Week one ww pickups (1 Viewer)

From the hot takes department....Kerwyn Williams.

Side note - watch for impatient owners to drop guys like Perine that can help you down the stretch.

Tarik Cohen

Kerwyn Williams ?

Chris Carson ( Lacy looked terrible, Rawls still not fit so could have a chance )

Kenny Golladay

Alfred Morris ( going by McFadden being inactive tonight and IF Elliot suspension comes into play )

and as said above be patient for impatient people to drop useful players too quickly

LOL just posted in the Fat Rob thread that I might just be one of those GMs who puts Perine back on the wire for a guy who looks (based on preseason and Game 1 opportunity and performance) like he'll consistently contribute and have a role, like Cohen, Kupp, and maybe Golladay, who I like in that order.

James Jones (Big Ben loves his big TEs) and Hooper are targets for TE streamers or platooners.

A sneaky one might be Chris Thompson. He won't be the workhorse, but he'll involved regardless of Kelley or Perine and has some value in PPR leagues.

What's the likelihood the Cardinals would sign Chris Johnson to be main ball carrier?

Not mentioned above; Buck Allen gets a boost with Woodhead hamstring and Jags WR's shuffled with Allen Robinson injury.

Worth recalling Brady was looking for Amendola; and really struggled once he left concussed. If back on the field; without Belicheck adjustments, worthwhile.

Jermaine Kearse and Nelson Agholar saw significant targets and led their respective teams. So did Paul Richardson.

Kendall Wright was quiet and owned; but snatch him up if dropped with Kevin White's collarbone.

Jacoby Brissett gets some look in deep 2QB leagues, especially for Luck owners.

George Kittle was able to catch a number of underneath passes in SF offense that couldn't move.

Look for Raiders, Ravens and Bengals defenses as options with their matchups next week...

Another thing is to look out for quality guys with solid roles that owners drop after a week one let down or underperforming given game flow or coverage (a back who didn't get normal volume because the team got behind and needed to throw; a wr covered by a shutdown corner, etc.).

Every year, I see an owner make this kind of rash move. If I have a late priority waiver pick and am certain I'm not going to land the one or two waiver guys I'd like, I sometimes don't put a waiver pick on so I'm high on the wire to pick up guys dropped too rashly.

Who?

Interested in this -- Javorius was somewhat as efficient as West (21 for 71 vs 19 for 80)  and BAL seems to have no problem platooning backs as we saw last year. West is good enough to retain his value, but Allen looks intriguing. How are his hands?

Allen has great hands, good pass catcher who has not looked good between the tackles in the past. Seems like he has improved that aspect so he could have some value.

Chris Carson - He was on the field a lot.  Eddie Lacy is all done and Carson seems more dynamic than the always injured Thomas Rawls. Carson had a 6.5 ypc compared to Lacy’s  0.3 ypc.

Think he got drafted in quite a few leagues? In the Brate-Ebron tier for backups, guy looks like a decent route runner, good agility for a big man and he's a hand catcher. I'd take him over James 8 days a week.

Seems like Carson, Cohen, and Williams are the RBS.  Any of them worth burning number one ww order on?
Easily Cohen for me. Carson will still have to contend with Rawls and Prosise even if Lacy is put out to pasture. Williams is a short term play at best and may be part of an RBBC regardless.

Cohen, as he'll have a role. Carson is intriguing, but how this backfield plays out is still up in the air, IMHO. Williams is definitely worth a look for DJ owners, but with the official word (so far) being a sprained wrist, not sure this wouldn't ens up being a waste of a wire move for those who don't own DJ.

My  :2cents:

Hmm.  Ok.  He looked crazy good out there.   Not sure if I want to burn it on him though

Keep in mind though that the Bears are almost completely bereft of WR talent and may lean on Cohen in the passing game. Could be gold in PPR leagues.

Some deep League guys...

