What would you eat if you couldn't chew for a month? (1 Viewer)

My 23 year old brother  (who probably consumes 4000 calories a day) had this happen last summer (jaw surgery). It was strictly smoothies and milkshakes for the first week. After that, he started blending other foods with varying degrees of success.

Blended chicken parm with spaghetti was an interesting experience

This happened to me when I was 13.  Broken jaw wired shut for 3 weeks.  It was a lot of Carnation Instant Breakfasts and soup.

Best weight loss plan ever is to break your jaw

Wow, that's quite a meat spin!

Meat Spin was the name of my one-man show on domestic abuse. One critic said "If you're going to see one small-venue, rural Vermont theater piece this year, I'm not going to stop you".

Had jaw surgery about 5 years ago... Worst experience ever..  I'd go through 10 more rotor cuff surgeries instead of going through the jaw surgery again..

My upper jaw was too narrow and they did what's called a 3-piece LeFort I surgery.  Worst experience and recovery of my life..  I was 185 when I went in for surgery, got down to 155 a few weeks after.  I had to be rehospitalized due to severe dehydration.. had my nose packed because it wouldn't stop bleeding...  had to TRY to sleep sitting up in a chair.

I couldn't chew anything for 6-weeks, but for the first two weeks, I didn't even want to eat..

I've had three rounds of gum grafting done so diet for first week usually consists of Carnation breakfast drink, cream of wheat, yogurt, soup, and fried eggs.

Blended chicken parmesan and spaghetti wouldnt work if your jaw is wired shut.  You can only eat something that is totally liquid unless you have huge gaps in your teeth.  Even applesauce is tough.

went through a similar situation with multiple liquid only diets over the past 18 months.

* soups (not sure if mushy foods like noodles or even better, matzo balls work for you)

* Jello and Pudding

* smoothies

* ensure is a good tasting dietary supplement drink as it will be difficult for you to get enough fiver as protein without

* mashed potatoes and gravy
