What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

damn beer just shot foam everywhere. All over the coffee table, all over my remote. I mean all over the remote...it will never be the same.

:hot:

I have not had any New Glarus, but from reading some of your reviews it is high on the list of things I need to try. Fortunately, there is good news on the horizon locally. A distributor said that St. Bernardus Abt 12 60th Anniv. Edition should be out soon as well as Jolly Pumpkin expanding their distribution down here. Plus the Brewgrass Festival is only 6 weeks away, as well as the selling of the limited edition "Double" Gaelic Ale that Highland Brewing is coming out with in 1 liter swing-top bottles. Almost the one year Anniversary of popping the cap, and I am very thankful.

No beer...yet. But oncall or not, I'm going to have one or two when (if) I get home. My f'n car left me stranded an hour ago for the 2nd time in less than a week. Had a few spare minutes so I thought I'd head over to the beer store. They were closed. I was low on gas so I went to fill up. After I finished, it wouldn't start. Dead battery. Got a jump. Came back to work. I'm sure when I go back out it'll be dead again and I'll need another jump. Last week it was a siezed brake. That one was fun too.Thank St. Bernardus I'm getting a new car tomorrow.
It got better. I go out and try to start the car. Turns over, almost starts, then the battery gives up. Go back in the building to ask security to give me jump. "We can't, you know, lawsuits." f'n lawyers. (except Winston) f'n lazy ### security #####es. So I catch a guy on the way out who'd just got off work. Ask if he can give me a jump. "Sure, if you have cables." Alright, I can get out of here. We talk on the way to the car. I mention that I'm getting a new car. "Hey, I'd like to buy this one is the price is reasonable." I haven't thought about a price yet, but I'll let ya know. Get it started. Since the battery was dead, the computer resets so it runs rough at first and I have to gun it. Guy pulls off the cables for me. I put it in reverse...and sideswipe the light pole I was parked next to. :wall: Guess he might not want to buy it now.

New Glarus is building a much larger brewery to increase production. My dad is the project manager for and the good news is that he told me the owners are being very meticulous about how it is built because they don't want to sacrifice quality for quantity.

I hope you are having a beer now. I have had those kind of nights where it seems nothing at all can go right. What is the new car?

Needed something that looked decent and was better on gas than the Durango.Edit to add: suprised I didn't hit a deer on the way home...and get a speeding ticket.

You actually listened to what they were saying in that thread? Sounds like an upgrade, althought I am sure you will miss the storage capacity of the Durango.

Nah, not them. I went to Hooters the night I agreed on it. Girls: "what'd you get?" Acura RSX. "Chick car. I have one of those." "Me too." I think 3 of them did.But yeah, it's an upgrade. The only thing I'll miss about the Durango is being able to carry 7 people, but that happens about twice a year. Oh, and throwing my dogs in the back. They're not gonna sniff this car.

I'm a big fan of New Glarus. For the most part, really liked everything I've had. Looking forward to trying their other beers

Stouts Hefe down. On a Hop Devil now. No glass. #### the glass dammit.
Just pour more and more Hopdevil down the gullet. All will be well shortly thereafter.
2 problems. That whole being on call thing and....last Hop Devil. All I have in the fridge now is one last hefe. I did that on purpose. Afraid I might get carried away. Think I might go throw something in the fridge though. 2 beers isn;t going to cut it.

:boxing: Duvel in the fridge.

Skylord's homebrew: Old Procrastinator. Someone said this is an Oatmeal Wine...Never heard of such a thing??? But anyway...

Pours a murky brown, not much carbonation. Slight off-white head that dissapates rather quickly. Looks a bit menacing

Aroma: interesting. Im getting some spice in the nose...maybe some allspice, raisins...kinda bready, as well as some alcohol (sherry comes to mind) and toffee.

Taste: Interesting again. No hops present. I get the sherry-like taste (minus the tannins), and some spice as well, much like the nose. Raisins are in the front...A very sweet beer. Toffee like flavor in the middle, very creamy taste and a tangy/dry finish. Lots of maltiness, and maybe a slight nuttiness. No alcohol burn at all, but its got a dessert wine-like feel to it. Very interesting.

Mouthfeel: Slick, slick, slick. The low carbonation gives it an oily feel, and it slides right down easily. Very easy to drink.

Drinkability suffers for me a *bit*, as Im not a big fan of really sweet beers, but its definately not bad at all and its easy to drink. No way could I attempt a 2nd bomber, but this one is not a problem.

The only thing Ive had that I can compare it to is Bells Third Coast Old Ale, which was the maltiest (and strongest) malt bomb Ive ever had...The alcohol in this one isnt as heavy as the Bells, but thats the closest beer Ive had that is similar in taste. I love tring new beers, and this is no exception.

Many thanks to Skylord who sent me this a while ago, even thought I didnt know it until last week :D If you ever have more homebrews youd like to share, youve got my addy ;) BTW, whats the approx ABV of this one?? Just curious, as it went down so easily...Id guess in the 6% neighborhood???

I'd say closer to 12%. I blew the cap on the fermenter and stained the ceiling. Beers commonly lose their carbonation over time so I'm not too surprised. The sweetness does, if I can find the rest of the bottles then I'll need to sample one.

Must have a big place to be losing beer.

I didn't take a hydrometer, I'm just guessing from the grains and malt extract. Duckboy, how was the buzz that you got from it?

Pretty decent after I finished it. Probably wouldn't put it at 12, but it was pretty sneaky - 10 or so wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, I probably lost some fermentables after it sprayed all over my kitchen :(
