What's Your Biggest Mistake This Year? (1 Viewer)

FTR I ignored Draft Dominator telling me to draft Freeman in the 9th.

And the 10th.

And the 11th.

And the 12th.

And the 13th.

The first place team took him in the 14th. Playing him this week.

The single biggest mistake anyone could have made this year was not getting Freeman on their roster, but how could anyone have known he would blow up like this? I thought he was just a one or two week RB2 fill in while Coleman was out and not the fantasy beast he has become.

No one could have predicted this.

Honestly all I wanted when I drafted him was a servicable back that might get me 10-15 points a game and keep me in it each week. Platoon of Gore, Ivory, Jennnings, and Freeman were the plan. Now it looks like Freeman and Ivory will be starting for the foreseeable future.

Believing the 70 million dollar Demaryuis Thomas was the #1 receiver in denver, and buying into Emmanuel Sanders own words of saying his production is going to dip this year. ####### Emmanuel Sanders.

On a positive note avoided the CJ / Hill Landmines saw that coming from a mile away, grabbed Gronk in the 2nd in everything and Brady late in everything

I always pick my D in the next to last round. But in one league this year, there was no one I really wanted in the previous round, so I figured I should grab a good defense a spot early. All of the big names (Seattle, St. Louis, Buffalo) were gone, but there were still a couple available that I was targeting, including Miami and ... Denver. Guess which of the two I picked?

Worst part is that I *knew* Denver's D was going to be good this year -- Phillips always makes a big impact when he comes in as a new DC. I think my logic at the time was that the Dolphins had a better Week 1 match-up. Only good news is someone ended up dropping the Jets a few weeks in and I grabbed them off waivers.

Drinking the Spiller Kool Aid.....thinking that he would easily replicate the Darren Sproles role in NO. Drafted him in all 3 of my leagues....already cut him in one league.

Wow, how could I have been so wrong?
I got aced out on Spiller in multiple leagues and was pissed about it at the time.

Not getting devonta freeman
No one saw this coming.....no one.

His pace is ridiculous right now.....a reversion to the mean is soon coming though. Obviously he is a RB1 this season thus far and is putting up insane numbers......but a reversion is forth coming. I would never pound my head about not drafting a guy that was clearly 2nd on the depth chart and if not for an injury would still be IMO. Your talking about a guy that was a clear back up to start the season. It's not like he was showing this at any time. Nor did anyone go around pounding the table to take Devonte Freeman as a deep sleeper.

He has taken advantage of an amazing situation so far. No self proclaimed shark genius saw it coming and being lucky in FF is a huge part of winning it sometimes.

Bravo to those that have him. Huge HR hit this year.

After week 1 I put Matt Ryan on the block and n a dynasty league that I am rebuilding. I was offered Freeman and Coleman for Ryan. Being a start 1 back league and not believing in the Falcons running game I countered with Ryan for Lockett and a 2nd, which was accepted.

I guess skipping Gurley as RB2 in all drafts, I think a lot of people whiffed there.

I had no faith in the Rams' playcalling and relying on one back, I figured Mason would figure in somehow, still. And I never saw Gurley's recovery being so amazing, nor him just being this damn good.

I took Alfred Morris early in one league. Fortunately for me, in the keeper league where I drafted him I picked up Gurley a few spots later and took Peterson early, plus had Latavius Murray as a keeper, so Morris hasn't hurt me.

Agreed no-one could have predicted this but watching Coleman's tape...he doesn't have vision or patience + Dan Quinn and I'd say you could have always counted on at minimum 40% of the carries.

-Taking Dez over Julio

-Drafting Murray and McCoy 2nd &3rd rd

-dropping Gurley for CMIKE (but I did end up dropping him for D.Lewis)

- Not picking up Freeman off the wire

Picked up Dion Lewis prior to week 1 in one dynasty league, but left him on waivers for Bolden in the other. Oops.

I also drafted Dez over Julio because I wanted to hedge and had Julio in all other leagues... I said right then I should have taken Julio anyways.

