What picks did you immediately regret making? (1 Viewer)

Arian Foster at 1.5 last night. I actually prefaced the pick with: "I really don't want to make this pick, but..." I just don't feel good about him this year in general and using your first pick on a guy that is already hurt is generally not a recipe for success. There is obviously great potential value with that pick though so I rolled the dice and picked up Tate later. Still, every time I scan my final roster I cringe thinking of all the weeks i'm going to be watching the last minute injury reports because he is a GTD.
I dont understand this complaint. Whos to say the alternatives you wouldve drafted wouldnt have had injury issues & GTD problems later in the year either?

Carolina Steve Smith, even though it was w/ the 2nd pick of the 8th Rd (12 team, .5 ppr; start 2 WR, but also 2 flex). He's the WR3 behind Calvin & Tampa Mike on my roster. My WR depth sucks behind those 2, hoping some late Rd flier pans out

I don't understand this reply. Who's to say that Drew Brees won't soon have a neck injury and miss a significant portion of the season, so should I just take Manning? The point is that Foster is already hurt and I regret rolling the dice on him. My league is 6 pts for all TDs so my alternative pick would have been Rodgers. He could very well get hurt in week 1, but that doesn't mean that at the time of the pick he wasn't less of an injury risk than the guy who has an existing injury.

MJD in the 2nd. WTF was I thinking?! Guess I got nostalgia... this was gonna be my first year since he was a rook that he wasn't on any teams of mine... well, now he is. Passed on such valuable commodities as Mendenhall (thought, hey it's PPR and he doesn't catch much... although it's only .5 for RBs), McFadden (thought, oh, he's an injury risk and I already have him in another league), Nicks, Vjax... any of those guys over MJD.

Then in the same draft I took Britt as my 4th WR in the 6th (MJD still my only back) when I really wanted Hightower, but forgot. Luckily he made it all the way back through 14 picks. I only have to start one RB so hopefully those 2 can carry me.

This was a mid-August draft but even right after the draft I regretted Ryan Grant at 6.09 and Ochocinco at 8.09.... (12 team, PPR)

Immediately: Marshawn Lynch in the 5th. I have no confidence in Tarvaris Jackson moving a small coffee table, much less an entire NFL offense. Lynch might get 900 yards, but would only a handful of scores surprise anyone?

Later: Realized after the draft that I have a lot of Lions (Megatron, Stafford, Pettigrew). Happy with where I got them all, but not sure I really needed an all-Lions fantasy team.

In one league, Best at 4.10 (46th overall) is bothering me. Felix Jones was still on the board - this was a month ago (when Jones had been going much later than he is now). Since then Best's stock has been plummeting while Jones' is soaring. I hate my Ochocinco pick (7.03, 75th) in the same draft. At the time, it seemed Ocho was a great "home run" play (on my roster, he projects to be my first bench option). Then the preseason games started and his stock has plummeted. In retrospect, there were much better options at WR in the next round (Boldin, Britt, SMoss, JJones). And if I could have a do-over in round 1 I'd take Rice instead of Foster (at 1.03).

Draft Dominator's "team strength" stat has been punishing this squad. In a month I've gone from "strongest team in the league, and you're a lock to make the playoffs" to "ehh ... maybe you'll make the playoffs ... if you're lucky" :(

3.12 Best, 4.1 Romo, 5.12 Marshall, 6.1 Mathews....ugh did not like that draft.
Depending on the format, all 4 of those picks could be really solid. Not a huge Best guy, but at 36 overall who else was there comparable?
Ya drafted based on value, but usually don't like to have so many questions on the same team, plus taking a QB (6pt passing TD) early I now have a P.Thomas/M.Thomas as my Flex2. After 36 there was Ingram, Bradshaw, Loyd, Deangelo, and Bowe avail. Not horrible but need some good fortune (health, etc).

Anyone have any picks they regretted making this year?
Not sure I understand why anyone would have an immediate regret on a pick? Didn't you have tons of time to consider the possibilities? If I pick Joe over Blow, I like Joe moreNow weeks later you might have some buyers remorse based on what has happened, pre-season games, other roster moves but that is a more understandable "buyers remorse"

Picking Flacco as my backup QB to Vick (didn't realize they had the same bye week). I spent a decent mid round pick on him too (like a 8th rounder).

An all Lions fantasy will not be pretty good this year. The only one I would be weary of would be Best, but the guys you got will be rock solid.

My first 3 picks (2 of which were rbs) all had a week 8 bye. I wasn't paying attention to that at first and realized it after my 3rd pick. So at first I regretted it. Eventually I just decided to screw week 8 and hope that the lack of players on byes during other weeks would turn other games into wins for me and even out. So now I have 5 of 11 starters with a week 8 bye. I've already congratulated that owner on the win.

