What's wrong with Gates? (1 Viewer)

I'm winning despite him but he's too good for it to be a coincidence. Is he hurt? Held in to block?

Maybe Norv doesn't have LT or Gates on his fantasy team, so with his job essentially gone, he's looking to win a FF title to help the retirement fund.

Other than that...

SD is basically impossible to predict FF wise. Rivers is decent, but week to week you never know if the (now limited) points will go to VJax, Sproles, Floyd, etc.

KC @ home looks decent enough though.

last week, the Chargers didnt throw much, and V-Jax got the majority of the looks. Few weeks before that, it seems like Malcom Floyd has gotten more and more looks which has taken away targets from Gates.

he was open all game versus the raiders but rivers could throw downfield at will so why settle for a 10yarder to gates. the offense is no longer centered around LT/Gates and Gates never fully healed nor will he from past injuries especially the toe injury. the Gates/LT of old are gone. still respectable but no longer fantasy superstars. if gates isn't elite as a pass catching TE the chargers won't put up with his soft blocking, he could or possibley could be losing snaps to a blocking TE

I got knocked out of the playoffs last week no thanks to Gates and his goose egg. I am in contention for the points total and there is some decent money on the line where I could at least win back my entry fee. I picked up Carlson off the wire this morning and I am playing him instead of Gates. I think VJax is getting the looks because he is as tall as gates but faster.

Can you clarify how you know he will never fully heal from the toe injury? Is this common knowledge that he'll never be 100% again for the rest of his career? I'm curious if this is the general consensus.

I remember watching Gates two weeks ago during the final plays of the game and SD was was trying to punch it in. One of the commentators noted that Gates looked injured and wasn't able to run his plays. It was the only thing I heard about him looking injured (other then his previous lingering injury maybe) so I wonder if there is more to this then we are hearing. Then the next game he plays but gets 0 catches. Sorry I can't give better details but the comments stuck with me.
