What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Sup all...

Still in Michigan...Spent last night on Mackinac Island....Had a few Bells Oberons with dinner, then went next door and had some of the same ON DRAFT. :excited:

Then tonight, I discover a bar here in Bay City called the Stein House....holy crap what a great bar for this area. The place has no TVs, no jukebox, but is old world style and had probably 1000+ steins all over the walls and ceilings of every size and shape...VERY cool place. Beer served in proper glassware. And the girl working there, Emily, was rediculously knowledgeable about beer and styles, and was hot to boot  Soon theyll have about 10 Dragonmead beers on tap... :banned:

Various bottles and drafts, including tons of GErmans Ive never heard of as well as Weihenstephaner, Hacker Pschorr, Ayinger, Paulaner, Chimay, Orval, Lindemans, about 12 different Bells, some Dragonmead Brewery (the Nagelweiss on draft was friggin EXCELLENT), Arcadia, Great Lakes, Rogue, Sam Adams Choc Bock...the list was OUT FRICKEN STANDING. Im gonna put a review on BA when I get back...

Also hit the local Brewpub, Lumber Barons...the Stout was good, the IPA was average...they close at 10 so thats all I got to try there (the food was average as well)

Tomorrow Im gonna have a growler of Kuhnhenn IPA with some venison, fried perch, and some koegel hot dogs

Sad but wonderful truth.

I'm having a really hard time dealing with something. Stonewall party just happened at Stone Brewing Company and I didn't get tickets.

Stone poured the Stonewall ale, a 12.8% barleywine they made specially for the party (strongest beer stone has made).

I don't have a bottle and I don't know if I'll get one. :(

Did you guys know that 1arrogantbastard on BA is Greg Koch? I might have to start hanging out more in the pacific forums.

FYI, I am not Tip Top on BA ;)
here is what i rated them at BA. Very nice send on your part TT. Masala Mama India Pale Ale - 4.35

Dogfish Head ApriHop - 3.95

HopDevil Ale - 4.15

Stone Tepee Pale Ale - 3.9

Two Hearted Ale - 4.1

:(

I'm been thinking about opening up a beer bar in the town I work in for a while (Culver City). The town is really growing and needs a weekend scene. By the time my next project ends I might have enough money to actually do it.

I just read on the forums that the owner of Fathers Office is opening up FO2...and its going to be in downtown Culver City. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails.

:wall:

Its almost like a cruel practical joke

Glad I didn't disappoint. Unusual that there isn't one in the bunch that doesn't live up to the recipient's hopes.

I still think you should go for it. You would have the knowledge to make it something different.

There are definitely more good midwest IPA's. We will have to work something out again sometime.

TT - Fantome update?
What update are you looking for? Blue Max probably had 6 different ones last time I was there if that is what you are looking for.
do you remember which of the Fantome's they had?right now i have:

Chocolat

Saison

Circus

Brise Bon Bons

i'm supposed to be receiving a bottle of Black Ghost from Sam's and another 2 in trade.... i THINK another Circus and a bottle of Printemps.

Monks Cafe Flemish Sour Red ale. Its good to be home.
Nice beer. Had it on draft at the Hop Leaf in Chicago a while back.Although I think I prefer Rodenbach or Duchesse in that style
The bottle looked new but the beer tasted old. Didn't have much character at all. Like a watered down Duchesse

Going to the Cubs game tonight. Will be sampling the Old Style and OS Light. Will get back to you guys with a review some time later in the week. You can thank me later. :bowtie:

Well, it's $4.50 a beer as a 4-pack retail. So figure out how many beers per pitcher, and there ya go.Or were you making the obligatory "beisbol" joke? :bag:

Well, given that most beers that you would pay 4 or 5 bucks for at a bar are 1-1.50 to buy in a liquor store, how much markup do they put on a beer that is 4.50 in a liquor store?

About an hour away from a red rocket and racer 5

TT, did you get the PM with the tracking number?

Enjoy your trip. Also, don't drink all of that Fred from the Wood right away. Gotta cellar at least a bottle or two of stuff like that.

just met one of the BA's (traded for a BiF beer!). had a Titletown Cole Porter.

excellent beer. better than the the Bully! Porter that i had a couple weekends ago. very smooth. nice little sweetness to it. i'd definitely drink it again w/o hesitation.

Got to the Racer 5. Nice head on this thing.

ETA: is it supposed to have "stuff" floating in it?

Its pretty rare that after 6600 posts you get to introduce a new beer into this thread. I just finished a SkullSplitter, which is a Scotch Wee Heavy, from of all places, Scotland. This is a classic example of the style, with malt being in the forefront. Toffee like taste, with a hint of smoke/peat which I was hoping would be a little bit stronger. Just a tad bit of alcohol burn. Good beer and I may have to visit this one again (bought a single).

Seriously, floaters . . . .
The one time I really need a vet. beer drinker and no one is around. :missing:
Yeast? I don't remember, but it is very possible that it is bottle conditioned, which would explain your "floaters".ETA: Some people are still at work. :(
