Minced garlic, Frank's Red Hot, Lime juice...wash it down with some Moretti Beer
Not to bash Frank's Red Hot but I thought the palettes of the FBG's ran more interesting than this. This is what bad bars around my area use as their hot wing sauce and for those lover's of the Hot Frank's rates about as hot as Ketchup. Try Sarachi(Garlic Thai Hot Sauce)for a switch.

I saw this and what a surprise: "A Wheelhouse thread! Haven't seen one of those in awhile!!" :)

I see it's simply a resurrection. Poor one too--no "all the above" options.

Just so happens I had shrimp last night--set me up a lowcountry boil. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm :banned:

With my mouth. Sauteed in olive oil with a little garlic on angel hair with some parm. Fast, simple, delicious. I hate peel and eat, though put some Old Bay on them and it's not the end of the world.

Simple peel and eat shrimp, hot, with plenty of Old Bay and beer. Shrimp tempura kicks butt too.

Gumbo would be high on my list, but the gumbo is about the roux, not the shrimp.
I love shrimp, but this is my favorite (Old Bay is key)...also like Shrimp Tempura a lot and a good shrimp salad sandy. Like a beer-battered shrimp and also a good grilled shrimp.

Ate at this place in New Orleans (Mr. B's).

Ordered the BBQ shrimp expecting something off a kabob. Instead, I got what's featured in the lower right corner which was basically a bowl of soup with a bunch of messy handiwork required to get to the edible part.

Tasted good, but the experience wasn't for me. We ate at the bar and I had to have the bartender tutor me on what to do when my plate arrived.

Not a big fan of shrimp but the best way is grilled perfectly where it pops when you bite into it. Lime, cilantro, tequila marinade.

Other way would be in a burrito.

Wheelhouse are you from the South or just a transplant? No FRIED option in this poll is an out cry. Your poll is more flawed than the BCS.

SHUCK'S AWARD-WINNING STUFFED SHRIMP: Plump shrimp wrapped in bacon, stuffed with Carolina deviled crab, served with red rice & vegetable of the day

Used to be a restaurant in San Luis Obispo that server shrimp enchiladas.

FAT shrimp, smothered in melted cheddar, wrapped in corn tortillas, and covered in red chile sauce.

Shrimp Brochette. Shrimp, wrapped in Bacon, stuffed with Cheese and Jalapeno. Served on a bed of dirty rice. Dip in melted butter.

Awesome.

There's a place in Caye Caulker, Belize called "Wish Willies" that makes the most incredible grilled shrimp. They're skewered, basted in some sweet sauce, and grilled to perfection. My kids are picky eaters and they ate them like candy. Willy is a cool dude too. For $10, he will give you 2 ice cold Belikins and a spleef as fat as your thumb. :banned:

Grilled Shrimp Tacos

Po Boy or Shrimp Creole at Bro's Cajun (used to be Breaux's but they changed the name...was on Guy's show...think smoked stuffed pork chop they did on that episode) in Nashville is darn tasty.

And its always hard to beat a good shrimp wrapped in bacon.

Yummy!

First time I had it was on a business trip to Costa Rica. I didn't speak too much Spanish and one of the guys I was with had been living there for our organization on and off for a couple years, and the third, a consultant, was a native speaker. We sat down at the table and the waiter recognized our guy and walked over with a pair of beers, and asked us what we wanted to drink. Nice place! They started to order and I was lost. The ceviche came and they said try it, don't ask what it is just try it we'll tell you later. I said OK what the hell, and it was spectacular. Then they said I was eating uncooked shrimp. After getting a laugh at my reaction - Having grown up near the ocean and eating raw shellfish (clams, oysters) it was no big deal, but I always thought shrimp wasn't something you didn't eat raw! They explained how it was made (cooked using the acids in lemon and lime juices) and I continued to eat it, been a huge fan ever since!

yes, i am a huge fan of ceviche.

It is? Honest question, but isn't roux just butter and flour used to thicken the gumbo?Maybe I'm being food ig'nant here and just don't know the word as you are using it.
Usually, yes. But the darker the roux, the less thickening properties it has. When making roux for gumbo, you want it real dark, like an old penny. It gives the gumbo depth, richness and flavor but doesnt thicken it much. Gumbo isnt supposed to be thick.

I did "peel and eat" but it really depends on how they are cooked initially.  Steamed, in :obc: is the only way to go IMO.  Second would be grilled, third would be deep fried.

For me it's coconut shrimp, but the shrimp sandwich at The Cheesecake factory is delicious.
Their version of a Po'-Boy. Yeah it is a a damn good sandwich. And agree on the coconut shrimp.

Outback has that #### down like a science. And that sauce.....mmmmmmmm.

Garlic shrimp at a good Portuguese joint is way up on the list. With the rice and those crispy potatoes.

What lake can you get large shrimp from?
Lake Pontchartrain. But the shrimp doesn't have to be from there, it could be Gulf shrimp, just pick a waterfront on the coast. The point is get it fresh. Are you anywhere near the coast? Take an afternoon to go down and pick up 5 lbs, ask them to boil it on site, bring it back home, add beer, and invite friends/family over.
