I can't decide on what my gut tells me about the Cowboys offense this year, and in particular Romo. With Austin, Dez, Roy at WR3, Witten, Bennett, and our RBs catching passes, Romo seems to have a great shot to contend for QB1 by the end of the year. However, you could argue that Dallas's offensive strength is actually in running the ball, and by pounding it with Barber, Jones and Choice, Romo has limited upside. In no way would I expect him to flop, but when I start thinking about the strength of the Cowboy running game it's hard to see him with more than 4200 and 28. Of course, those would be great numbers, but not for what could be his UPSIDE. Thoughts?

You are way overthinking this. Since becoming a starter 55 games ago, Romo has averaged 271 passing yards and 1.93 passing TD per game. That works out to 4336/31 over a full season.

He finished in a virtual tie for 5th last year in my league, with Brady.

From most accounts, the OL looks like it took the biggest step back of any group on the team. What aspects of the running game have improved?

My buddy saw Romo out with Kim Kardashian, he said they couldn't keep there hands off of each other. :lmao:
isnt she with Miles Austin?that BS aside... Romo is a monster and will be even more of one this season is my gut feelingtargeting him in all pools

Last three years Dallas has ranked 6th, 9th. and 4th in passing yardage.

Last three years Dallas has ranked 7th, 21st, and 17th in rushing yardage.

Apart from some huge breakout by Felix Jones, how is the Dallas running game going to suddenly alter their offensive mix so much that it hurts Romo?

He's a top five guy. Brees and Rodgers have better shots at being number 1 overall, but Romo has a chance at it.

Ummm...no. You can take anything that particular poster says about Cowboys with a few tons of salt. ;)

When the OL is healthy and good Witten goes out and makes the difference on Romo's stat line.

When Witten has to stay in and block every aspect of this team's offense struggles.

He's got a clear ceiling and a floor that's not really defined. I'd rather sit and wait for Ryan very, very late in the draft and get a 3rd WR/RB or TE or something where Romo will be taken.

I was ultra high on Romo pre-training camp. With Dez not getting reps with him and the o-line being banged up, i've lowered my expectations. He's still a QB1 though.

The Falcons have said several times that they don't plan on opening up the offense or changing much at all. IMO, I don't see Ryan as a fantasy QB1 this year . . . and certainly nowhere close to someone like Romo.

this. and, Garrett is still the O-coordinator. Romo will have his opportunities.the O-line is the only thing that concerns me.

the silver lining to Kosier, Columbo, and Barron being dinged up is it gets guys like Brewster, Holland, and Young some valuable experience.

due to the depth getting more game time, there is a possibility that the O-line could come into the reg. season stronger than last year. Kosier and Columbo should be good to go soon. of course i'm an optimistic homer.

hes right. If you were gonna expect Romo to have a poor season I would have bet on last year after TO left the team. As you can see, Romo did just fine without TO.This year they added talent (Dez) to the offense, so I dont exactly see them going on a downward spiral. It wouldnt surprise me if the pass distribution was different, but I think the results will be the same.
