For the price it's fantastic. We purchase it by the case, and use it as our standard table wine. We also drink a ton of Two Buck Chuck.I've heard really good stuff about this wine, but haven't picked up a bottle yet.My wife and I had a couple Menage a trois'![]()
How many do you want to know about and what kind?Speaking of wines we were down in Philly on Saturday and made a run to Delaware to a store called Total Wine and Stuff, wow, the place is the size of a WalMart and 3/4 wine and the rest beer and booze. very good selection and prices.
As a friend of mine says. Almost anyone can go out and find a good wine when you pay $50 to $150 a bottle, I'm more impressed by the guy that can find a really good wine for under $12 a bottle.
Agree 100%. I just don't tend to "collect" this kind of wine.Speaking of wines we were down in Philly on Saturday and made a run to Delaware to a store called Total Wine and Stuff, wow, the place is the size of a WalMart and 3/4 wine and the rest beer and booze. very good selection and prices.

it. They also have cigars I guess. I just go to the store for "everyday wine".No, but you should have a good selection of reasonably priced good bottles of wine handy in case you want to drink one.Agree 100%. Oh I know there are a bunch...I was just saying that those are always a good find to me. Let's start with which are your favorites for under $12 ?Personally my two favorites are Red Cat from Hazlitt 1852 located up in the Finger Lakes and Tears of Gettysburg from Adams County Winery right here in good old PA. The Red Cat is a Semi Sweet blend of Catawba and Baco Noir and retails for about $8 to $9. The Tears of Gettysburg is a sweet Niagra. How many do you want to know about and what kind?Speaking of wines we were down in Philly on Saturday and made a run to Delaware to a store called Total Wine and Stuff, wow, the place is the size of a WalMart and 3/4 wine and the rest beer and booze. very good selection and prices.

I just can't ever manage to step foot in the place without dropping $100. :(
We got away light spending about $85 but I'm sure the next visit will be more. With having a 13 month year old, not too many of my family/friends do the "swing by" without calling first.Your advice is sound, in the future I will keep a more regular representation in my wine fridge. For now though....it's just the "keepers".I go to the local wine shop - the owner knows a ton about wine, I get to taste before I buy, and I learn a whole lot every time I go in there. That, and I get to support a local business that costs the same as a grocery store.Plus, don't you ever have people swing by to visit, and want to grab a bottle of wine to share with them?I guess.

I'll throw a couple out there.Casamaro Tempranillo $6 (They also have a red. Now I also love the Ugly Dog Concord and Niagara's which at a cost (to produce) of about $2 a bottle are as cheap as you can get, but unless you come to visit chances are you aren't getting any as we don't sell any.![]()
We have Binny's in the Chicago area and my GF cringes when I go there because I, like you, never spend less than $100. I also spend at least a half hour in the joint. I can do that in a regular liquor store with only 2 wine aisles though (if they are quality).I think you mean Total Wines and More. Since 1992. I do attend a lot of wine dinners, wine tastings, and have sat and drank wine with Emily Miner, Rick Hutchinson, and with the Arrigoni family while in Italy. I love wine. I love Red wine most but I do enjoy a nice white. Wine can make a meal so much better. Some people might not think so but I was the same way. It took awhile but I am very glad that I learned to appreciate a good wine.Jules - how long have you been into collecting, if I may ask? Every time I come to these wine threads you have some solid advice or are coming back from wine country in some other country (Italy, etc).
True, but which one is universally appealing with every type of food (for the most part)Different wines compliment different food.

Great answer, and correct...but not what i'm looking for. Think about which one can just enhance your palate without changing it.Whatever you like to drink.Wine education time:

Your turn.No. Seriously. When people ask me what wine should they drink with their meal I tell them "Well two choices. You can drink whatever you like best because it's what you like."Gee thanks.Whatever you like to drink.Wine education time:

Which side of the river it was grown on?Let me do a different one.
If you can tell that a wine house is a left bank or a right bank wine house in the Bordeaux region what will that tell you about the wine?
I'm fairly ignorant with french wines. I'm pretty sure you can only get sauterns from the west bank, but not sure.Ohh I'm sorry. You didn't phrase it in the form of a question. You see the answer is "dry" but we needed it in question form.Jessica Alba, you gave us the last correct answer so please choose the next category. Jessica...Jessica!...where did she go? Jess! Here she is...on the floor at my feet. unzipSorry...we got busy there for a few.I was kidding. Actually I screwed this one up. Kinda. Here is the answer: Cab Sauv and Merlot are the two main Bordeaux grapes and knowing this will help you to know what the body and flavor of said wine will be. Since Merlot and Cab Sauv are two distinct grapes with differing flavors and bodies if you know where said Bordeaux wine hails from you will have a much easier time to know what the wine will be like. There are 3 top different wine areas. There is the Left Bank, Right Bank, and Graves. There are three rivers to know. The Gironde is the major one and the two minor ones are Dordogne and Garonne. It's not knowing the names that is important but how they flow is. The better vineyards to the left ot the Gironde is Bordeaux's Left Bank. The zone at the top, near the actual city of Bordeaux, is the Right Bank, and west of the two forking rivers is called the Graves Region.Which side of the river it was grown on?Let me do a different one.

I know I've heard it before and it's driving me crazy. I don't want to pull out my wine lovers guide, but I need to for the correct answer here.
I'll take the Graves region. It's a 50/50 blend of both.A little Jessica Alba here and I'll have Jessica Simpson here and I'll have...ooopsOnly 23 minutes between posts Jules? I would have spent a little more time with Jessica...
Left bank = Jessica Alba
Right bank = Jessica Simpson
Both are the combination and blending of several of the best characteristics their respective regions have to offer. Good vintages for both (1980 and 1981). Excellent colour, great aroma. Full bodied with nice legs. Firm but supple tannins.
But I digress...
Grape used in most white Italian wines?Alright.