All in on Charles, Lacy, Anderson, Miller, A. Johnson, A. Jeffery, M. Evans, D Walker, Coleman. Hopeless season for me. Not even worth setting some of my lineups.
Hate A-holes,that don't set line-ups! It ruins many leagues. Why even play this game if you can't play if you suck at it?.I'm 0-5 in 1 league, where I seem to get the highest scoring team each week playing against me.But I still do roster moves, and set my line-up. Glad your not in my big $$$ league(We would have booted an owner like you from our league.)

I dropped Freeman in both of my leagues after week 2. :bag:

I feel your pain---same thing X3 teams but I at least I held onto Freeman for one team. I base this on stupidity on my part as I was completely high on Freeman to draft him in so many leagues. I am new at FFB so this is a major learning lesson.

Traded Amari Cooper for Dez Bryant right after Dez got hurt. I guess that can pay off later, but I overreacted to Amari's poor showing in week 1.

I drafted Tevin Coleman in 2 of my money leagues and felt like I had a sleeper. When he went down with the rib injury I never considered picking up Freeman. Some guy at the tail end of our waiver order picked him up. He's now in first place and I've since dropped my sleeper.

I actually have people complaining because I AM managing my 0-5 team - making roster moves, trades, whatever I can do to try to sneak into the playoffs. They are mad because being 0-5 I always get 1st waiver priority, so have been snatching players like Rawls, West, etc. Still 0-5 but miracles can happen and the hater scan suck it.

I like your attitude. Im 1-4 right now in the only league where I have to listen to trash talk. I expect to finish 12-4 when all is said and done.

Started 2-4 last year, didn't lose another until the championship game....keep your head up

Biggest mistake was going all in on Jonathan Stewart. Never have in the past but felt this year something would just connect with the Panthers having a capable defense in a terrible division with questionable receiving threats outside of Olsen and no DeAngelo to hog touches. Wound up with him in all of my leagues. Have already dropped him in my 10-team league. Traded him away in another. And he's pretty much a permanent bench fixture in my other two. Don't even want to start him in favorable matchups now.

I also drank the Tannehill Kool-Aid in the pre-season and whiffed on Tight End in every league except the one I snagged Gronk. Working committees with those positions and taking chances on guys with early byes literally killed my ability to take flyers on RBs and WRs that wound up exploding or preserving handcuffs on guys who wound up falling to injury (like the two leagues I had Charles) due to limited bench space. Committed some cardinal fantasy sins that I will make a point of learning from during my draft prep next summer.

4-1 whilst ....

Taking Anderson back of the 1st

Giving up on Martin after week 3 ( I blame this on owning him in previous years as well )

Picking up then dropping C Mike then thinking nobody would take him this week and they did.

I like it and you never know, I started 0 - 3 last year and in week 3 hit rock bottom and scored like 89 points and got blown out, I looked at my team and said this is too good not to make the playoffs. I traded for Charles and went on to win 13 in a row to take the title. Go get'em!

I don't think a revision to the mean is coming, well not this year. I think he having a DeAngelo Williams type year, when he burst on the scene in 2008. In dynasty I would consider selling high in the offseason, because I think this could easily be his best year ever, just because all the stars aligned. New coach, starting back gets hurt, good quarterback and dominant receiver that keep teams honest, another team in the division that is keeping pace, and a soft schedule. I would be shocked if he doesn't get 20 touchdowns this year and well over 2k total yards.

Worse are the owners who absolutely will not respond to any trade offer (this seems to be about 80% of all owners in any ESPN league, btw).

But worst of all? The owner who signs up for a live draft, but then magically disappears into thin air between sign-up and drafting so that everyone else sits around waiting the full length of time when it's his turn to pick. Now THAT kind of owner is the scum of the earth.

Going with Alshon Jeffery over Deandre Hppkins due to the QB situation in HOU appearing worse than CHI.

Waiting on QB and grabbing Stafford and the waiting on a backup and taking Bridgewater.

Lastly not taking a shot on a batter RB2. Now I'm stuck with Jennings, Woodhead and Crowell.

Picked up James Jones after the draft but dropped him after thinking I was too early to have given up on DeVante Parker. Thankfully I lucked into Allen Hurns when Parker started slow.
