The packs you get from the specialty asian markets are the best. Although I rarely use the spice packets they give. For something quick, I'll put together some combination of light/dark soy sauce, mirin, oyster sauce, brown sugar.
I like to cook so I make homemade for us every couple of months - the whole smear ...
homemade stock, thin slice meat (sometimes raw and let cook in broth), teriyaki hard boiled eggs, sliced nori, good fresh noodles from the Asian mkt - sesame oil, chili oil, tiny dried shrimps, etc.
Seriously, I just got a pack of these. The ones I have are actually stir fry noodles. You boil the noodles like regular instant ramen, but then you drain most of the water and toss it with the sauce. Anyway, I like to eat the hottest stuff in the world but these instant noodles might actually be TOO hot. The flavor is incredible though.
My 21-year-old kid decided to start cooking from out of nowhere and he’s taken to homemade ramen. He even does the soft boiled eggs which he marinates for a day in advance. When I was his age, I was doing Top Ramen six for $1.00. Kids these days.
