As a Giants fan, I am embarrassed to have this type of team showcased in PT two straight weeks. Never in my worst nightmare about this season did I think this offense would be this bad. O-line was my #1 concern, followed by RB, and it's all come to fruition. I can't see how they could possibly fix this mess anytime soon.
Great signing by Reese. I can't see any reason why he'd be kept around especially if this line doesn't miraculously come together. It's inexcusable how he and this staff looked at these guys during the season and said, "Well be fine. Let's go out and get Brandon Marshall!"
I'm pretty optimistic by nature, and not being in Michigan for the last 18 years, I've gotten away from the same ole Lions defeatist mentality. But I think I'm pretty even tempered and measured in my assessment. I don't think this is a great defense, but they have a good defensive backfield and have several disruptive lineman. Other than rookie Jarrad Davis, the LBs are the weak link. They have great special teams despite missing one of the best punters in the league.
Depth is an issue (they lost several lineman preseason to injuries/suspension), but A'Shawn Robinson is a stud in the making, Ansah is a load for anyone, Zettel has made a huge leap in year two; throw in old man Ngata and that's a legit front four. It's not smoke n mirrors or just bad opposing front lines. When you can get good pressure without blitzing too much, you're got a solid base defense.
