What is the fantasty impact of Parcells' retirement? (1 Viewer)

There are a few questions to be answered, though obviously nobody is in a great position to speculate until a new head coach is named. But for all the Dallas homers out there, I'm curious what your take is.

1) Who becomes the #1 RB, JJ or MBarber?

2) Does TO stick around Dallas?

3) If TO stays, who becomes the #2 WR? Glenn was a Parcells guy, despite the grief he got from Parcells back in his Patriots days for being a wimp. Does Patrick Crayton take over now?

4) Does the new coach stick with a 3-4 defense out of necessity? Or is there a possibility of moving to a 4-3? DWare would be an absolute fantasy beast if listed as a DE.

have to see who it is that replaces him.

Good idea but I think this thread's a little too premature

Hey Michael,

First of all, loved ya in Secret of My Success.

Second, echoing what Bri said, we need to see who replaces Parcells and the staff he puts together. We also need to assess the draft and free agency and how that plays into improving the offensive line. Finally, we have questions as to whether T.O. will be kept in the fold.

If early reports about Wade Phillips are true, Cowboys fans will have to see if he's going to tap someone he's comfortable with to run the offense. Someone from perhaps the current Chargers staff or from his days in Buffalo, perhaps.

Two weeks ago J Jones was on the Radio, he said "Next year both TO and T. Glenn will get their signing bonus and both will be on the team. So expect them both to be back.He also said that they (Cowboys) will be playing the 3-4 no matter what. He was asked at that time, if Bill retired was he prepared. He said yes, that he had a short list already prepared. They'll stay in the 3-4.#1. is the real question and I really don't know.

It will be interesting to see. JJ seems to be the more talented, more explosive guy. I just think Parcells never really liked him, so he didn't give JJ the heavy workload. Also, it could be argued that JJ can't stay healthy with a heavy workload (which is part of the reason WHY Parcells didn't like him).MBIII showed (up until the last couple games, anyway) that he was reliable to pick up short yardage.

I think it is likely that they keep a similar approach as the 2006 Cowboys, with a slight uptick to JJ in the post-Parcells era. I still think MBIII will hold value in short yardage, and will probably continue to vulture many of JJ's TDs...

As others have said, there are a lot of different factors yet to be determined...

JJ is horrible. MB is far better, maybe the new coach will realize that and use MB 90% of the time.

Jason & Bri - this thread was intentionally premature. For those of us in dynasty/keeper leagues, temporary surges/plunges in player values could produce a short-term trading opportunity. In other words, I'm curious to get people's perspectives on what this has done to fantasy values, regardless of who the new coach is.Example - my perspective is that Terry Glenn's value has declined because 1) he's getting older, 2) a new coach is unlikely to show loyalty to a declining veteran WRAdditionally, I'd say Barber is the big winner here. Parcells was sticking with the platoon system because it seemed to work, but many would say that Barber is clearly the better RB. A new coach could provide Barber the chance to start.....whereas Parcells seemed content to remain status quo.Personally, I have no clue about the 3-4 vs 4-3. Seems likely that they stick with a 3-4.

you'll have to check contracts re Barber and Jones they might be "untradable" in which case I don't think it matters. Glenn is real quick at getting to a spot and a value in any offense even if he has to get knocked to 3rd WR he's still quite valuable at times. This early, I'd guess TO is the one at risk. New coach might not want to deal with his BS. BUT I think TO would do fine anywhere so all in all it wouldn't affect his value. In these circumstances only the "product of the system" types seem to lose value and I don't see the Cowboys having any of them. Some linemen sure but not FF skill position guys
