What to think of Rams D after getting 9 sacks vs. AZ? (1 Viewer)

Rams defense looked DOMINANT last night. Where does this rank them in the league? I think theyve got the potential to be a top 10 defense with Fisher behind them.....

I think they looked better yesterday thanks to a horrible o-line play by the Cards last night, but this group is definitely outplaying all expectations and the scary thing is I think they're getting better every week. I'm gonna give a plug here to Bloom for calling them out on the Rent-A-Defense column this week. Great call there, got a nice chunk of stats.

top 10 already.

finnegan & Jenkins were huge pick ups.

if they get some offense with those picks from rg3 deal, they'll be in the playoffs.

I think they played a team with a terrible Oline and less than starting caliber QB. They have some upside because the Rams offense almost has to play conservative given the below average play of Bradford and that fact that their best offense players are both RBs.

Problem with the Rams D is the Rams offense. They will not be very prolific and likely give opponents short fields going forward with the loss of Amendola.

who would you say is the play here?:

this is like a chase stuart thought experiment

I think the Rams DST is definitely on the rise and a team to take note of in dynasty. They have played well all season. They confused and flustered Matt Stafford week 1, resulting in 3 INTs. Then they brought RG3 back to earth with a performance that was better than stats indicate. Then they shut down Cutler in Chicago despite a loss. Then they stifled Russel Wilson, and followed that with a dominant performance against Arizona. They have exceeded my expectations in just about every game this year.

They have the pieces to be a great defense, a shutdown corner in Finnegan, a playmaker across from him in Jenkins, a solid MLB in Laurinaitis, a defensive minded coach who knows how to succeed in the NFL, and two very good edge pass rushers in Long and Quinn. Not to mention that reports have been highly favorable for their rookie DT Michael Brockers who is just now getting back from an ankle injury.

Their biggest problem is their rush defense, but in my opinion that is the easiest aspect of defense to improve with good coaching, which hopefully Fisher is bringing.
