What's up with all of the "Pinned" threads? (1 Viewer)

Not a complaint per-se, but over the past several days, I've just been continually reminded that I have to scroll vertically before I can see any of the active threads in the Shark Pool. Kind of annoying, especially when a few of the pinned threads are probably not worth a pin and/or are completely unnecessary now (like the two-month old "I'm sick of this" scolding about all the New England Patriots stuff that was circulating for a while?).

Is there ANY way to get rid of at least some of those pinned threads so that we can actually see the most-recent topics being discussed above the fold? I suppose I could figure out a way to simply hide/remove the pinned threads for myself...but if it annoys me it probably annoys other people too, so I thought I would quickly say something about it.

It kind of is when you do it 30-40+ times per day, 6+ days per week, for absolutely no good reason at all... Scrolling isn't bad on a board, per se. It's just a waste of time/energy when you don't HAVE to do it. One of the first things they teach you in Web Design 101: avoid vertical scrolling on a page when you can...and avoid horizontal scrolling like your life depended upon it! I'm all-about incremental improvements. If we can make all the "little things" about a site like this better over time, all those little things will add up to noticeable/appreciable improvement. You might not even know what is different, except that the site is now just "better" than before. Also see: some of the other stuff Keith will be implementing on the site in the weeks and months to come!

Two threads you could clean up and consolidate would be the schedule and bye week threads. Just make new thread with schedule and bye weeks in main body. As you can see only 400 some people have looked at the bye weeks thread. Not a major pinned thread if you ask me, but it is relevant information that would be nice to include on the schedule.