Gave myself a big slap on forehead right after I took Maclin at 5.03 instead of Austin. The rest of my team was pretty sweet though.

Immediately didn't like taking Michael Turner at #13 (2.01) but with a ton of RBs off the board (and I took Megatron at #12) and 22 picks to get back to me I took him. I feared then that he's slowing down. And I failed to get Snelling.
I was in a similar situation albeit in an auction/contract league. Had A.Johnson, H.Nicks and M.Austin on board as keepers and had just bought Romo. But I had no RB's on my roster except for Ryan Williams (pre-injury).Gore, S.Jackson and MJD all went for considerably more with Bradshaw going for slightly more a bit later. I didn't overpay necessarily, but I didn't get such a good deal that it helped out elsewhere. So my top 4 RB's are M.Turner, F.Jones, D.Williams and J.Stewart.

Kinda wish I had saved the money and swung for the fences with Ryan Matthews + J.Best or took a chance on P.Hillis. But Turner came out early and I knew some guys where hanging back to snipe at Matthews and Best in particular, so I was afraid I might end up overpaying for them if I waited. Regretting that big time now.

Miles Austin 3.05

Was going to go QB there but Brees and Rivers went right before my pick. Austin was clear BPA along with Schaub, but I already took Andre Johnson. Did not have him on my radar at all this year and did not know about hamstring. :bag:

Taking Reggie Wayne at 3.4 in a 12 team redraft. Santonio Holmes, Dez Bryant, Dwayne Bowe, and Mike Williams were still on the board. I took him as my #2 WR.

I have mild regrets (call it anxiety) at having taken Andre Johnson at 1.06 in my 12 team ppr. I am wondering if I went temporarily insane. I actually passed on Foster and Charles!!!

I allowed myself to become overly spooked on Foster's twitter hamstring drama as well as all the talk of Chief's HC Todd Haley being a major psycho in concert with the Chief's much more difficult schedule this season. I already have both of them on my dynasty league roster, so I did not want all me fantasy eggs in one basket. So I took a huge risk and passed on both of them.

When my next pick came at 2.07, I figured, what the heck, the top two rated rb's left on the board were Hillis and Felix Jones, and I was not that high on either of them at that pick so I decided to wrap up my starting WR's. So I selected Nicks.

Needless to say - with those decisions I made a very tough road to hoe with my running backs.

I regret grabbing Peyton Hillis over Larry Fitzgerald mid 2nd round. Way more injury risk with Hillis. Also, the way the draft played out based on this one decision, it ended up really hurting me at TE. At the time, I was really worried about a huge run on RBs but it never really materialized the way I thought it would.

Spending 9% on Ingram when Best, Bradshaw, Greene, and Matthews each went for the same. Felt really bad when Benson, Reggie Bush, Fred Jackson, BGE, and Addai went for 4% each and I was broke. But at least I didn't spend 7.5% on Pierre Thomas.

Also didn't like spending 7.5% on Harvin when Marshall and Boldin went for 7.5% combined, but again I was broke. And later when Britt went for 3%.

First time at an auction draft.

Daniel Thomas. Had to get a player to potentially help cover byes, so I'm not banking on him in that league or anything, but I still hated the pick the moment I convinced myself to make it.

When I think of Ocho, I just remember Randy Moss was "going to be cut" all preseason in the year he went to New England. Those reports scared me away from Moss, and he broke out in a huge way. Not saying Ocho is Moss but situation is similar, with the anti-Ocho press this pre-season.My only regret is waiting on a QB in my 12 teamer.I got Kevin Kolb in rd. 10 as my starter, because I made value picks in first 9, expecting a much better option in 10th.Huge run on QBs at end of rd. 9 killed me.

I took Ochocinco as my WR2 in 3 leagues and absolutely hate it in all 3. The first one was an early league and I took him at 4.02 before the news of his struggles. The second was a week later and he was the best option left at 5.08. I just took him at 7.12 last night as my WR2 in a 2 WR league after going RB heavy and QB/TE fairly early. I hated him in all 3, but at the time I felt he was the best option available.
As a fellow Ocho owner who regrets picking him, I'll buy you a beer.

Brady at the end of the 3rd over Felix Jones. I hope I don't still regret that during the playoffs.

Ahmad Bradshaw in an auction. He was a luxury and 40% below my assigned value but I ended up very week at WR.

Picking up Collie in the 12th. It made me miss both Ford and Hernandez in the early 13th. This was after the Peyton Manning news so I'm stupid. While we are at it, picking up Gronkowski in the 11th because he had value instead of waiting a round and picking Hernandez who has better upside.