Alex Smith if you need a QB (vs. PHI)

Allen Hurns/Dede Westbrook if you need a WR (ARob15 probably out for year)

Buck Allen at RB if Woodhead misses significant time.

Will Tye/Zach Miller as big pass catching TE targets of horrible teams with poor QBs

agreed. he looks the part.

I'll add:

IF available, obvious ones are Corey Davis, Coleman ( Cle) , Kupp, Alex Smith

Given what J. Howard did, I would think that Cohen is this weeks WW fool's gold pickup of the year..

I've been anti-Mixon all preseason, and that continues today. Gio looked spectacular. Hill looked good. but neither is worth a long term investment if  the red rooster keeps throwing 4 picks

I have the number two waiver in standard scoring and I think I'm going to hold strong for now. Cohen and Carson are available. That is unless DJ is out long term I'll try for his back up.

I went to one Bears pre-season game and todays game and Cohen is a game changing player. A matter of fact I avoided drafting Jordan Howard because of the obvious need for the team to have him on the field. Today he lined up as QB, WR and RB. Every time he touches the ball you feel he can take it to the house. Plus he returns punts. Just sayin.

Wonder if they pull Jon Williams off the practice squad after a few weeks...

Rawls coming back scares me.  Still have prosise and prob will give Lacy another chance.  The oline looked like garbage and the entire offense looked dysfunctional.  Carsons an easy pass with these other options available I think

Are any of these guys worth losing a high waiver wire position for?
Golladay, seems he is the WR to pick up, especially with Tates digit messed up.,
Tate came back in; I don't think a left ring finger injury is going to keep him out (though obviously it's gonna make low throw more difficult.) Also, Galladay & Tate have different route trees; he's more of an outside guy, if Golden misses time it means more snaps for Abbrederis or TJ Jones in the slot. Which is a pretty awful scenario if you're a Lions fan. They (& Galladay) will be much more effective with both Galladay & Tate on the field at the same time.

You guys are really selling me on Cohen.  Thinking about burning number one and number 2 priority in 2 leagues on him.  Dropping l. Murray and lacy

Golladay. 2 TDs, one a bomb where he laid out, and a missed fade on a 2 pt try. The guy is big and all they have is Tate, Stafford is used to throwing to a big target.

NOPE. He will be fixture in the Bears Offense the entire year.ONLY thing I worry abt a little ,is what happens when B Cunningham comes back.  Do they split the rb pass catching role behind Howard? I think that Cohen is too dynamic to keep him off the field. He's tiny(5 7') which makes it hard for opposing defenses to spot him on the field....I'm buying in on Cohen with the bears being depleted at WR  and needing play makers bad.. I'm bidding at least 30% of my budget on him. I hope I get him. He could end up with 75-90 catches this year.plus he will still be getting several carries a game, plus 7-8 TD's isn't out of the question....Howard did nothing special sure he got a TD,but he also is one of the worst receiving backs in the game, and dropped the game winning TD. Cohen will outscore Howard in ppr this year.. I'd rather have Cohen than Howard on my team right now.

They IR'd him? WTF he was playing a few weeks go and they said his injury was minor then... ugh.

Hurns is a thought then, but man Coughlin has little to no trust of Bortles and rightly so.

Short bench (4 spots)  I have Rivers.... Most teams carry backup QB's -

Likely dumping Eli for Coleman, Davis, Cobb, Cohen, Jammal Williams, James White.... Anyone I can get.

QB woes......

Would you burn a high WW on Alex Smith? (Currently have Eli and Wentz)
I wouldn't. Eli and Wentz will still be OK. If you can get Smith without burning a high WW priority you can look at that but by the end of the season I think Eli and Wentz will both score more points than Smith.

Being in a deep roster dynasty league you have to be weeks ahead on pickups.  Is DeDe Westbrook designated as IR-designated to return after week 6?  Does anyone know his exact status...I can't seem to find that info at the NFL or ESPN sites.

In a redraft...why keep Perine right now?
