Short list of non-marquee players that could make impact this weekend...
QB:
JT O'Sullivan vs Det
Had a very solid game last week, throwing for over 300 yds and a TD. Should be good for over 300 yards and a couple Tds this week vs a terrible lions defense.
RB:
Sammy Morris vs Miami
Sammy has scored in each of the first two games this year, and has more touches per game than any other Pats RB. Maroney and Jordan didn't practice on Wed or Thur and will be questionable to play vs a very suspect Dolphins Def that let T. Jones run for 101 and 1 td in the opener. Look for 75 yds rushing with 1 td. Faulk will get most of the receptions.
Michael Pittman vs New Orleans
In Denver's high-scoring offense, Pittman now has three scores in two games. He has averaged seven rushing attempts, 21.5 rushing yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game. He has been utilized nine times inside the red zone, including eight times inside the 5 yd line. This should be a shootout and Pittman will likely get a couple short Tds to go along with 30-40 yds rushing.
Pierre Thomas vs Denver
The Broncos have been absolutely abused by opposing running backs this year, allowing 111.5 rushing yards, 108 receiving yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game to the position - they are the only team in the NFL allowing 100-plus yards both rushing and receiving to enemy backs. Deuce McAllister may be worked back into the mix, but I still think Thomas gets most of the work in this shootout. I like him for 60 yds rushing and 1 td.
Derrick Ward vs Cincinnati
This one is going to get ugly in a hurry. I like Ward and Bradshaw to get about 10 carries each after halftime...but I would put money on Ward to be the guy most likely to get 10 carries rather than Bradshaw. He'll go for 8 yds/carry and get 80 yds rushing and 1 td.
WR:
Bryant Johnson vs Detroit
Seems to be the favorite target of JT O'Sullivan, although Old man Bruce is in the mix too. They'll be enough pie to go around for both of them this weekend as Martz blows up the scoreboard on his old team. Bryant goes over 100 yds for the first time this year.
Robert Meachem vs Denver
Probably won't get much love on this one, but I think this is the week we see Meachem prove he was worthy of a 1st round pick. He'll get behind the Broncos secondary for a long TD and have 4 catches for 105 yds and 1 td. :X
Michael Jenkins vs KC
Chiefs are starting two rookie DBs this week. Good matchup for Atlanta WRs. Jenkins is a deep sleeper, but the Falcons should put up some points on this defense.
TE:
John Carlson vs St Louis
He won't be a sleeper for much longer. Go get him if he's available. He's the best receiving option Hasselbech has right now, and the Rams can't stop anyone. 7 catches for 70yds and 1 td.
Randy McMichael vs Seattle
Seahawks rank 27th in overall pass defense (252 yards per game) and are vulnerable through the air. McMichael actually leads the Rams in receiving yards (101 yds) this year. Should be a solid play this week.
There you have it. Tear it apart. First time trying this so I'm open to criticism. (not at work today so I had some time to burn)
