he stays on his feet while making a cut. I could imagine Vick owners sticking with Vick assuming the short passes and running efforts, but this seems like a bad offensive formula. Mike Williams (TB) is my other best WR option...think I need to go there. Is this in-line with other PHI offensive GM's?

Last night I was over at my brother's (who doubles as the emergency management coordinator in his town) and he was concerned about the trending of recent models then.

Last I looked NOAA had eastern PA and most of New Jersey at 12"-18" with 20-30 mph winds and gusts up to 40.

So why is it that yesterday some people in here were saying this storm can change quickly and Philly might get hit bad, and now talking about it like its definite. Cant it adjust again in the next 24 hours and mostly miss Philly as well?
Because yesterday the storm was still in its developmental stage (technically it is still developing now), but all of the features are on the map and everything is going as planned. Also, now that the storm is already in progress for some down south and the fact that it is almost here, (being for Philly tomorrow) time is not on your side if you want the storm to go away.

If you click on the link in 50ydfieldgoal's signature he has a great piece on this storm on the front of his website.

If the wind is bad, the advantage that the offense typically has in snow would be canceled out. But one thing in favor of the offensive players is that both teams will be very hesitant to go for a field goals.
