What's the latest on NE sitting/resting their players today (1 Viewer)

BB does the same thing every year. The healthy starters usually play the first half and maybe a drive or two in the second half. He does not believe in sitting people.

After what happened to Welker in week 17 last year I would be shocked to see him have much playing time today even with BB's track record.

they'll play to win the game, whether it's to the final minute in a close one, or maybe 3 quarters if they get up 35-3 at the half --- in which case your fantasy players probably already got fat.

Welker INACTIVE...shocking...
 ... I actually am shocked. Not BBs style, but as a Pats fan I am thrilled.
How is this shocking?? BB is a Hall of Fame coach because he learns from his mistakes. The only game he cares about is in Dallas.
Brady says this week "we don't take weeks off", so now it's funny how every NE fan plays the whole "BB never sits players even when they clinch" card...OF COURSE he's gonna sit players now because of Welker last year, you learn from your mistakes and that was a hard lesson learned last year. I would think Bill B. wouldn't be dumb enough to do it again...lol.

Starting Welker last year wasn't a mistake. If you think that was a mistakes, and you think he has learned from his mistake, then why did Brady play into the 3rd quarter?
I would have rather he played.if you're thrilled he's sitting then you must want everybody to sit.
No. I have some irrational fear of Welker getting injured again, which is why I was glad to see him sit. On top of that, it had given Edelman and Price a chance to get in the game, which I think is very important, for Edelman mostly, because of how inconsistent he has been this year.

I am not BB so I don't have his football IQ. If I had to guess, Brady played because, A) the O-line would limit the hits, B) Brady was told to ditch the ball if he was in danger, C) Bellicheat wanted to make sure that the O got some reps before the bye week.

Would you have liked it better if I had typed "The Vikings are going for it. It is Favre and inches." (I assume that you saw the pics)

Nope. I like breasts. But in all seriousness, with Branch and Welker sitting today, it was great to see Price, Edelman, and a little more of Tate than usual.

Price had, IIRC, 3 targets for two catches on first downs (slant and a comeback/curl routes) for 10+ yds. The ball on the curl route was thrown quite high, and Price showed off his great leaping ability, as well as completing the high catch while being tackled in the air near his legs and falling pretty hard to the ground. On the slant, Price looked explosive, nearly managing to break a tackle, which would have ended up in a 70-80 yard touchdown.

Edelman had quite a game, showing off his ability to break tackles all game long. Really looked like he did last year when he played a lot more. This was really good for the Pats, as he had been very inconsistent all year long, dropping very catch-able balls on important plays, and his impressive outing must have given him a confidence boost (probably much needed too).

Tate showed off his incredible speed, which we have seen most of the year with him as a KR , catching a 5-7 yarder, breaking several immediate tackles, and turning upfield for a huge gain. Later in the game, Hoyer threw a bomb, which Tate had to speed up for and make an impressive diving catch in the endzone. This type of concentration during catches was lacking for most of the year, so again this must have been good confidence booster.

Overall, I think the Pats showed they have greater depth at WR than what many Pats fans may have thought (more than I did, that's for sure!).

I think the Pats are a great team. Their Achilles heel is going to be the D. A team like B-more will have great chance at knocking off the Patriots. It will take a great effort to defeat them at home, but I do think that Bellichek has work cut out for him.

:bag: I think the amount of young players with limited to no playoff experience, or no significant past postseason playing time experience, is the biggest downside of the Pats D going into the postseason.
