Week 9 (1 Viewer)

I was scrambling in the Pre-Draft Survivor League when I saw that both my QBs would be off in Week 9 (Eli and Rex - thanks Rex).

I grabbed David Carr, and was thoroughly raked over the coals for the "reach" and the "bad pick".

Well, looks like I at least have a viable option at QB and chose the right backup - I think.

At least I feel good about the pick now. Which means he'll throw 4 picks and I'll be booted. Such is Survivor.

Thought after 39 views and almost 18 hours someone should post something.

OK, I concede that your pick of Carr resulted in you having a starting QB on Eli's bye week, but does that alone make you feel good about the Carr pick? Just curious. And if it does make you feel good, does it make up for the Sexy Rexy selection?I am eliminated in all leagues and have no right to talk, but will anyway seeing how you brought it up.Congrats on still being alive!

You're patting yourself on the back for selecting Carr? Carr was picked up in many leagues. Now if you had the gutso to select Vinny Testeverde in these drafts...that would have been newsworthy.

Former Rex Fan

My defense of Rex was he had highs and lows

making him a good backup for more consistant or high scoring QBs.

I also beleived in Lovie's loyalty and lack of a competitive backup.

IMHO, the timing of injuries to the defense and oline play exposed Rex.

Losing kills QBs.

Actually, it does - that was my lone goal with that pick.....Does it make up for Rex? Not really. That's a shame - I know he was "boom or bust" which is great for Survivor, but there wasn't enough boom before busting this year.

As for Carr.... was he drafted in all the PDSLs? I don't think so. I could be wrong (a lot of Jake support back then), but I do know I picked Carr most likely much earlier than anyone else (Round 13).

Just looking at what I picked up after Carr (in case some make an argument I reached for him and went too early - a viable argument), here's what I got after Carr...

Two defenses, one kicker, a backup TE, and fliers at RB and WR. Only Sammy Morris had real value aside from the TE/K/D picks, so I didn't give up much. A case can be made I reached for Carr, but after Round 13 with 16 teams I only had room for a few players and then to round out K, D and TE so I didn't see it as a big risk. Then I also saw that Rudnicki had the same problem (two QBs off Week 9, how lucky can you get) so I'm glad I went with Carr.....

Now if I had just grabbed more of my deeper guys like King and Leonard I'd feel much better....

Carr's ADP in PDSL was 263.75, or roughly mid-16th round, and that's factoring in my pick of him at 13.08 (Pick 200).With 320 picks, that means the average pick of Carr aside from mine was 285th, or late 18th round....

So did Carr save your team from elimination?

Carr sucks...can't even beat out Vinny.
