Week 5 Game Thread - Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (1 Viewer)

Nice touch by Taylor! Schiancoe getting another look in the endzone. They have thrown to him in the endzone every week this year.

I really like what Bush is doing

But I really want to trade him if I can get some decent guys in return

Seriously can they cover a kick-off?? That kick coverage is just terrible!
You know, it seems as though the Vikes have been struggling with kick coverage since the days of Sheriff Denny Green. It amazes me how a trait such as this can carry through an organization regardless of owners, coaches, and players.

LOL, this only ever happens AGAINST teams I bet on. Outgaining them like a billion to 20 and about to possibly go down 2 scores. Never on the other end of that, heh.

for those watching on TV, that dude's haircut in the UPS commercial makes me want to punch him more than that glib snot-nosed Apple slacker.

Um -- a middles screen should be one of the easiest plays to set up than just about any other. Geez the execution is just awful! I mean this offense just never seems to find a rythm

face mask?
Glad it wasn't called... as the 15yd variety is one of the most poorly called penalties in the NFL. Period. It was a 5yd... had they caught it... it would been 15yd, and wrong.
He grabbed his facemask, PULLED ON IT, and turned his head sideways. That is the definition of a facemask.
you... are missing the point. it was a 5yd variety. the "personal foul" variety was meant for VICIOUS and purposeful and/or dangerous attempts at a face mask. the defender reached his arm around... realized he had the mask, and INSTANTLY let go. the 15 yd variety was meant for those who don't care, or should know where their hand was going. it's an awful penalty that needs to be revisited in terms of 5 vs 15 yd variety... i've seen it destroy teams.

All face mask penalties are 15 yards. There is no variety.
that's right!!! i forgot that. a shame, cause they f'd up the difference 75% of the time. seriously. you couldn't get any justice on a horsecollar, but an incidental facemask was treated like an attempt to decapitate a player.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the Vikings ALWAYS go deep on 3rd and 5 or more? Not like 5-10 yards deep, like 25+ deep. It's been like that all year, and they never connect on it either.

I disagree.... the 5 / 15 determination was just way to subjective. Make it a penalty and call it the same no matter how bad it was. Its not like there are varying degrees of holding or pass interference. Keep your hands off the mask - period.

It's because everytime they try a 8 yard curl it hits the WR in the hands and he drops it.

1) Frerotte can't throw an accurate pass.

2) The Vikings line can't block.

3) The Viking's receivers can't catch.

The Vikings will finish 5-11 this year. Peterson's numbers will be artificially low.

Only positive thing of that last drive. Peterson had two great blitz pickups. If he continues to excel in pass blocking maybe Childress will keep him in the game more.

:lmao:That would have been a 15 yard even if the 5 yard was still enforced. Anytime a guys head is turned by pulling ont he face mask it should automatically be a 15 yard penalty. Not sure how the refs missed it but you are incorrect in your analysis on this one.

Then make it a 10 yarder. 15 is ridiculous for some of the weak ones.

"INSTANTLY"?LOL.Yeah, he grabbed it, pulled it, twisted his head to the side, and then "instantly" let go after all that, sure.

the facemask rule was changed this past offseason... all facemasks are 15 yds...

The vikings playcalling is extremely predictable- as a Peterson owner it concerns me greatly. The Saints can almost see the play happening and they are flooding the gaps. :lmao:
