What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Ok, I am home now. Spent a few hours at the Surly brewery. Man that place brews good stuff. They will make it big when they finally bottle. Until then, I am more than happy to call it my local brewery.

Had a Bitter Woman from Hell when I got home.

Now drinking a Celebrator.

Great beer night. Too bad I have to be up at 3am.

drank on a Newcastle keg at work for a while. Now that I'm home, I've got a difficult decision ahead of me. Lot of beer to choose from

I am trying to decide what else to have myself, although I never have had a keg at work.

I was gonna do a Bakes beer, but then this 3F jumped out at me....the Rabbid Rabbit saison.

Its hot as balls in my house right now, and a saison sounds good!

picked up a Sam Adams Brewmaster pack. Black Lager, Brown Ale, and Hefeweizen. All three get the
I don't like their hefe. Did it have the Boston Ale or Scotch Ale? Those are good.

Finally popped open the Duchesse De Bourgogne. I'm not sure what to think about it after smelling it. :scared:

Happens periodically. My team had a party so I got a keg. Decision was between Gordon Biersch, Firestone or Newcastle and I let the assistant choose. He chose Newcaste.I lived :banned:

The Duchesse was my first introduction to the Flanders Red Ale. I think the Rodenbach Grand Cru is better, but I still like the Duchesse. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to try the Alexander.

Wow. What an interesting beer. Sweet, but sour.
Find a Rodenbach Grand Cru. Now. This is a fascinating beer style, and I am one of those people that loves the sweet/sour combination.
Thanks, I will. This is not a style I'll have often, but nice to have occassionally.

The Duchesse isn't the beer to judge the style by. Get the Rodenback like Trout recommended. That there's a mighty fine beer.

I have had a few beers out at the pub, and I made the mistake again tonight of popping open a new beer after having a buzz. But I am at least sober enough to appreciate the Avery 13, which advertises itself as a 'Weizen Dopplebock'. I have not been a huge fan of Avery, but this beer is done very well. Its great to see this style reproduced in the US, as most of the craft brew fad has been leaning towards big ales, and its nice to see a big lager. The malt profile shines in this one, and there is a nice alcohol burn at the end that is present but not too strong.

Great to hear, I've got a bottle nestled away.

Greetings from Michigan, #####es!!!!

Good news: I have secured a CASE (thats 24 bottles) of Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock (2003 vintage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).....so I have enough for everyone....The only bad news is the bottles arent the genie-looking ones like the pic on BA....but that is of no consequence. I have tried it, and it is wonderful. :pickle:

I met a guy there that talked me into drinking more beer than I wanted to, but it was a great experience and I have a new trading partner that wants some DFH....

Also, their Creme Brule Stout is FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC, as is their IPA and Hefeweiss.

I spent so much money they gave me 2 free pint glasses

So....When I get back next week, Ill be taking trade offers

Have fun, yall....I know I wilL!!!

I also bought 2 growlers of their IPA and a growler of their unique, VERY tasty Creme Brulee Stout. Wonderful!

!!!!!!!!!!

Well, tell me now if you are interested so I can get them while they are still there. I could get you an interesting beer from Town Hall in a growler trade. Their new India Wheat....

:bag:

I spent over $300 at my first beer stop. This vacation is gonna drain me.
You'll make it up in trades. Think of it as an "investment". Don't you work for a liquor store? Can't you write this off?

That's good work. Wish I was around there (in laws have a place in Michigan City) or that you could stop around here. I would love to meet some of the people that I talk with every night.

Next up is a BakesBeer™

Heavyweight Two Druids Gruit Ale. This one is retired :40formyhomies:
I made a beer that smells *exactly* like this beer. Flavored it with Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer Tea....what a trip.

I don't know that I would have the patience to brew my own. I am perfectionist and the fact that I couldn't make a Ruination clone right away woud piss me off.

Hello? Wingnut?  Should I pick up a growler of Town Hall India Wheat for a future trade?
Im not worried about trades...Ill send yall a bottle of the Raspberry Eisbock just cause you guys are my beer homies  http://myfilestash.com/userfiles/tdsteve_2000/DSCF0003.JPG

(im on dial up right now so Im a little frustraded at the online speed)
When are you heading home? Just wondering if I should drive to Russian River to get Pliney on Sunday or next weekend.

Really?By the way, good call on the Pilsner Urquell. I'd rather drink Bud.
Arrogant ******* - definitely. I (at least at this point) just do not like the seriously hoppy taste.Dead Guy - one of the very first I tried. Going to pick some more up soon to try again now that I've had a few others. I think I'll like it more.

Shakespeare Stout - just not to my liking.

Hopefully someday I'll get to where I enjoy the hops more. That way my choices will more than double.

Hanging out with Old Rasputin tonight. Love that beer. Feelin it after 3 though.

Wingnut, we'll have to talk when you get back. Both the Raspberry Eisbock and Creme Brulee sound tasty :banned: And I happen to live in the home of Hair of the Dog, so let me know what you like there.
