What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (14 Viewers)

You need to get at least a case of the Black Butte.

I've enjoyed Mirror Pond, but it sounds like some others are more highly-recommended from people here.

We don't get Deschutes out here, sadly.

Stopped on the way home from work:

2 4 packs of Daisy Cutter

Blood of the Unicorn

Hophenge Experimental IPA

Wookey Jack

Hop Stoopid

I am planning on brewing this tomorrow.

Thursday night a group of about 10 guys are getting together for a bottle share in honor of a buddy who is getting married Saturday. A bottle of 2011 Utopia will be opened by the host. :o There's nothing anyone else can do to meet the request to "bring a bottle worthy of this bottle share", but gotta make a respectable effort...

I have some solid choices available from when everything was 30% at a local liqueur store that was struggling to pay its bills a few months ago. I've done a pretty good job of pacing myself on those but all the Unibroue and Chimay are gone. Need to figure out which of the remaining stock to bring.
Of those pictured (ignoring the Chimay and Unibroue stuff, like you said), I'd go with St. Bernardus Tripel and Ommegang Three Philsosophers. I've not had those Green Flash beers though, those could be decent. Never been a huge fan of the Abbey Ale, but I haven't had it recently. I can't tell what the bottle in the far back left is.

How old are the 3 Philosophers/Abbey Ale? Those are the old labels.
2011A college buddy is in town and will be tagging along, so I guess we'll bring four bottles... Three Philosophers, Abbey Ale, Green Flash Trippel, and Affligem Tripel.
Huge fan of Ommegang, so i'd always thoroughly endorse the two of their offerings, just know that the three philophers tends to very heavy on the palate and would recommend it very late in the tasting. Since I can also say that I also enjoy the belgian trappist styles and the St. Bernardis Tripel is my go-to upper end choice.

Is that a Furious clone?
I think so. It was put together with Surly and I am hoping it comes out ok.
Yeah, I saw that Surly was involved and figured it was possible with the name "Ferocious". I'm not sure which hops are in Furious, though. Love that beer so much.
Surly uses Warrior, Simcoe, Ahtanum and Amarillo in Furious which is what it comes with. I have a blonde ale kit that I might hit the hell out of with citra and/or centennial as an experiment. Anyway, drinking some Daisy Cutter.

Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron imperial brown ale - Really interesting beer as it is brewed in the largest wood brewing vats since the Prohibiiton. It has strong woody notes, oaky vanilla, caramel, toffee, smokiness. and some bourbon booziness, but nicely hidden alcohol for 12% ABV. Definitely worth checking out.

Bell's Two Hearted

Four Peaks Hop Knot

SanTan Devil's Ale

Mudshark Devil's IPA

And several of each. I'm drunk.

Bought a 12-pack on Saturday of something called Third Shift Band of Brewers Amber Lager, which by length of name should have scared me off, but it was on sale. I've got about 6 left and though I'll choke down all of them, this is not set up for a repeat purchase. It isn't the worst beer I've ever had, but it hails from Ft. Worth and that's probably some sort of sign.

Saw that stuff at Safeway. Thanks for the report ill pass.

This is a fairly interesting endeavor Top of the Hops: Paste IPA Challenge. Granted though, you could cast stones at the selection committee all day...

First round results and updated bracket.

Coincidentally I enjoyed two of the first round winners at home last night (Ranger and Snake Dog).
Tough first round matchup. Sculpin V Racer 5
If they straight seeded them all it would be an all West coast Sweet 16. Don't like the regional setup.

Ummmm. No.

The whole bottom half of that bracket is tough. Sculpin, Racer 5, Green Flash, Blind Pig... I see that Green Flash lost to Uinta which I am unfamiliar with, but I think my Costco is carrying it right now. May have to go check it out since Green Flash is one of my favorites.

New Belgium Shift

Troegs Nugget Nectar

New Holland Blue Sunday Sour (love the 2013 edition, best they've done IMO)

Hair of the Dog Doggie Claws

Easter weekend? Southern Tier 2x Stout (double milk stout? Sounds great, looking forward to it) and Ommegang's Three philosophers (my bold work-horse that I default when I want complexity)

Deschutes Black Butte, the best porter I have ever had. Red Chair NWPA, really good beer. Thanks for the recommendations.

I know this is the beer snob thread and I'll be laughed out, but just plain Sam Adams Lager.

It's been a while since I have had some sammies and I forgot how good a beer it is.
