Our commissioner just sent a email to everyone letting us know what his plans are if the game would get right out cancelled. His plan was actually pretty good. If you are playing any players from that game, and that game only, you are allowed a player on standby for that player in the other game and if it didn't get played then you use the subsititute's players' points. Anyone else got any other ideas'?

With fantasy football being soooooo big now days I wonder what would happen to everyone counting a game that never got played.

Don't know...Benn mulling it over, and actually thought raising this in the offseason, as weather or terrorist attacks could easily cancel a game.Stand by player is OK, but I am in 16 team leagues, so WR4 on most teams could be Nate Washington/Roscoe Parrish in place of Andre Johnson.

Is there seriously a realistic chance of this happening?I don't think the substitute player thing would be very fair considering people drafted guys from those teams assuming they'd be able to play in 16 games. Then again, what else could you really do if they outright cancelled the game?

I can see it being postponed. If the storm causes enough damage

Postpone it til when? They have different bye weeks and they won't have the game later in the week. This could be interesting.

Pretty sure most of free leagues will give 0 for any player that is started if the game is moved to a dofferent week. Likely to be treated like a rainout in baseball even though its a weekly game. I am niot starting any HOU/BAL players though I dont have that many

/shrug

BAD job by the NFL. They had almost a FULL WEEK to prepare for this. This storm has been on a direct path to Houston for several days now and they've done absolutely nothing to prepare for the inevitable. They should have moved the location days ago.

Very good likelihood that this game will not be played on Monday. This is a HUGE storm (size wise) and will leave hundreds of thousands (perhaps even over a million) without power. It won't be a Katrina. There won't be a huge storm surge in Houston and there won't be a lot of lives lost. That doesn't matter. What does matter is this - if 1 million people are without power you are talking about police, emergency and road crews being strapped to the hilt for at least a week or two. With all that going on the playing of a football game and the gathering of 60,000 people in one place is, quite frankly, not high on anyone's priority list (except of course for fantasy football geeks who don't live in the area). I've been saying it all week - I'll be amazed if any games are played in Houston before Tuesday at the earliest.

This is what we're doing. Start them at your own risk. I'm not going to mess with substitute players and whatnot.

Our commish in HA1 and HA3, and me in Fantasy Legends I, II, and III have decided to do the following:

"As most of you probably know, the Baltimore/Houston game has been rescheduled for Monday night. I have seen some speculation that even that may be too soon to play the game depending on the storm damage. Since we do not know how the NFL will handle this possible emergency situation, this is what I have decided.

Submit your lineup as usual. If your starting lineup includes Ravens and/or Texans, then you should email me, or post here, your list of replacment players. Those replacements will only be used if the game is not played this week. Also, replacement players will not be accepted after game time Sunday afternoon. "

I've told my league that if the game gets postponed past Week 2, the players will take zeros, and to take that into consideration when setting lineups. At the same time, I'm probably affected the most, as I have Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub. Andre Johnson sits for no hurricane and will be in my lineup.

I like this. I think I'll use it.

Proving that common sense still exists in the world. :drive:

Yup.... I told the owners in my league the same thing. Start players at your own risk. If the game is rescheduled for any date beyond the kickoff of Week 3, you will be stuck with a goose egg in your Week 2 matchup. I also own Andre Johnson. Figured this was a stand up way to handle the situation. If I pulled out a special "designate a backup" rule... it would look like I was protecting my own butt. That being said, this is the NFL and I believe they will find a way to play this game. And I will have Johnson in my lineup too.

I'm starting Kevin Walter, yet I find the idea of allowing substitute players, etc ridiculous.

I used this, I think it's a good compromise. Still got complaints from the Andre Johnson and Ravens D owners.

Yeah really. I would think the rest of the league would be complaining. At least they are covered.

Well, since the game has officially been ruled out for playing at Reliant Stadium in Houston due to storm damage, what is the general ruling on players from this game?

Do we treat it as a Bye week for these teams or do we make an allowance for this? I am at a loss.

OK. We are entering a territory here. I have never been involved in a game being cancelled so here is what we are going to do if the game is cancelled AND DOESN'T GET MADE UP THIS WEEK. They are doing this in one of my other leagues and it seems like it is the most fair way for everyone involved.

