He got a few carries early but then Rudy took over. Did Smith get hurt or something?
There was a good chunk of the game?I watched a good chunk of the game. While Rudi was picking up good chunks of yards I thought he looked slow, flat footed and almost looked like he was afraid of contact.
Must have been blown pass protection or something...I'm guessing he pissed the coaching staff off.Moonlight said:I watched the game and he just mysteriously disappeared after his third carry like a Sopranos' whack job.No mention of any reason by the announcers or anyone else. I post on a Lions fans forum and nobody there knows nothing or aint talkin.
I think that's exactly what it was. No evidence, but it makes the most sense.Must have been blown pass protection or somethingMoonlight said:I watched the game and he just mysteriously disappeared after his third carry like a Sopranos' whack job.No mention of any reason by the announcers or anyone else. I'll have trouble sleeping tonight knowing this.Well this is upsetting...I don't know what to think...and my running back situation is already a mess.

And in those few weeks, they've also had Rudi so do they like him?If you check the blog, there's a recent article under the Lions that states that Rudi Johnson will start to get the heavier workload for the Lions. Although I'm a little surprised at how soon and how much, it should not have been a surprise that Rudi got the majority of carries.Judge Smails said:Ummm - Detroit has wheeled in many RB's for tryouts the past few weeks. You only do that if you don't like what you have. I suspect Rudi keeps the job.
I'm just happy b/c someone in my league dropped Rudi on Saturday, and as a Kevin Smith owner, I just had to swoop in and snag him...he's crying in his Cheerios right now.....not that Detroit is great, but best to have both in case 1 emerges as the #1 guy....I would assume that will be Rudi...Tatum Bell kidnapped Kevin Smith on the sidelines.
Once again let me remind you this is the Lions. The first three weeks they have gone down big early on in the game. I wouldn't get too excited... having a RB duo on a team that is playing from behind all the time is that the greatest situation to haveI'm just happy b/c someone in my league dropped Rudi on Saturday, and as a Kevin Smith owner, I just had to swoop in and snag him...he's crying in his Cheerios right now.....not that Detroit is great, but best to have both in case 1 emerges as the #1 guy....I would assume that will be Rudi...Tatum Bell kidnapped Kevin Smith on the sidelines.
Most definately that is why he is in there. They can't stop anyone from pummelling them from the 1st snap of the game so they have to have a RB that can pass protect. Even though Colletto would love to run the ball down 21-0, Moronelli is now in 'save my job' mode.Someone in my league dropped Rudi too early this weekend. I think I'm going to stay away from the Detroit running game for once though. Rudi has always been solid in pass protection, so I'm not entirely surprised he was largely involved. I thought Kevin Smith looked pretty good though so I'm not sure why they'd completely faze him out. Maybe they are thinking long term and want to ease him into the L.
He probably stole his helmet.Tatum Bell kidnapped Kevin Smith on the sidelines.
Rudi must be really kicking tail if he's going to steam carries in the bye week as well.(Kevin Smith was fully healthy in Week 3, but lost most of his carries to Rudi Johnson because Johnson was "feeling it, running and getting it going," according to coach Rod Marinelli.
Analysis: "We kind of went with him," added Marinelli after Sunday's game. "He was running hard." Rudi has apparently been impressive in practice and the coaching staff is beginning to gain more confidence in him. Expect him to steal carries from Smith again in Week 4.
