Week 8 Fanduel (1 Viewer)

Seems like the only guy that I want in lineups who I'd have to stretch to get this week is Gronk - and even then I'm just as happy plugging in Gonzo or Miller & not thinking twice about it. Strange how eliminating Rice, Foster, AJ Green from the player pool makes the search for the "value" play seem not as important this week.

I echo the sentiment of killing it the first 4 weeks and then struggling the last 3. Less fish now I suppose?

Well, the first four weeks I was wildly successfull. Probably making money at a 70+ percent clip. Last few weeks I have been caught listening to advice from FBG and other pros and digging for bargains. I'm going back to my original plan and making sure I get solid bargains out of elite performers. No more dropping any Felix Jones, Ryan Williams style bull shutchamouth. That means I will not be putting Rashad jennings on any of my rosters.Edit: That also means I will not be putting any injury risks in there either. You hear that Trent Richardson?
:goodposting: I TOTALLY agree with you here. It seems like everytime I have put in a bargain RB like a Felix Jones, I not only miss on that player, but the "stud WR" that I was able to put in my lineup with the "bargain" savings, ends up being a bust. I am going back to picking as sure of a thing as possible at QB and RB, and filling in the blanks with value at WR/TE. Of course, picking a sure thing at RB hasn't really been that easy this season.

Yeah, I agree here, no need at all to search for value this week. I just looked at Fanduel for the first time this week about 30 mins ago, and was able to put in an "all-studs" lineup in the 60K games in about 60 seconds flat. Suprisingly easy to field what appears to be a good lineup this week. I guess this means that it will come down to 1 or 2 players this week that differentiate you from all of the other similar good lineups. Seems like you will need to pick the hit on the right TE, K, and Def because most lineups will have the same studs (i.e. Chris Johnson and all Denver/Saints players).For me, I am looking at a decision between Gates and Miller at TE, San Fran or Chicago on D, and throw a dart and hope I hit the right kicker!Speaking of Gates, no one is talking about him at all in this week's thread. Either he is nicked-up, or he is everyone's "sleeper" TE this week at 5900.

I was surprised to see that not a single person started Martin in my $5 50/50. I saw your name in that one bones. Anyone going to try CFB. I really don't follow it that much, so of course I'm going to enter a few cheap tourneys after a Friday study session.

I'm entered in 4 $5 50/50s, and he's only started by one person out of all 4 leagues!Not as fortunate in the larger tourneys of course, but glad that I dodged that bullet where I have the most $ on the line in the early games.Still boggles my mind to see guys who star 6 or 7 players from the Thurs games in these early contests. Happens every week!

Personally, with guys like A.Brown, Decker, Lance Moore, etc. all decent values at WR, I haven't found myself in a spot where I can't still afford Gonzo at TE. Maybe he bounces back this week if PHI's secondary tightens up on Julio and Roddy.Gronk may also be hard to pass up with no Hernandez in the mix.

ha... how about 8? Yes, on guy I'm facing started a full lineup of THURSDAY players except for his kicker. Christian Ponder 14.24Adrian Peterson 17.2Doug Martin 34.9Percy Harvin 18.4Vincent Jackson 5Mike Williams 15.8Kyle Rudolph 2.7David AkersMinnesota Vikings -3for a grand total of 105...Martin saved his team from being horrible... but still pretty low chance of winning when you have 3 guys who combine for 4.7 pts.

I kinda like playing the Th starts for this reason...I see it a lot, not to that extent but still...lineups with 4-5 guys from the Th game. Makes no sense and trims down the pool a bit barring some freaky game where it pays off. The downside might've happened this week with Jordy Nelson being a gametime decision, or in question. I had him in quite a few Th starts. Dammit.

Here are my Week 8 Value picks.... http://www.365fantasyfootball.com/2012/10/nfl-week-eight-best-values-on-fanduel.html

QB

Aaron Rodgers $9900 - Looks like he is back in his 2011 Fantasy form.

Peyton Manning $8800 - When you see a QB plays the Saints defense you take him.

Andrew Luck $7700 - Could be a shoot out with the Titans, both teams lack defense.

Sam Bradford $6200 - Sneaky QB pick against the Pats defense.

RB

LeSean McCoy $8000 - To win at FD you have to pick players that have breakout games.

Ryan Matthews $7600 - Same as McCoy

Matt Forte $7400 - Elite RB that never gets the credit he deserves and gets the Panthers run D this week.

Chris Johnson $7300 - Roller coaster ride with this guy but the matchup looks good.

Willis McGahee $6200 - Play all your Broncos this week.

WR

Marques Colston $7100 - Going to be a Score fest with the Broncos and Saints.