If you are playing a team with a player from Texans/Ravens then that player will get the exact same amount of points that your player got. So if your opponent starts Joe Flacco and you have Peyton Manning both Joe Flacco and Payton Manning will receive the same amount of points. This works easily for QB/K/D.

For the WR/TE/RB/FLEX positions I am going to ask that everyone emails me AND THEIR OPPONENT their lineup. When this is done you must designate who you are starting in each position. Then the corresponding player will receive the score of it's opponent just like for the QB/K/DEF.

So you will email your lineup to your opponent like this:

QB -

RB

WR1

WR2

FLEX

TE

K

Def

Here is where it gets tricky. What happens if people don't email in their lineup? The player NOT EMAILING IN THE LINEUP GETS SCREWED. So if you do not send out your lineup then your opponent will be awarded the point of the HIGHEST SCORING PLAYER in your lineup. Example: You start 2 RB (one of which would be flex) and one is from Texas/Balt you opponant starts 1 RB/3WR. Your opponent's highest scoring WR's score would be awarded to your RB.

All lineups must be in my email and marked NO LATER THAN 11:50 CST.

I will adjust the scoring after the Monday night games.

Email with any questions.

Thanks,

-D

I sent this in my leagues-

Hey guys, while they are planning to have the Texans Ravens game on MNF, just in case there is an issue and it doesn't happen, I'd like each owner who was planning on starting a Texan or Raven post their "emergency/backup" sub on this thread. So if come Monday night the game isn't played, I will have posted here who your substitute will be. You have to post your sub player BEFORE the start of Sunday's early games. And not that anyone in our league would do this, but if your thread posting your sub is edited afterwards in any way (and remember it does show when any thread is edited), that owner automatically gets no player submitted. Thanks!

What will everyone do, If the Houston/Balt. game can't be played on Monday
Canceled game is a canceled game. While replacement players are nice and all for those with the players affected it sure not doing any favors for the other half of the league that has no players affected. If a player gets hurt in pre game warmups/First play of the game and you have him in the starting lineup do you get a replacement player ( considering your league doesn't use them to start with )? Im sure someone will complain. hell i'll prob send mysef an email if i lose because of having no D Ryans aggggggggg

This is the most complicated and least fair method I have seen yet. Congrats.

This is a difficult situation and can not wait for decisions to be made tomorrow or Monday. This is what I sent to my league and posted on our site. Appreciate input to "upgrade" this plan....

With the damage to Reliant Stadium in Houston from Ike and the official postponement of the Baltimore Ravens vs Houston Texans football game, we have a problem. We do not have an official rule to cover such a situation. There are no immediate plans for when or where the game will be played.

I have to make a ruling as this is new territory. I am open to modifications or adjustments depending on what changes the NFL does to reschedule the game. Currently, there is a "rumor" that the Balt-Hou game will be played on Week 10 and the Hou-Cin game will be moved to Week 8 (both of them are scheduled Bye that week). The Cinn Bye week will be rescheduled. This will result in Houston and Baltimore are on Bye this week - week 2.

RULING: Teams are permitted to start any/all Houston and/or Batlimore players/defenses in case they play the game. However, I need a list of Substitutes if they do not play the game this weekend. If I do not receive or if there is no message posted of substitutes, they will receive a 0 (zero) for the score. Limit 1 Substitute for each Hou/Balt player starting - multiple listing will result in a 0 (zero) applied to all Hou/Balt Substitutes. You can post it in your message with your line-up or send a separate message to me and your opponent or the entire league or post on the thread on the site .

I believe the rumor above will be a likely scenario and Houston & Baltimore will be on Bye this week.

Please understand this is a new situation and a decision must be made to accommodate. Anybody else who wants this job, I am accepting applications....

If the game is played at a later date: i.e. week 7. Would there be any way to go back and plug those scores into week 2?

So if I start Joe Flacco and he doesn't play, I will receive the same amount of points as my opponents QB (Peyton Manning, which by the way, he spent a 2nd round pick on). That sounds fair, because Flacco would probably put up as many points as Manning anyway, right? :)

Here is what I found....take it for what it is worth09/13 Texans: Ravens/Texans could play in New Orleans

The News

Profootballtalk.com is reporting that the Ravens/Texans game could be moved to Monday night at the Superdome in New Orleans. The game was originally scheduled to be Sunday afternoon and was then moved to Monday night, but Hurricane Ike caused too much damage to the Texans' Reliant Stadium.

