No. I remember in middle school, I thought it looked cool to bite your nails so I tried to force myself to do it... thankfully the habit never stuck.

No. I used to for years, probably into my thirties - not nervous biting, but it was basically how I would trim them. Then one of my two front teeth got a small chip and the dentist said it was from biting my nails. That was it for me.

Yes, though I do it very discreetly (like when I’m watching football alone) and only when they’re long. I hate using actual nail clippers. I know it’s a bad habit.

This would be me also. Don't smoke, rarely drink. Just to keep them from getting long

Almost never. Only if I have a hangnail and no clippers available.

I've got a lot of bad habits but thankfully, this isn't one of them.

Used to, now only if I have a hangnail and don’t want to take the time to get clippers.

I used to bite my toe nails too. Not out of habit or in public. That would be weird.

I have a strange addiction to nail clippers. I have a set in my car, in all of my briefcases and backpacks, several at my office and spread in different rooms throughout my house. My nails aren't manicured or particularly stylish - not by a long shot - but it terribly annoys me if I feel a rough edge or even a corner of a fingernail that is a bit too long. But I'll never bite one off. In the rare circumstance I find myself without a clipper within arm's reach, I'll just suffer silently until I can get to a safe place. Yesterday I was in a meeting for 4 hours and they guy across me was meticulously styled, but had one nail that was quite a bit longer than the others. Once I noticed, I was focused on that nail for most of the meeting.

My nails are kind of freakish. When they get even a bit long, I accidentally gouge out chunks of steering wheel, my own skin, etc. They're very difficult to bite through, so for that reason if none other I never picked up the habit.

When I was a kid, sometimes I would file down a rough nail edge like this on a brick, a concrete "school bench" or other handy rough surface.

Always have, and probably always will. I pick my cuticles too. My nails are a direct indicator of my stress - probably better than anything. If they are growing and not bitten, I'm usually on vacation.

Never bite my nails but used to always pick them to trim them. Every so often this would cause them to tear and bleed. Now I use clippers. Much better but every once in awhile if a nail is long and bugging me I will pick at it and usually tear it off to bleed. I hate when I do that.

So, a Covid success story - I bit my nails for 46 years until Covid and I decided it was time to stop the habit. I’ve used clippers for 3 years now. It helped that my biting was strictly convenience to trim them and never a nervous habit - I essentially used my teeth as clippers.

Don't think I've seen that in a couple decades.

My first thought was that I don't and to feel sympathy for people who do because they probably have a lot of stress.

But then I read the thread and am now changing my perspective to some people are just disgusting and gross. Ew. Freaks.

I used to bite all of my fingernails and they didn't look good so I consciously made the effort to stop. It was really my only accomplishment during my university days (quit uni and went to college instead) but for some reason I stick pick at my two pinky fingers and can't stop that.

Honestly the nail in question is something no one else would ever notice. It was "quite a bit longer" only in my weird obsessive world.

Haven't used nail clippers on my fingernails in probably 30 years. Bite them but don't gnaw them down. They look very well manicured in fact
This is me. I don’t think I have used fingernail clippers in decades for fingernails. Nails look normal and I was used as a hand model in a couple commercials at work 😂

I may try this as it's the same for me. I just prefer biting to clippers.

Belleville should win it all again.

I was at the game and told some CC parents I know, "At least you don`t have far to drive home" The all live in Plymouth, Northville and Novi.

I don't bite them. But I do have a terrible habit at picking at them and keeping them short. I hate it, but I can't stop.