Oh, and Greg Jennings over Vincent Jackson. Although Vincent Jackson almost fell to me in the late 4th. And not handcuffing Michael Bush to McFadden in the 13th and instead opting for McGahee. Made so many mistakes...

BUMP FOR 2012 REGRETS

If you've drafted in the past week or two, tell us what you would do differently if you had a do-over.

Anyone have any picks they regretted making this year? For me, it was taking Nicks over Fitz. Since I had the first pick in a 14 team league, I wasn't expecting either to be available at the 2/3 turn, so was shocked to see them both there. My gut says I should have went Fitzgerald. Anyone else have buyers remorse on anyone they picked?
I took Steve Smith as my third WR then followed up with AJ Green. Sort of wonder on Smitty w/ that rookie running back throwing to him.
I hope my regrets this year work out so terribly.

I drafted Mathews 5 minutes before he got hurt, I'd have drafted Forte instead (got him at 2.2) then taken Stafford at 2.2 and instead of going Vick at 4.2 I'd have taken Doug Martin who went at 4.11 to my wife - grrrr.

Forte/Stafford/Martin > Mathews/Forte/Vick

I also got caught price checking Schaub in an auction and am now sitting on 4 QB's (Stafford/Schaub/Cutler/Wilson), would like to pair one of them with a WR or TE for a better option at that position sooner rather than later.

Feel good about the rest.

I am guessing that team as a whole was awful... :excited:

McFadden/Murray at 1.12/2.01 turn

I always draft for the playoffs and I just don't think both (maybe either) make it to week 14.

Most of my "regrets" were later round picks...

Michael Vick in the 6th - The value was nice at the time, but I had already picked up Matt Ryan. Fortunately, I traded him off for Hakeem Nicks last week, so this ended up working out for me.

My picks in rounds 10-12 I regret a little, just because of the way my team ended up working out...

10th - Jacquizz Rodgers - I like the upside, but I passed on Kevin Smith and Cedric Benson to get him.

11th - Kyle Rudolph - I don't mind having Rudolph, but I think I could have used another RB/WR for a little depth.

12th - Randall Cobb - I passed on Sidney Rice and Malcolm Floyd to grab him, and hearing about James Jones and his lessened usage than I expect, I think I could have used another WR.

Ended up with...

QB - Matt Ryan, Michael Vick (traded later for Nicks)

RB - Mcfadden, Murray, Lynch, Rodgers, Felix, Turbin

WR - Marshall, Harvin, Stevie Johnson, Cobb

TE - Vernon, Rudolph

I think all 3 of those picks were the correct ones, less confident in Cobb over Sid due to opportunity but I'm still on the fence there. At the end of the day, Sid still only has that one season and Cobb is going to breakout it's just a matter of this year or next. Rudolph's a great backup TE because I think he is going to breakout and make your starter a trade asset. Quizz is a great wait and see flier, in a league this shallow you may be able to dump him when you get to a QB or WR bye/injury and if a waiver wonder emerges he's expendable but there is all sorts of upside there. Truth be told I'd dump Felix before him even though he is cuffed to Murray, at least through September anyway.

Add me to the Mathews remorse list. Took him in several leagues (at 1.5 in one of them) and then had my heart ripped out of my chest:( I'm sure he will be back but now I have to listen to all the "I told you so" crowd.

Other than Mathews thats about been my only big regret so far. I took J Stew a couple of times but covered myself with D Will so thats all good.

LOL! Give me a minute. I can't stop laughing at all these "remorses" from last year. ROTFL."I regret taking Brady over felix....Oh no! I have Stafford and Megatron..not feeling good about it.." Some of these are classic.

Woulda taken Benson in the 10th. Like Quizz, but Benson in the 10th is very nice value, imo

I was drafting Sunday night while watching the Jets/Panthers game. I drafted J Stew as my RB3 only to see him getting carted off the field 5 picks later. D Will was snagged up before it came back to me.

:wall:

Took AJ Green in the second and all I've read about is how bad Dalton will be this year due to the offensive line woes, plus defenses double teaming Green. Not feeling good about the situation.

Accidentally let the clock run out in the 5th and was debating between Bryant and Bowe and my ranking had Lloyd at the top, so it drafted Lloyd. Really regret that as either choice would have been better. Trading Llyod after his first good game.

LOL...that is nothing...it is a keep 3 league and I like all my starters, but about 2 bench positions in, I could not find Keller for my backup TE and ended up timing out on me...I looked up and noticed I did not scrub my pre-draft list this year, and ended up with Jahvid Best as my RB3...not a big deal when you keep Rice and Foster, but still and idiot move on my part.
