These two shows aren't even really comparable and shouldn't be mentioned together ever again.

Is there an ***official*** thread for PB? What season are they on? I've never heard of it before this week but it is being talked about everywhere. Sounds interesting.

Stay as far away from SOA as you can

Unless you want to stop after season 1. Ill leave that choice for you to make

Seconded. I liked the second season with Rollins but really, watch the first season and then get out while you can.

So which did you pick?
It is like asking, should I start watching Breaking Bad or Days of Our Lives? You decide.
I'm getting the feeling that you don't know what Peaky Blinders is.
I do.

But I also know what SOA is - a glorified soap opera.
Ahhh...

Never seen Peaky Blinders. No idea what it's about although I see it on my Netflix menu. I've seen SoA. My suggestion would be go with Peaky Blinders, despite the moronic name.

I've read how the show sucked once they went to Ireland or something but thought maybe this last season brought some people around again.

The name clearly is a turnoff until you realize it's an actual name of a gang that put razors in the tops of their hats.

Those silly Brits.

Mrs. SB watches Revenge. I sat down and watched an episode with her the other day.

Me: "Sooooo, this is a daytime soap opera"

Her: "No, it's nothing like that"

Me: "A bunch of super rich, extended families? Check. Infighting and money problems? Check. Secret plotting against each other? Check. This is a soap opera. Has their been amnesia yet?"

Her: [pause] You're right, this is a soap opera"

Deleted my original response, trying not to spoil the show, but it started turning more towards soft family drama (someone mentioned soap opera for men before and that's fair) right around when they went to Ireland, and that's when I tuned out. Tried to get back in to the show via netflix a couple times but couldn't.

I hear about or watch youtube videos of some of the bigger scenes throughout the series though and they do make me wish I'd stuck with it. Heard the ending was pretty epic, may catch only that or the last two episodes at some point.

If by epic you mean absolutely awful and stupid, then yes. You hit it on the head

Yikes! I was a bit curious why I didn't hear a lot of talk on FB about the ending. I have some friends that are always posting about it.

Watch SOA through season 3.

Stop.

Assume everything was fine after that and never watch it again.
Kinda like Dexter after season 4?
I never saw Dexter but from everyone that ever talk a about it, yes. Just stop after Season 3 finale. That's the high point if the show. It falls off a cliff there after. The good part is that there's no real loose ends to tie up from that point. Just assume they went about their lives and you'll be much happier.

Not sure if this helps you make a decision, but:

SOA: 7 Seasons (92 episodes total)

PB: 2 Seasons (12 episodes total)

Watch SOA through season 3.

Stop.

No way. Season 4 was awesome.

They were being vague on my morning radio show yesterday to avoid spoilers (or possibly to troll) but they had me curious to know what happened (I'll take a spoiler in spoiler tag if it's worth posting).

Season 4 was when Juice began to think he'd get kicked out because he was black. So no it was awful.

Sorry, I was referring to Dexter. I misread and thought you meant to stop watching Dexter after season 3.

No worries. As long as we're clear on SOA.

That actually is playing a part in the decision. We don't really binge watch TV shows and there are a ton of shows coming back early next year. We could get PB in before the end of the year but SOA will take years to get through. Not sure if I'd want to put that much time into a show that even it's fans have complaints about. I don't think I could watch 3 seasons and just stop.

If you watch SOA just stop after season 2. You might want to keep going, but trust me, it's just not worth it. First two seasons are pretty solid though, season 2 in particular is really good tv.

For as much hate as it (deservedly, lately) gets SoA was a pretty damn good show through three seasons.

After that it's like Michael Bay smoked meth and wrote a biker movie.

Never seen SOA. Peaky Blinders is really good though. Highly recommend, especially if you're a fan of Boardwalk Empire.

Nice showing by Peaky Blinders in the poll considering the size of the two audiences. I thought it would be SOA in a runaway.

Agreed, I just finished watching the final season of BE and was looking for another series to catch onto. Craig Ferguson had C. Murphy

on the LLS and was just raving about Peaky Blinders. I decided to check it out and powered thru both seasons in a week. Pretty impressd!

Just really great performances by C. Murphy, Sam Neill, Paul Anderson as the older brother and Tom Hardy and Noah Taylor in the 2nd

season. It's also been announced that their will be a 3rd season.

Sepinwall ranks the first two seasons as great TV and I'd agree. Just quit after that and pretend it is like Deadwood or some other show that was cancelled before its time.

That's the problem. I know I would stick with it and be cursing myself for it.

Blow up your TV after finishing season 2. Then you can't stick with it and you've done yourself a favor.

He's going to watch after season 2 if only to see how that Irishman made it all the way to Ireland with an outboard motor leaving from California.
