Week 17 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL** CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION! (1 Viewer)

Need to sit one of these six WR's. Flex is .75 per catch.

Harrison ARI @ LAR
D Smith PHI vs DAL
Mooney ATL @ WAS
Worthy KC @ PIT
Smith-Njigba SEA @ CHI
McConkey LAC @ NE

TD Heavy League (no ppr and yardage points are very minimal...its really very nearly a TD only type league).

Need a 2nd WR to pair with Chase
Cooper Kupp vs Arizona
Jordan Addison vs Green Bay
Jayden Reed @ Minnesota

Addison seems the clear play, but GB has been stingy against WRs much of the year (Addison did have a nice game the first matchup and this could be a back and forth type game)
Kupp been pretty non-involved but still a threat...AZ also not giving a ton to WRs but have given up a few TDs the last few weeks.
Reed really not considered all that much...other than if Watson does not go (but won't know that until Sunday and that eliminates Kupp for sure...without Watson I acatually sort of like Reed as a sneaky play as he has had success against the Vikings each time he has played them the last 2 years and they seem to be trying to get him a little more involved...but he isn't a huge redzone target...more the break it from the 20 or so on a run or screen type).

Have to sit Conner I guess - need flex:

Standard
Hunt @ Pit
Shakir v NYJ
Worthy @ Pit

KC D @ PIT
or
Jax v Ten

.5PPR
BTJ v Ten
or
Evans v Car

Thx

Flex (0.5 PPR). Start one of these....

D Smith PHI vs DAL
Thielen CAR @ TB
T Tracy NYG vs IND
R White TB vs CAR
Oh man... I don't think it can be Tracy, even though I am a big fan.

The others all have similarly decent matchups.

I probably go with Devonta because he's the best talent and he is getting pretty consistent usage and I think has the most TD upside and the most big play upside.

But it's easy to see them all with very similar potential.

Some generic advice - since I am not planning on starting Hollywood Brown I'm going to cut him to pick up somebody playing later in the week - gives me more flexibility later in case of a fluke injury. In our league he wouldn't be available for pickup until Friday, so no chance he can hurt me. And I don't care if Brown goes nuts in week 18 - there is no week 18 in my league.

The other thing - in our league, the tie breaker is bench points. We've only had 3 actual ties in 16 years, so it doesn't happen every day. But since an average QB will outscore any RB40 or WR40, I try to stuff my bench with QB's - again I wait until after it's too late for anybody I drop to be picked up for this week. And I only do this if I make it to the championship.

Yeah, it's a tough call. White fumbled last week, which combined with Irving being so solid all year, scares me ever so slightly. Not sure what Hurts' status is, or if that affects Smith much, but I'm leaning Smith also. And, Thielen is currently sitting on my IR (with limited roster space), so unless he was absolutely the no-brainer best option of the four, I'm probably leaving him there (IR). I like Tracy as well, but the Giants are a mess. So, it really comes down to Smith vs White, and I lean Smith.

I think it comes down to Mooney v Harrison pretty clearly.

Crazy that it is a coin toss but, with Conner dinged up and the Falcons probably going to try to run as much as possible I think I go with Harrison.

There is an argument for all of them and you pretty much nailed it.

I think without PPR I eliminate Kupp because his value no longer seems to be in PPR (of course he still has 10 catch upside, but the floor is now stark).

It is a coin toss between Addison and Reed and I like the idea of Reed without Watson. But, remember in two games without Doubs he had six targets for 3-24-2 (one rush for 23) in one and a one target 0 reception, 0 rush game. So...

But, yes I think I go with Reed but would be happy starting Addison.

I think this is where you take a shot on Worthy. Great usage over the last two, that should drop but he still looks like the #1 target at this point. He gets gadget plays and I don't like your other options relative to him.

I play the KC defense regardless because they're the much better IRL defense. But defenses are essentially random number generators and the Jags have a good matchup on paper so, if that's your gut call then you should go for it.

I think it's impossible to bench BTJ at this point, even for Evans who I love this week but has a target floor almost half of BTJ at this point.

Sounds like a reasonable strategy to me.

Need to Flex 1, 0.5 PPR

Jameson Williams @ SF
Mark Andrews @ Houston
Depends on what you think you need. Pretty clearly Williams for the ceiling and Andrews for the floor.

I lean Andrews for the floor but I could easily see Williams being more consistent with all the injuries to the Lions defense.

PPR:

CeeDee @ PHI (#13 vs WRs)
McLaurin v ATL (#30 vs WRs)
Sutton @ CIN (#11 vs WRs)

Benching CeeDee doesn't feel crazy to me but it also feels completely insane.

Championship game #1 (auction league)

Flex WR spot (my 1 & 2 are Chase & Jefferson)

Who should I start in my Flex WR spot

Ladd McConkey at Patriots

Zay Flowers at Texans

Jamison Williams at 49ers

Championship game #2

Tee Higgins at Broncos

Jackson Smith Nigba at Bears

Is either league PPR? If not then Jameson and Higgins.

If so I probably lean towards Ladd (depending on weather) and JSN.

McLaurin v ATL (#30 vs WRs)
Sutton @ CIN (#11 vs WRs)

I'd rank them:

McLAurin
Lamb
Sutton

Washington is in a smash spot, and I continue them to expect rolling.
Remember a month or so back when Philly REALLY held McLaurin in check. And that was with a good QB. Rush has been better of late, competent, even I'm not sure he's going to carve up the Philly secondary.

You could certainly argue Sutton over Lamb if you need a 2nd guy. Matchup seems better, Cincy defense certainly isn't scary. I think I just lean towards Lamb's talent over the matchup there.

Merry Christmas

I sure hope Santa brings me a great flex player this week

Sutton @ CIN
Thielan @ TB
McConkey @ NE

And to all a great end to your fantasy season

Sutton by a good margin for me. He's on a good role and I prefer the matchup/QB combo and I prefer Denver's ability to put up points if Cinci's offense is rolling.

PPR choose 1

Zay Flowers at Houston
Jameson Williams at San Francisco

Zay questionable with shoulder issue today has me considering playing Jamo

Depends on what you're looking for but I would be at least a little tempted (more than a little) to go with Jameson under the assumption that, with the injuries on defense and to David Montgomery the Lions are going to be opening up the offense more.

It's close. There are also injury concerns as Tee always seems dinged up.

Personally, it's a bigger risk but if it was my decision I think the Lions with their depleted defense, no Montgomery to help run clock and, IMO an opponent that would love a pyrrhic victory I would probably risk it with Jameson. I just think the Lions are pivoting to more of an air game out of necessity.

For your other option, I think I might chase the TD potential and that, IMO, means Higgins. But there a very strong argument for JSN. He's healthy, he's getting consistent volume and, IMO has the be matchup (although it's close enough to consider irrelevant). I could easily and, happily go with JSN here so, go with your gut.

Jameson & Higgins* for me.

Need some advice, folks. I'm in the 2-week championship game, 1st half (Week 16) is in the books. I have a comfortable lead at half.

Hurts is my starting QB. Caleb Williams is the backup (who plays Thursday night). What do YOU do this week?

1. Start Williams, get *some* points for sure.
2. Start Hurts, risk the bagel, but higher payoff (probably).

I know that this is an Assistant Coach question, but cut a guy some slack. It's the championship. TIA.
It's a tough call. I have not been following Hurts practice reports. It is not unheard of for a player to be pulled from a game with concussion symptoms and return the next week but it's probably a lesser probability than missing the following week.

Anyone have numbers in this?

Either way, I think it is reasonable to expect more than *some* points from Caleb at this point. Since they fired Waldron Caleb is averaging 251 yards & 2 TDs per game with another 27 rush yards per game. He's thrown 2 or more TDs in four of the last five games.

Obviously you want to go with Hurts but if he doesn't at least get a limited practice tomorrow Caleb appears to be a solid backup at this point.

Merry Christmas and thanks for this thread the entire season. Helped me out more than a few times. I've made my home league championship....going against the #1 seed (I was #2).

My lineup:
Jayden D
Barkley
Breece
Puka
Evans
Higgins FLEX
For now Tyreek @CLE FLEX : OR I have JWilliams @SF.... almost a toss up, but I'm thinking highest floor here is JWill. Weather in CLE and been off most of the season - not sure.
TJ Hockenson : or Njoku.....I'm leaning on a better team at home+indoors with a lot to play for.

Now for the DST/Kicker/IDP conundrum
DST Indy vs NYG or Miami vs CLE - leaning Indy here
Dicker @NE or Riechard vs GB.....I'm leaning Will indoor and likely high scoring game
IDP Budda Baker @LAR or BBranch at SF.....leaning Branch

Thanks!

Probably benching Sutton here. Rush has been playing better. Mc Lauren is a must start.

I think you have to take the sure points with Caleb on Thursday.

