Week 4 Waiver Wire (3 Viewers)

Any news on Vance McDonald?  He's sitting out on my wire and I need a backup TE to cover a bye.  No real injury update on him though
Vance McDonald - TE - 49ers
Coach Chip Kelly suggested Vance McDonald (hip) may not play Week 4 against the Cowboys.
McDonald exited Week 3 with the injury and was quickly ruled out. He isn't practicing on Wednesday. Kelly doesn't believe it's a long-term issue for McDonald. Garrett Celek and Blake Bell are the next men up.

I'd look at other options as he is likely out this week.  Brate, Doyle, Hunter may be available in your league and would all be better picks regardless of if McDonald were healthy or not.

It's odd because it looks like he's emerging yet his snaps (81%, 72%, 62%) and targets (10, 8, 7) have trended downwards since week 1. But also, he has 7 RZ targets which is by and far the most on the team (next closest is Reed/Doctson with 3). He's probably a decent add but I'm curious as to why his snaps are declining.
Doesn't seem like Docston will be back anytime soon.  Desean has his own injury history.  I don't think Crowder is going anywhere.  I don't know who to compare him to but I think Crowder will have season long PPR WR3 value.

Josh Doctson - WR - Redskins
Coach Jay Gruden said he's "very concerned" about Josh Doctson (Achilles').
Doctson has taken a step back after getting in limited practices all last week. He ended up not feeling right in pregame wramups before the Giants game and was inactive. Gruden said Doctson will "take it easy" again this week. Though tests have shown no further damage, Doctson is week to week. He's looking like a long shot to make any meaningful year-one contributions.

Thinking Flacco might be a decent pick up and plug in going up against OAK @ home in Baltimore.
If its a repeat of last years game --hell yes --70 points in the game, 384 yds from Flacco and 2 TD's -- The Ravens defense was horrible  --

Smallwood went for megabucks in three of my high dollar leagues today. Like 30-40% of budgets. That's nuts

I'm not sure people realize he had 15 of his 17 carries in the 2nd half.  Three of which were when Philly was up 20-3, and ten more specifically in the 4th quarter when they had pushed the lead to 34-3.

what about jamison crowder? i don't know much about this guy other than he and pryor seem to be the top WRs on our waiver wire. his target count has been 10, 8 and 7. he has scored in 2 of 3 games. not a ton of yards but is getting looks. decent flex play? my team sucks so he might start at WR for me next week :bag:
I was able to get him today. First choice was Pryor but I feel this guy may actually be the better acquisition.

Long-term I'd think so. Pryor's targets per game won't be sustained with Gordon returning and eventually Coleman coming back.

Crowder is tied for 12th in the NFL in targets and as often as Washington throws, 4th in the league in attempts, he could maintain that I would think..

Fool's gold.
The QB situation is less than enticing, Josh Gordon will join the team in another week and Coleman will soon follow, but Pryor is an emerging talent at wideout. He has Demaryius Thomas-like size and speed, a my-ball mentality, a high football IQ and a strong work ethic. He is yet a raw talent at the wide receiver position, and that (along with the factors above) will limit his short-term value, but long-term, I am buying shares of Terrelle Pryor where I can.

To those that are interested, my workbook is updated for week 3. It'll probably help with your decisions.
Great work. I don't know exactly what to take from it, but this makes me want to hold onto Kenyan Drake another week. Why do you have ?? before his name?

If you're looking for feedback on your workbook:

  • add a tab briefly explaining your process, what you look for, and any current players of interest, and insightful opinions/commentary.
  • recommend using ALL CAPS for data spreadsheets like this.
  • Add Detailed Title Headers to the individual tabs (Shade in a nice light blue)
  • Are any of the tabs redundant? The fewer the tabs, the more user friendly.
  • Add a pivot table over the clean raw data
  • Add a small SSND Image Logo to the top of each tab

Kendell Wright is practicing in full this week. More relevant to deep leagues, but he did seem to have some chemistry with Mariotta when he was healthy last season.

Bonus points for when he throws the ball, too.

Now is the time to grab Eifert if he was dropped due to injuries from an owner. He should be back on at least a limited basis next week and Bengals are looking for a red zone threat at the moment.

Looking at him too but I would probably have to cut bait on Sammy Watkins to do it and I am not ready to do that just yet.

Yea I wouldn't quite cut bait on Watkins yet...we all saw how that worked out last year. I dropped Asiata for him today(waited until today so my opponent can't use him against me this week)