Brandon Marshall $7000 - Decent price for a PPR monster. The TD's always seem to be lacking.

Reggie Wayne $6800 - PPR monster and consistant each week.

Demaryius Thomas $6700 - Play your Broncos this week

Randall Cobb $6300 - If Nelson is out this week Cobb is going to be a monster.

Antonio Brown $6200 - People are losing trust in this guy, Don't the Steelers are a passing team now

Eric Decker $6200 - Might be an even better play then DThomas.

Jeremy Kerley $5300 - The Jets don't have much talent on offense but someone has to catch the ball

TE

Rob Gronkowski $7300 - If you can afford him there is no safer play at TE, and Hernandez is out.

Heath Miller $5900 - Keep riding the hot streak.

Jason Witten $5400 - Really steady player, that gets you receptions and Yards, but lacks TD's.

Brent Celek $5100 - Cheap productive TE, I admit he is on a lot of my rosters in week 8.

PK

Mason Crosby $5400 - Playing the Jags, could get large lead and kick FG's all 2nd half.

Robbie Gould $5300 - Same as Crosby above, as they get the Panthers at home.

David Akers $5000 - Good defensive battle with a typical 16-9 type of score in store? Yep.

DEF

Chicago Bears $5600 - Talk about a dominate Defense, and they get the struggling Panthers at home.

San Francisco 49ers $5400 - Low scoring boring game, well if you hate defensive football, maybe.

Green Bay Packers $5100 - Best value Defense play of the week.

I think everybody has the exact same list this week, other than a few of the lower end players (I don't like Bradford for instance). It looks like it's going to come down to which combination of these guys does the best.

Yes, another thanks for the link! Nothing like a free shot at $300.00 :popcorn:

Unless I'm unable to restrain myself from making a few more clicks, here's what week 8 will look like for me @ Fanduel (excluding Primetime):

64 contests/40 lineups

$153 wagered ($112 in 50/50s & $41 in tourneys)

QB: P.Manning(13), B. Roth(10), RG3 (8), Brees(7), Ryan(1), Eli(1)

RB: McGahee(26), Matthews(13), Lynch(11), Bush(10), McCoy(10), Forte(8), CJ(1)

WR: Decker(23), Wayne(21), Marshall(16), Colston(16), Cobb(15), Thomas(10), Cruz(5), Harvin (4), White(2), Gordan(2), D. Jackson (2), Johnson(1), Jones(1), Brown(1)

TE: Miller (19), Gonzo(13), Gronk(7), Witten(1)

K: Hartley(8), Walsh(7), GZ(6), Prater (5), Tynes(4), Suisham(3), Dawson(3), Gould(2), Novak(1)

DEF: SF(15), GB(7), ATL(6), CHI(5), OAK(4), CLE(2), SEA(1)

Less contests & less $$ wagered than last week, but more lineups. Did much less "importing" this week. Here's hoping for some good scores this week!

Edit: missing a wideout somewhere, but you get the picture!

Been playing on FD since last year but never really followed this thread until recently. I noticed that a lot of people seem to like 50/50's and H2H's which baffles me. Aside from the odds of course, which if you're playing mid & high stakes then I could see an argument made for that.

The other head-scratcher is entering a bunch of small leagues with small stakes, like dancingbones above (who I see a lot so I know he knows his shtuff...no offense man) $153 in 60 leagues this week?! That just seems like a lot of work for no reason. Am I missing something? I wager similar amounts each week, maybe a little more but much fewer contests. 9 this week to be exact. Do you guys know something I don't know?

Love this thread by the way and the FBG community as a whole! FD chat is full of a buncha nonsense.

Yup. Odds and high payout percentages in relation to those odds. In 50/50s, youve got a 1 in 2 shot at money (even though the payout is low), and in H2H, odds go down a bit but payouts go up compared to 50/50s, and are better than tourneys which as you know pay out the top 10% or so. Myself, I like the cheap tourneys for the small risk and high payout potential. Of the 15 or so tourneys Ive played, Ive placed in 5 of them, none of which has paid less than 500% on the entry fee. Ive played very few 50/50s because 1.8x my money back just seems to low to bother with, even though its the smartest/safest bet, IMO. Id rather try to place in that top 10% for a 500%+ return on my money. :D Im just now starting to dabble in the 20 man leagues and H2H, so I cant comment on those just yet.

I think its just preference on what people feel comfortable risking. To me, Id rather play in a $1 or $2 tourney than a $5 or $10, because if I hit (even though odds are against me), the return is good enough without risking five or ten times the money, and I dont sweat it if I lose a bunch of games any given week.

