What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

This just in:

Dreadnaught is a Freaking. GREAT. Beer.

Very comparable to the Pliny the Elder that I had at the OBF (though I think I prefer the Pliny slightly). Could smell the hops the second the cap came off - a definite hop bomb. Very easy drinking for such a power-packed beer.

I think I'll go malt after this one - -too much hops for anything but the DFH 120 I still have. Bells Porter and Edmund Fitzgerald for the next two.

My fellow FBG Beer Lovers:

In these difficult and mean-spirited times in which we live there needs to be a message of hope. Just a single image that speaks to us of love, harmony, peace and joy. An image that suggests the universal brotherhood of man. I have found that image, and I ask that all of you take a moment to be inspired by it.

Now that my nephews are gone, my son is consoled after attempting to take off his head on the corner of a dresser, and both my kids are in bed, I can enjoy the Dreadnaught that I think has reached optimum temp.

Oh and maybe I'll have some of these from this afterward.

So anyone find that dead FBG yet?
:pickle: re the dead FBG: we're not entirely sure but nase may have had something to do with it. shhhhh.

Creative Memories, that has got to be a box from me at one point. My wife is a rep.

Let's just say my wife (who does a lot of scrpbooking) was super excited at seeing the package. Her comment after I told her what I assumed through Furley's prodding was: "WTH? Beer? In a Creative Memories box? That's just wrong!"Beer Count - all 12 oz:

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter (the only one I have)

Goose Island Oktoberfest

Viking Big Swede Imperial Stout

Lake Louie Tommy's Porter

Central Waters Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout

Tyranena Rocky's Revenge Bourbon Barrel Aged Brown Ale

This is quite a haul. Thanks furley - you hit my favorite styles: combo ofmalty beverages and bourbon barrel aging. I'm going to enjoy these.

Sorry you couldn't stay awake long enough though. If Jamie had been about a half inch farther to the left, I'd still be in the emergency room getting him stitches; as it is, he's going to look great in the wedding photos with a 3-inch welt/gouge on the side of his head.
 hey, kids happen. my brother has a similar gash. split his cocoa bean on a window sill when we were about 4-5.

since then he's been kicked between the eyes by a horse and concussed on numerous occassions.. it's like he's got a magnet in there. hope your boy isn't cursed with the same.

can't wait to hear reviews of the beers. :banned:

 Onto the Bells Porter.

The Bells Porter was very good, nothing extra spectacular but a solid porter. I'm wondering if the Dreadnaught didn't kill it off a little. Glad I have a couple more to compare - thanks NG.

The Ed Fitz went back in the fridge - would just be too much tonight. I think tomorrow will be porter and old ale night.

Where is everybody? Just because it's almost 1:00 Pacific...

Doctored ever so slightly to get rid of some trees. At the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold

Is it too early for a beer? My wife and daughter just left. Wife: "I'm sure you'll still be sitting there when we get back." Daughter: "Probably drinking a beer."

I'd hate to disappoint them.

Some New Standards for Forums & Groups

Posted: 08-09-2006 13:37:20 UTC

--

In an effort to make the forums & groups more readable, the following standards will be applied to our current rules to clean things up a bit:

* Post in the correct forum or group.

* Subjects need to be more clear, specific and act as a lead into your post vs being vague. You'll get more reads with this.

* If you're linking to another page or website, describe the link so others have a clue as to what they're about to click on.

* Use proper capitalization throughout your post (it's called the "Shift" key) -- this greatly increases readability.

* If you're using an exclamation or question mark, one will do.

* Do not use ALL CAPS when typing.

* Starting a new paragraph? Hit "Enter" twice in order to make a clean break and increase readability.

* Minor misspellings are acceptable, but we highly recommend that you spell-check your post before submitting it.

Failure to use these standards could result in the immediate deletion of your post.

--

If anyone has additional items they'd like to see added to the list, let us know.

Thanks, Todd

furley = :kicksrock: about BA forums

I got called in. :(

Good thing though is my wife will be out tonight so I'm in no rush to get home. The very nice beer bar near here has St. Bernardus on tap. Think I'll stop by. :banned:

:yes:i like to post in the Great Lakes forum. learn some new ####.. talk about local goings on. not anymore i guess.
But do they really have people modding all of those forums and groups? Surely, the average user wouldn't report someone for this, would they?
judging by the 70+ post long thread of people #####ing about how bad everyone's grammar is... i'd have to say, yes, they would report a ninja.

HE'BREW Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A (Double Rye IPA)

Nothing small here.

Usually go for the more floral, flavor-hopped, brews.

This one is real bitter.

And this one is real sweet.

This one is a real ####### ###-kicker.

I think that is a no brainer there.
Since I was on call, I wanted to go in and get a quick beer. Maybe 2.St. Bernardus on tap.Celebrator on tap.Storm King on cask. And a couple of samples of some things on tap I hadn't tried. ;) Schneider Aventinus Eisbock. Stone Ruination. Also had a glass of a Belgian that I had never had or heard of. Oud Lambic. Way tart. Very good. Low alcohol.
