Just curious, I was running a few mocks and decide to pick him up if he were to be available in 2nd round.

Last year I drafted him with pick 7 :wall: :wall: Shot myself in the foot.

He had a very solid year, but I expect more... because of 2004. Killed all year with RB/WR depth.

He was the "right" pick for me at 2.07 in a league, so I traded down to 2.12. Ended up taking him there just because. I still don't like it, but I figured it'd be nice to have him in at least one league this year just in case he actually performs up to this spot again.

I'm picking at 2.09 too and will definitely take him if he is there. Our league has 6 pt passing TDs and no PPR so I seriously doubt he will be.

Third round for most positionsMaybe at 2-11 to prevent #1 from having two chances at him
That's funny I was just thinking that about 2-9. To prevent LT, LJ, or SA owners from getting him 2-10 thru 3-3.
Both excellent points that I did not think of. No way a 12-teamer should allow picks 1-3 a chance to get the #1 preseason QB as well. I chose #14 because if I am at the end of the draft having the #1 QB near equates the makeup that I would get with having a lower tiered RB.

Why on earth is 20th the highest spot on this poll?

Peyton was always a 3rd rounder in 12 team leagues based on his ~4200/28 career averages, then came the record year after which he was a 1st rounder. In the following year he came right back to where he's always been, yet suddenly 4200/28 is worth a late 1st/early 2nd round pick whereas two years ago the exact same numbers were worth a mid 3rd?

So where's the option on the poll for people who think his numbers will look just like they have 7 of the last 8 years? Because unless I've been playing in 0 QB leagues for the last decade those numbers don't put him in the top 20 overall.

Drafting 5th in a 12 teamer puts me with pick 20. Given the injury situation and WR questions other high rated QB's face sets Peyton alone as the best QB. While his averages don't look enticing, his situation does. W/O James, I feel he will be passing a lot more than last year-to 2 top WR's as well. Finding a RB2 in rounds 3-4-5 will not be hard, as most in the #20 pick range come with huge ? marks as well. Depth at WR after the first 10 or so is readily available. Not since Warner have I considered taking a QB this high. At least I won't have to consider him in round #1, as others may be inclined to do.

I looked at the vbd for the last three years in my primary league, and crunched the numbers every way I could. I would pick him as early as #8 in that league overall--maybe a good thing I'm drafting at #4 because there's no chance he comes back around to me so I'm looking at the QBBC combos 6 rounds later! :D

I'm struggling with this question because all of the tier 2 QB's have question marks. The great thing about Manning is you know he'll play every week and put up numbers. I have 1.04 which is probably too early to pick him but if he's available a 2.09 I'll take him.

Totally agree. I drafted 5th in a one player keeper league and gladly took him in the first round (17th player with keepers). With RB's what they are this year, Peyton is the most sure thing out there as far as points go. I see last year as the floor for him and there will likely be some (not huge) improvement in his numbers with James out of the picture.
