What are the Steelers needs? (1 Viewer)

What should be there top priority in next weeks draft? I think we need some cornerback help. Ike Taylor is very talented, but he struggled a lot last season and was eventually benched. It seemed like when teams were able to pick up our blitz ,we got picked apart on a regular basis.

Id like to see them go

1st round - CB

2nd round - Defensive end

I think when healthy our offense is fine. Ben will get a full training camp this year. Unlike last season when he had the accident .

I would like to see them trade down a bit and take Ryan Kalil the C from USC in the first round. If they do take a CB hopefully it is Revis from Pitt and not Hall.

In the 2nd I would like to see a OLB/DE hybrid. Someone to take Haggans or Harrisons spot if they falter. I have never been a big fan of Haggan.

Maybe a OT or CB in the 3rd, but I like our corners. Taylor will be better this year and I am very high on McFadden. Townsend is getting old and this may be his last year. The jury is still out on Colclough but this is his 4th year now. He needs to step up.

I would like to see them package some of their 4th round picks and move up either into the 3rd or high 4th. Here they could take DL/OL as we need depth at those spots.

I think last year was an aberration and they will be back strong this year. Ben was never right all year and the line had its problems. Hopefully Fanaca will come into camp and all will be right with the line.

Ben is just fine. Our problems were the offensive line and running game were not as good as the Super Bowl year.

Why would you think that going corner is a good first round pick then? If they think of the the CB's is the best player left they will take him, but I can't see them drafting for need here. The Steelers go with the BPA nearly every year, and I don't think there is any need this year that would allow a rookie to start.I don't really see them drafting for need at all, but if they do a linebacker who can play a few spots is the biggest team need. They have no depth at LB.

Where did I say CB was a good first round pick? I said IF they decide to take a CB I hope it is Revis. I want them to trade down and take Kalil. Who is going to start at center? Mahan doesnt excite me and neither do the other options on the roster.Depth at OLB is a need but I think they can wait until round 2 and fill that spot. If they do go OLB in Rd 1 (Timmons/Posluszny) then hopefully they can grab Samson Satele in Rd 2.

I can't see how you think they don't draft for need. Last year Holmes filled a huge need, as did Miller in 2005. Roethlisberger was drafted in 2004 and he filled a need as well.

Thoughts?

Ben makes terrible decisions. How many games did he lose for the Steelers last year by making poor decisions? The Steelers won the Super Bowl 2 years ago "despite" him.

He played bad in the SB but they wouldn't have been there without him. Did you watch the AFCCG?Ben looked bad last year, no doubt. It just boils down to what camp you're in. Either you think hs first two years, his 27-4 record was an abberation, and he really sucks --- or if you think he's a good QB who had a bad year because of two pretty major offseason problems. I see you've already made your mind up, I won't try to change that. I'm pretty optimistic that he's going to do just fine.

I think the Steelers dont have any glaring weaknesses, I just dont think they're that strong in any one position, they have an average QB, RB, TE, and WRs, so there's not alot to get excited about on the offensive side of the ball.

The defense was pretty mediocre as well imo. They could go in a number of different ways.

I think Ben is an average QB, honestly where would you rank him as far as QBs? I think he would be in about the 13-16 range, thats pretty much the definition of average.

Fantasy or NFL? Fantasy, I agree with you. Talking NFL -- If you look at last year as an abberation (I do), I can only think of roughly 8 QBs I'd want ahead of him.