Our View

If Reliant is unable to host the Texans' games for multiple weeks, they could play their games at Rice Stadium on the campus of Rice University.

If they play in NO, boy just think of all the non football things there are for the commentators to comment about. The irony.

We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 1 PK, 1 Def/ST and have a roster of 18 spots. In our league, it is not a problem. We have 3 teams with a maximum of 2 and the rest with 1 or none. Good question, but not a problem in our league.

I never did get a answer from another thread on this so asking again.

Is there a reason Hou can't fly to Balt and play there and be called the home team on a Monday nite?

Balt was going to fly to Hou Sunday to play Monday which is out of the question now.

So if I spent my first round pick on Tom Brady, who everyone knows is out for the year, I can pick up Sage Rosenfels or one of Baltimore's backups for the game and still match whatever Peyton Manning gets since I'd be playing him this week. SWEET! :)Completely hypothetical, but you see why this is a bad idea, I hope.

What do you do in leagues where a guy has to many players from a team and no room for substitues without having to drop players?
I have Balt Def and O. Daniels. I had to drop two players to pick up replacements. I guess it's kind of like a bye week because they wont have one later in the year now. The only thing is that I already made pickups and dropped two of my players to do so but now the game may still be played. It is just a weird situation. We will see what happens.

On another note, what about the subscribers contest? Players were picked based on bye weeks to a certain extent. I guess it wouldn't matter to much because noone else has a bye this week. The only way it could hurt you is if you have multiple players from Hou and BAL. And if thats the case you were already hurting.

It's not going to. They have to play Sunday or Monday. I think San Antonio in the Alamo Dome would be the best option. I dont see why everyone is freaking out about it. HOU and BAL don't have the same bye week. So they can't move it there. They can't move it later in the week because of not enough time before Sunday and even if they did, it wouldnt affect fantasy players because their points could just be added in. And it can't be pushed to the end of the year because of playoffs. So why everyone is on here posting 1,000 times over something that seems a non issue is strange to me. Go watch college football and let the meeting take place!

At this point, anyone who starts Bal/Hou players should understand the risk involved. If I'm commish, I say, "You submit your lineup, you take your chances."

Told everyone to submit a 'backup' player(s). MFL allows the option.

(1) It gets cancelled and essentially becomes the bye week of both

(2) It's played & everything's normal

In addition to using replacment players, I also posted this.

If it is announced sometime tonight that the game is cancelled this week, go ahead and change your own lineup to whoever you want. If it isn't announced that the game is cancelled, and you have Hou / Bal players in your lineup after the first game starts, I will insert your replacement player when I get home from the game. Please do not edit your post saying who your replacement player is after the start of the first game. If you do, and you have a Hou / Bal player in your lineup when the games start, you won't be allowed to use the replacement player. This is to insure the timestamp of the post is before the first game starts

But there's no drama in that scenario. I like drama.

LMAO no drama..I do it for two reasons..builds up my posting count and helps me with my grammer, typing, spelling.

If you are playing a team with a player from Texans/Ravens then that player will get the exact same amount of points that your player got. So if your opponent starts Joe Flacco and you have Peyton Manning both Joe Flacco and Payton Manning will receive the same amount of points. This works easily for QB/K/D.
So if I spent my first round pick on Tom Brady, who everyone knows is out for the year, I can pick up Sage Rosenfels or one of Baltimore's backups for the game and still match whatever Peyton Manning gets since I'd be playing him this week. SWEET! :shrug:Completely hypothetical, but you see why this is a bad idea, I hope.
I want Slax as my tax accountant.

Unfortunately there are a large number of people without power where the hurricane is going through, and those living there who are in fantasy leagues will be unable to submit lineups or see e-mails or board posts. I suppose most or all leagues already have an "if you don't submit your lineup" rule, but some of the rule changes for this particular game may not even been seen by people without electricity.

Thats why most leagues have the rule..no lineup for week 2 falls back to week 1 lineup...at least they get something and keep their team and league going.
