What are the chances Reggie Bush goes off vs Atl? (1 Viewer)

Let me preface this by saying I am not a Reggie Bush fan. While he unquestionably has a unique skill set. Bush has failed to prove himself as anything more than an average running back in the NFL.

That said, if Bush is going to have a big game this season, Monday night vs Atlanta should be it. The game seems to play to Bush's strenghts. New Orleans is playing an average to poor small defense on turf. Bush's entire game is built on speed. He tends to fair better against small defenses. Bigger defenses seem to slow him down + give him more trouble in general. I could see Bush finding some open space vs the Falcons and taking advantage of it.

Also, Bush has started to get a lot of negitive press of late. The growing consensus is that Bush is overrated. What better way to prove all of his critics wrong than a Monday night showcase vs a fairly weak defense? I think Bush has something to prove at this point.

I just have a feeling Bush comes out Monday night and lights up the Falcons on national tv.

Any thoughts?

You can count on multiple threads on this regardless of the outcome. He's easily the most controversial figure in the NFL today now that Mike Vick is in jail.

Don't small defenses match up better v. Bush?
I was thinking the same thing. Smaller usually means faster. The problem with Bush is he can't get around the corner and into space because the linebackers and safeties are all over him as soon as he gets the ball. Oh, and according to Switz, he has been instructed to step out of bounds rather than risk getting hit...

OP said "average to poor small defense". Does that mean faster? I think we can all agree that Atlanta's defense is suffering this year, regardless of whom they are playing. I don't read "average to poor" as being quick, but I don't watch a lot of Atlanta games. Any homers care to comment on this?

Oh, I agree that I know jack about the Atlanta D. I was just making a generalization. If the guys are smaller that usually means they are quicker. Back to the original question, will he go off? I have no idea. I think averaging over 4.0 YPC would be a good start...

Things we can agree on:1) Atlanta D is not looking good.2) Important game for the Saints, touches should be there.3) Bush not on the injury report.Does this mean he'll go off? I'd like to think the opportunity is there at least...

See Reggie Bush injury thread, does not sound good. No link but coming home from lunch and on ESPN radio that he has a hurt knee and may be out [getting 2nd opinion].

Regardless of the outcome of this, does anybody else get confused by the *CL injuries? What's the difference, in terms of recovery and such, between ACL, MCL, and PCL?