It was worse last week! My goal is not to lose $$, and to have a shot at winning a good amount. The many contests & 50/50s address the first part, while the tourneys address the 2nd part.I'm new to Fanduel this year, so mainly just trying to find a way to translate the time I already spend researching FFball to a way to make a little $$. If I find a way that I'm comfortable with, and that doesn't ruin my actual enjoyment if watching the games on Sundays, then I'll probably migrate to higher stakes. The many contests & multiple lineups strategy came from one Sunday if losing about $100 on playing the same lineup across a bunch of contests. If you go through those low stakes 50/50s, you'll find condia in almost all of them. In terms of a "safe" wager, the 50/50s are about as forgiving as it gets, IMO.

Anyone else notice they took away the Packers DST TD? They went from 12 points to 6 during halftime. WTF
Hmm. The Green Bay blocked FG TD doesnt count according to the rules. Pretty lame that TDs from a blocked punt or FG dont count, but its all there in black and white.Defense

Sacks = 1pt

Opponent-fumbles recovered = 2pts

Interception return touchdowns = 6pts

Fumble return touchdowns = 6pts

Kickoff return touchdowns = 6pts

Punt return touchdowns = 6 pts (excludes blocked punts)

Safeties = 2pts

Blocked kicks = 2pts

Interceptions = 2pts

0 points allowed = 10pts

1-6 points allowed = 7pts

7-13 points allowed = 4pts

14-20 points allowed = 1pt

28-34 points allowed = -1pt

35+ points allowed = -4pts

What I don't understand is why they would do that? Yes I admit it, I have the Packer D in almost every game, but doesn't make sense to me to exclude only that type of TD.

Yeah I have no idea why, its such a huge play it should count for the DST.

Roth(10), RG3 (8), Brees(7), Ryan(1), Eli(1)RB: McGahee(26), Matthews(13), Lynch(11), Bush(10), McCoy(10), Forte(8), CJ(1)WR: Decker(23), Wayne(21), Marshall(16), Colston(16), Cobb(15), Thomas(10), Cruz(5), Harvin (4), White(2), Gordan(2), D. Jackson (2), Johnson(1), Jones(1), Brown(1)TE: Miller (19), Gonzo(13), Gronk(7), Witten(1)K: Hartley(8), Walsh(7), GZ(6), Prater (5), Tynes(4), Suisham(3), Dawson(3), Gould(2), Novak(1)DEF: SF(15), GB(7), ATL(6), CHI(5), OAK(4), CLE(2), SEA(1) Less contests & less $$ wagered than last week, but more lineups. Did much less "importing" this week. Here's hoping for some good scores this week! :banned:Edit: missing a wideout somewhere, but you get the picture!
wow.. 40 lineups is a ton... I hope most of those are for the tourneys.. I wouldn't have several lineups for 50/50's. How many different lineups did you use for the 50/50s?

Most are 50/50s actually. Did 3-4 $5 50/50s for each "time slot" (Thurs, Sun only, 1PM, Sun/mon), and then entered every $1-$2 Snap/Dive, plus a few 250/100 player tourneys. Each tourney lineup was different, and each tourney lineup was entered into a $2 50/50 as well. I've had weeks where I've just plain picked wrong "safe" guys, and been burned on my 50/50s. Wanted to hedge against that.So far I'm up $18 on $52 for the 1pm & sun only contests. Need SF def to show up strong tonight to save some bad kicker & gonzo picks in a bunch of my remaining 50/50s tonight. 2/6 on being in the $$ for the 100/250 tourneys so far, but likely to be blanked on all 15 dive/snaps. Bad kicker picks (Hartley/GZ/Dawson in almost 1/2 of my lineups) is tough to overcome.

Sacks = 1pt

Opponent-fumbles recovered = 2pts

Interception return touchdowns = 6pts

Fumble return touchdowns = 6pts

Kickoff return touchdowns = 6pts

Punt return touchdowns = 6 pts (excludes blocked punts)

Safeties = 2pts

Blocked kicks = 2pts

Interceptions = 2pts

0 points allowed = 10pts

1-6 points allowed = 7pts

7-13 points allowed = 4pts

14-20 points allowed = 1pt

28-34 points allowed = -1pt

35+ points allowed = -4pts
I asked the admin on the site forum about this and was told that scoring is "strictly for offense and defense... not special teams". :mellow:

If special teams don't count why do punt and kickoff returns for TD give 6 points for the defense? I thought those were special teams.

Weird.

Dumb answer, but at least it is clearly spelled out in the scoring section. Same thing happened a week or so ago, with Houston I believe.