6 point passing TD

Bo Nix at Bengals (28th vs QB) Saturday afternoon
Jared Goff at 49ers (5th vs QB) Monday night

Nix has looked a little shaky the past few games, while Goff has been great. Bengals-Broncos should be a high scoring game in a must-win for both teams. Goff usually stinks outdoors, but was very good last week.

I’ve made it here on smoke and mirrors and luck.

Standard+PPR

Goff (@SF REVENGE game)
Darnald (GB Division game)
Penix Jr (grabbed him just in case he went off last week)

Leaning Goff for reasons above. Weather could mess it up.

Starting:
J.Cook
R.Stevenson
Lamb
D.Adams

Flex J.Ford

Bench
R.Mostert (@Cle)
M.Carter (@LAR)
Benson (@LAR)
K.Miller (LV)

That’s all I got.

Thanks for a great year

FFPC scoring:

Team A:
Need a quarterback:
K.Murray @ LAR
B.Nix @ CINN

Team B;
Need TWO flexers:

K.Shakir vs NYJ
R.Doubbs @ MINN
J.Downs @ NYG
D.Mooney @ WASH

Starting Darnold over Caleb
Starting Etienne and Bijan over Javonte
Starting D Hop, DJ Moore and Ridley over over Tim Patrick (some of these are easy)
Starting Bowers at TE
Starting Hockenson over Javonte at Flex

In the Championship in both my leagues, but already in trouble in one of them. They had Andrews (13.8 points) and I had Fairbairn (ZERO) so it's not looking good for me.

With this said and me needing to dig out of a hole:

  • Richardson vs. Giants or Love vs. Vikings
  • Meyers vs. Saints, or Devonta Smith vs. Dallas
  • With Walker out, would you put Charbs in at flex or whichever one is leftover of Meyers / Smith

Pick 3 Wr’s to start. 1 PPR. 10 point favorite.

CeeDee Lamb at Eagles
Jaxon Smith-Njigba at Bears
Drake London at Commanders
Malik Nabers vs Colts
Jauan Jennings vs Lions

JSN is the only one I’m for sure playing. Leaning London and Jennings. Don’t like Lamb’s matchup and health. Don’t like Nabers qb, health and the team has given up.

Thanks,

Goff. This is a game that Detroit has been pointing to. It's a revenger from last year's playoffs. Pedigree over promise here.

Crazy to think it but, I can see starting Jameson over Tyreek. The Lions defense is badly undermanned and they lost their hammer in Montgomery. The offense may run through Goff now and not the back field.

No problem with Hockenson over Njoku if the latter isn't practicing but if it looks like Njoku is going to play he should see a bunch of targets as DTRs safety net.

I'm going Indy at defense myself. But Miami is interesting too.

Probably benching Sutton here. Rush has been playing better. Mc Lauren is a must start.
So you would start McLaurin over CeeDee too? I think I am going to this week. I agree he looks like a must start at this point.

I get it with the matchup and Nix is a fine start against that defense. If you're feeling it then start him with no regerts.

Personally I'm going with Goff.

Slim, slim chance I might risk Benson if Conner is out but Ford is playing too well at this point.

Nix, Downs & Mooney for me.

Maybe, possibly Shakir over Mooney but I prefer Mooney ATM

Caleb Williams @ Seattle tonight
Or
Stafford home vs the cards

LV vs the Saints…have both defenses which one to start
Probably start the Raiders defense because they have the better QB. But I might pivot if Kamara is back.

At QB I might actually go with Caleb at this point. He's averaging 250-2 over his last five with 27 rush yards per game.

Stafford and the Rams seem a little off. But it's super close. Stafford is a fine start if your gut is leaning that way.

Starting Darnold over Caleb

Richardson without question.

Myers if Hurts is out, Devonta if Hurts plays.

Charbs with For Walker out for sure. You have to go for the unquestioned starting RB IMO.

Thanks,
I think I would bench Nabers because the QB play is terrible and his upside is limited. He's fine in PPR because 6-8 catches is possible but I wonder if that even nets 60 yards with Lock/DeVito at QB.

After that I think I leave London on the bench, maybe. I believe he is dinged up and I'm not sure about Penix. But it's close.

If you're off CeeDee because of the matchup I kinda agree (I am starting McLaurin in front of him) so then I would go back to London because the matchup is good, the Commanders offense could force the Falcons to try to score a lot. And I think it's possible the Commanders are due for a bit of a let down after such an emotional win. But all that is just a hunch.
