Week one wonders... (1 Viewer)

I'd like to get some thoughts on guys that put up decent numbers in week 1 and that might be available on the ww.

Vick - Nice numbers in mop up duty. Looks like he probably gets a start this week. Might be a fair qb#2 pick up but don't pick him up expecting a return to his glory years. His production was waning back then and I think he'll find it tough going when defenses start game planning for him as a starter as opposed to a few packages per game.

Clayton - Saw in another post that he's had above average production in week one the past two years but that's never translated into much. Does being the security blanket for a rookie qb guarantee steady production the rest of the year? My gut says no.

Naanee - Rivers is going to throw the ball. Gates is target #1 but as Jackson proved, there's plenty to go around. I'm not overly impressed with Malcom Floyd so I think Naanee could be very solid going forward.

Any others worth mentioning or thoughts on the abovementioned?

concerning Vick: GB didn't focus their prep for Vick's style of play, as Kolb was supposed to be the go-to. I think the test will be what happens when Vick is established as the #1, and opponents prep for his play. Im going no on Vick

When Vick was a regular starting QB on the Falcons, he was a very solid QB week in and week out, despite teams "gameplanning" against him. So do you think he's older now and doesn't have the ability he once did? Why do you expect him to suddenly become ineffective, when that's never happened before on a regular basis? In reality, Vick shouldn't be in this thread. He's not a "one-week wonder". He's a proven quality NFL QB.

I think that Arian Foster will end up being Chris Brown-like. May not be the starter in Houston by season's end.

Are you kidding me. Vick had some terribly stinky games when he was a starter...

he did, but the main reason he is not a starter has nothing to do with his play. it's his off field issues that make teams scared of the backlash from angry fans if they make him their man.we may now be far enough away from the incident that some people may choose to forgive & forget. He has also shaken off the rust (so to speak) so he is a more legitimate threat to become a starter than he was last year.with this being said... if Kolb does not produce when he returns to the lineup, he may lose his job.

I think I was pretty clear in stating that he's an option as qb#2. I do think age and a 4 year layoff from consistent play will take a toll. I should clarify one thing. I probably misspoke by saying that his skills were waning. Yardage and TDs were good but the non-fantasy relevant stats weren't great (i.e. - completion % and YPPA), and I think those things can have an effect on the things the we as fantasy players care about.

possible. less to do with Vick being a sure starter quality type QB, more to do with next 2 teams are DET, JAX..He could build on that momentum from week 1 -Week 1 was a "gift" in that GB planned to face Kolb and when Vick brought another part that they didnt gameplan for. Id bet Vick holds onto starting job next 2 weeks if at all, and Kolb is back week 4 maybe 5.. I think Vick is a weapon but Kolb is their franchise QB.

you guys really don't think Green Bay did not game plan at all for Vick..??

He was used in packages last year , so I am sure they were prepared somewhat for what they were facing when he went in the game.

It is not like Kolb got hurt and the PAckers players and staff were like "Oh , that's right ...they got that Vick guy"

Vick should be a great play , if he plays, against Detroit and Jacksonville.... and if I am Kolb I do whatever it takes to get back in the game asap.
