I don't know what is, but I carry it in my shirt pocket but never use it while moving, or on red lights.

always in the mini van. We have one in my RAV4 too but it’s a tight fit (iPhone 13 max with one of those card sleeves on back) so I only use it for long trips there. Otherwise it sits in the front cupholder.

Voted yes.

Not since I had a car with a touchscreen and Apple CarPlay. Now it just sits in the passenger seat plugged in most of the time, cup holder if I have a passenger.

Before that though, I spent way too many hours and dollars on just the right caddy.

Not a caddy—I have a little plastic piece that clips onto my AC vent that has a magnet on the front of it. The mate to that magnet is between my phone and its case—and I just stick it on the clip.

Not sure how to vote. I use one occasionally, just when I need to see the phone for navigation...which is rare because I really only use my car around town. Any longer trips we use my wife's car which has Android auto so no need to put the phone in a caddy.

Would you consider your use "regular"? Doesn't sound like it to me. Vote no.

Never did. The last 2 cars I shopped for included deal-breakers that I be able to place my phone above the steering wheel (obscuring my spedometer and using Waze instead). Now I have carplay so that is no longer an issue. Wala!

No. Stays in my pocket, unless it's charging in the cubby in front of the cupholders.

Pretty much this. If I need it for maps, I'll just have it direct me orally. Otherwise, I try to leave to phone alone when I drive.
FWIW... oral while you drive is very distracting.
Honestly, this needs to be your next poll.
My answer would be yes, have received many times.

Who's going to answer "no, it's not distracting?"

I think you mean pole.
Almost went there.

Had one, used it, got broken by a kid of mine somehow. So haven't used one in a year or so. But put a good one on my Christmas wishlist as I was looking for things around $25 that folks could get ol pops. So I imagine I'll have one here in about a month and will use it again. Even though I connect to my car's Apple Play... I guess it's kinda unnecessary.

Magnetic mount, but I have it for a different reason I haven't seen mentioned yet. My daily driver is a company owned vehicle, and there's an app on my phone that tracks driving habits (hard braking, acceleration, phone manipulations, speed, etc.). Manually moving the phone counts as a manipulation, so if it's sliding around on the passenger seat or falls out of the cupholder, etc it'll trigger a manipulation which is a hit on my driving record/score. So I use the magnet mount so the phone stays "still" and I don't get dinged.

If I'm using GPS, I plug it into Carplay and use the nav screen map since it's bigger. I don't touch the phone or use it for anything while it's in the mount, the mount just keeps it still.

But God forbid I do polls about sex, bathroom habits or hygiene.... those seem to trigger the FFA

Can't believe I missed this one.

Apple Play cars: no. Older cars: yes. I have a little vent-clipped magnet holder in my travel bag in case I end up with a car without Apple Play.

Yes. I use waze almost everywhere I go. I am baffled by the results here.
Having been a commuter cyclist, I know how terrible distracted driving can be. When I bring my phone driving, I generally keep it out of reach, to foil the temptation to check.

But my watch gives me notifications as well. Assistive touch has made these less disruptive, as I can tap my fingers to dismiss them, without paying any attention to the content . I guess I could just use the focus function.

If I need directions, I also enjoy oral.

My wife does cuz she refuses to use her Android Auto on her infotainment system so she just pulls up Google maps on her phone and props in on the phone mount.

Voted no. I only use my phone if I need GPS, which is rare since I rarely drive outside my usual bubble. 99% of the time it's in my pocket and the other 1% I plug into the screen on my center console.

It's on the wireless charging pad in the cubby which is right up there with remote starter for things that give me joy every time I use them.
