AI - Directed by Spielberg and had that kid from Sixth Sense. High hopes going into the theater - it was 3 hours of boredom.
Spirited Away, Inception, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Avatar fall into the category of most overrated.
Are any of those remotely close to the "worst" movie you've ever seen?
A.I. is for me.
Then you haven't seen very many movies then.
My post count in the Recently viewed movies & Netflix threads suggest otherwise.I am sure part of my contempt for the film was related to expectations and it was, on some levels, visually interesting (sadly Spielberg took visuals to the point latter day Lucas levels of distraction) but it was such poorly constructed and executed storytelling, of what could have been a fascinating concept, with one of the absolutely worst endings I have ever seen (no hyperbole). Honestly if they had just left him at the bottom of the ocean I probably wouldn't even consider it for worst ever (just terribly disappointing) but that saccharine and desperate attempt to put lipstick on that pig was pathetic.
As a point of comparison with films that have explored similar themes:
Short Circuit >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A.I. (again, no hyperbole)
