I think the trade deadline has passed. Is it too much to expect Denver to make any half time adjustments on d?
Okay, that was funny.I think the trade deadline has passed. Is it too much to expect Denver to make any half time adjustments on d?
I can talk about this. Bates has not done a good job playcalling, IMO. He is way too quick to abandon the run.from the ***official 2008 Bronco thread***:You're asking for quality analysis from the guy who wandered in here to say he thinks Cutler seems like a guy that would tip over wheelchairs? You didn't elaborate on why you think the play calling has been subpar though.
that's it, season is over. Chargers will roll the Broncos next week, I have no doubt. I don't know how this team can blow a 13 point lead...How can you rush for 161 1st half yards, and then in the second half, call three handoffs? Are you effin kidding me?A complete list of Bronco rushes in the 2nd half:1-10-DEN29 (9:46) S.Young up the middle to DEN 29 for no gain (K.Mitchell).1-6-BUF644) (Shotgun) J.Cutler left end for 6 yards, TOUCHDOWN.2-10-BUF27 (11:13) S.Young right guard to BUF 25 for 2 yards (P.Posluszny, R.Denney).1-10-DEN48 (8:37) T.Bell up the middle to BUF 49 for 3 yards (K.Williams, R.Denney).2-3-DEN46 (2:43) (Shotgun) J.Cutler scrambles right guard to BUF 45 for 9 yards (Sp.Johnson).three rushes, one QB keeper, and one scramble. Way to completely abandon the running game after the all powerful PJ Pope gets hurt. Bates needs to turn in his playbook and hand the reigns back to Shanny. Absolutely terrible. How many TD's did Jake Jay over-throw today? at least 3. Despite his 359 yards, Jake Jay did not have a good game. Certainly outshined by Rivers today. The D - well, I've already resigned myself to the fact that this is the worst D I have ever seen. I kind of expected them to give up 30 anyways - if this team had a dream, they need to be scoring 35. Not today.I think I'm done watching the Broncos this season - I can't bear to watch the smackdown the Chargers have in store.
the latterIs Marshall out or just sucking?
Remenber, all this is coming from a frustrated Cutler owner. lol. I was just expecting HUGE things this year from him. He did ok and i'm sure if some of the rb's stayed healthy it woulda helped. I really liked Hillis.I can agree with that. For every great throw Culter makes, he seems to negate it with an equally terrible toss. When the run is working, Shanny needs to stay with it and not continue to force the passI don't put a lot of blame for this season on Shanahan (as a coach) or Cutler. They have both done about as much as could be expected from them.Until Denver gets a defense that can play, this team will not be able to make the next step.
Seems like it. The Broncos knew that was coming and still couldn't stop it.Does Sproles score on a screen pass every week or does it just seem that way? That guy is lights out when he gets a seam.
better be a safety who can hit.So who are the Broncos targeting in the first in 2009?
Looks like there is going to be some good talent at the MLB position. But they can use a MLB, DT, DE, and safety help.So who are the Broncos targeting in the first in 2009?

Congrats today E-A-G-L-E-S, thats the way to send a team home for the winter.Great run by LT to set up the scoreSproles may be the fastest human alive
SD is going to tthe playoffs at 8-8 while the Pats sit at home with 1 12-5 record. I'd rather have a playoff team than a Pro Bowl QB.And another pick for Cutler. 24 TDs, 18 picks, and he's going to the Pro Bowl over Rivers (33 Tds, 11 INTs). Ridiculous.
Indy is hot. I would consider them the favorite at this point. SD gets to play them at home though.I said it a few weeks ago. If the Bolts get into the playoffs, they are a very dangerous team.
WHOA DUDE out on a limb!!In a similar vein I think Michael Jackson is kinda weird. There I said it.That could be the game.
I honestly think a hitting safety should be the top priority. Someone in the Atwater/Dennis Smith mold. A stud DT would be great, but I have no confidence that we will be able to find a good one - more likely to bust. Not a DT?better be a safety who can hit.So who are the Broncos targeting in the first in 2009?
The voting has to be pushed back a few more weeks. Farve and Cutler OUT. Rivers and Pennington IN.And another pick for Cutler. 24 TDs, 18 picks, and he's going to the Pro Bowl over Rivers (33 Tds, 11 INTs). Ridiculous.
First thing they need to do is get rid of Shanahan as a evaluator/GM - especially on the D side of the ball - he is horrible.Looks like there is going to be some good talent at the MLB position. But they can use a MLB, DT, DE, and safety help.So who are the Broncos targeting in the first in 2009?
I hope you're not holding your breath. And this is why Shanahan needs to go - this team has quit. It was something you rarely would see in the past and now it has happened a lot in the last 3 years.
They don't get to play the Broncos in the playoffs.I said it a few weeks ago. If the Bolts get into the playoffs, they are a very dangerous team.
Few teams match up as well with the Colts do as the Chargers. The spread should be very interesting.Indy is hot. I would consider them the favorite at this point. SD gets to play them at home though.I said it a few weeks ago. If the Bolts get into the playoffs, they are a very dangerous team.
As a Raider fan, I speak from experience:The problem with their talent evaluation is their ignoring of character red flags, and taking boom or bust players.First thing they need to do is get rid of Shanahan as a evaluator/GM - especially on the D side of the ball - he is horrible.Looks like there is going to be some good talent at the MLB position. Not holding my breath but I am being joined by more and more Bronco fans here in Denver calling for Bowlen to make a change. The chorus is growing very loud here and the fans are responding to this at the game/gate to the point where Bowlen fully understands that his position of Shanahan as coach/GM for life is perhaps due for reevaluation.I hope you're not holding your breath. And this is why Shanahan needs to go - this team has quit. It was something you rarely would see in the past and now it has happened a lot in the last 3 years.
I agree 100%. Michael Lombardi (who worked with Denver's front office last year) states that Denver evaluates on highlight tapes, which shows the best a player can be, instead of the worst they can be. In sounds like their personnel department leaves out a huge chunk of the evalution process. Oof.Anyone else touching LT next year? Me neither.
I think without Merriman the match-up becomes much tougher. We were always able to get pressure on Peyton in the past.Few teams match up as well with the Colts do as the Chargers. LT may fall to the mid-late 1st round next year if this opinion is more widely held. He'd be a steal there; I predict a HUGE bounce back season assuming he's healthy. One of the best games of the weekend.Actually I think all four are very intriguing.Few teams match up as well with the Colts do as the Chargers. Yep. One of the keys to beating the Colts is to be able to generate pressure with your front 4 and not having to blitz. W/o Merriman, it's much tougher for Rivera and the Bolts. But, we played'em even at the Q a couple months ago, so the line should be ~ a toss up.I think without Merriman the match-up becomes much tougher. I'm pretty sure that quick pass to Bell was Cutler's call.A WR screen to Tatum Bell on 3rd and 5? And then Stokely drops the 4th down pass. Like I said, Cutler is getting no help. He has made some mistakes, but anyone who even thinks of blaming him for this loss at all is an idiot.
