When did ESPN change the add/drop rules? (1 Viewer)

iamkoza gets it at least.  The people I respect most in 20 years of FF, both local league mates and national "experts", see it the way I do so I'm gonna go ahead and move on in my life now.  The socialists won on the espn platform and changed rules to protect the weaker owners from themselves and that's ok.
What iamkoza did isn't waiver wire churning.  Just picking up and dumping people just to make the ineligible is a jackass move.  It has nothing to do with someone being a "weaker" owner.

But if being labeled a "socialist" just because of them changing the rules to ban churning, then I will take that label.

Um, it absolutley improves my team's likelihood of WINNING and adding to my future chance of making the playoffs and WINNING money.
I said nothing about winning just improving your team.  There are a lot of things in life that are “within the rules” that are **** moves.  No ones arguing that you are violating rules, just being a ####.

I don't know if it's socialist vs capitalist, weak vs strong... but, I do believe in using the rules of the league to maximize your benefit. If the rules allow you to churn the waiver wire, so be it. Have a vote, and change it. Although, I haven't seen a league that allows for that in probably 15 years.

This is an even bigger d-bag move, and one that I used until we no longer used the site... but I was able to manipulate the URL of a league I played in back in 2001-2002 where I was able to see everyone's transactions including trade proposals to other teams and waiver wire bids. It allowed me to know which players other teams were willing to move and for what, and how the waiver bids were ordered so I could make the best decisions every week. I didn't feel great about it, but i found an edge and used it.

Brilliant work there.  Thanks for your support.  I completely agree that it shouldn’t be allowed but if it is I’m gonna do it because it’s best for my team.  Another controversial topic:  If the rules motivate you to tank you should tank.  The rules should be changed if people don’t want tanking.

I don't get it.  Unless you mean I'm a fool for listening to a ff podcast of people who the world leader in sports have hired and pay to research this stuff full time.  What about the fantasyfootballers podcast?  You know, the guys who have won multiple fantasy football and sports podcast awards and all 3 of whom are in the top 20 rankers on fantasypros?  Do their opinions count as much as you guys on this board that has plummeted in users and traffic over the last few years?  Haha, it's funny that the majority on here think I'm a d-bag for doing something that the above mentioned experts have no problem with....am i the fool or is it the guys who are playing a game for money who don't want to use all strategies WITHIN THE RULES to win said money?  I understand that it is no longer within the rules and that's great.  This has been a fun debate.
I know you're trolling, so I'm not arguing. You summed it up exactly in your initial sentence.

The best response in this entire thread was the first one!

Another interesting topic... back in 2009 (and this still bugs me) I played in a league that used play-off brackets. So, once the bracket was set at the start of the play-offs, the matchups didn't change according to which team won.

Anyway, it was a Sunday night game and I had the Eagles defense yet to play. I had already wrapped up the win, but my place in the standings was determined by points (tie-breaker). I needed a couple more points from the Eagles defense to move up in the standings, which in turn would have put me in a different play-off bracket. I evaluated each bracket, and decided that one would be an easier path to the championship. I chose to not play the Eagles defense, determined my own fate, and got knocked out in the second round. Had I played the Eagles defense, I would have won the championship, easily. I tanked, and it cost me. Now, I try to score as many points as possible every week.

I once had a commissioner you'd have liked.  With 5 weeks left in the season, we were tied for first. I looked ahead in the schedule and saw that 2 of my last 3 games were against the two worst teams in the league. Two weeks later, the three games left on my schedule were against the 3, 4 and 5 teams and the commissioner was scheduled to play the three worst teams in the league.  He saw a way to get an advantage and took it, too.

Yeah, not so much. Nice try, though.

Hmm this is a good idea. Im commish in my league and I see there is no rule about me changing the schedule. It's not against the rules like @SCT says so any advantage I can get!

Why stop at changing the schedule?  The rules do not explicitly forbid me as commish from making trades with other rosters, changing team’s starting lineups, and even editing past scores (on MFL anyway).  How have I not seen the wisdom of going 16-0 every season against rosters full of players on byes before this thread showed me the light?

Agree with the bolded.  Is your fishing trip close to over with?

Actually, it would technically be a rule change, and we don't allow those in the middle of the season. Does your dumb league allow rule changes in the middle of the season to suit someone's whims? If so, I would find another league.

Yep.  The fantasy football gods come back to bite you.

I'd say this is  :fishing: but I know dbags like this exist and think they're totally justified. It's nice that the FF sites have taken the right step to help stem the tide of dbaggery.

I guess I'll pile on and say that picking up and dropping players just so no on else can pick them up is a #### move.  Every league I am in banned that move years ago (and if anyone tries it, they are not asked back to play again).

Who remembers things like this? Oh back in aught four I was playing in this very specific league amongst the dozens and dozens I’ve played in since then. You and the OP (the “two” of you) should go become fiction writers and troll the fan fiction threads of reddit.

Real question: when will the admin of this board give a flying #### about pissing in the SP and troll accounts again? All they apparently care about is Lev’eon Bell and bent feelings of staff hoax accounts.

I had a feeling I could guess the OP's political leaning.  Based on this post, I think I'd have nailed it.

Deplorable.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions.  Was listening to Footballers podcast yesterday and an email question was about if it's wrong to add guys you weren't intending to start just to block your opponent from getting them.  The unanimous response was "no, it's a strategy and it's within the rules".

Was listening to fantasy focus podcast this morning.....Berry needed to add a QB....Secret Squirrel, who is 1-9 and doesn't care about his team anymore added the maximum number of QBs his roster rules would allow of the wire so to screw over Berry and they weren't even playing each other.  Everybody got a big laugh out of it.  LIghten up.
In regards to your OP--it's a bush league move that was not intended for the spirit of your league.  Just because something might be allowed doesn't mean that it should be utilized.

A team owner that is 1-9 goes out of his way to add the maximum number of qbs on his roster to screw over a team that he's not even going against?  That smells of possible collusion to me.   It's cool that they laughed about it--but if I was the commish of that league--the owner that did that would not be invited back next season.

As bad as that is (and you're right, it's terrible), at least that owner had to sacrifice roster spots to hold that maximum number of QBs, so it's still a step above the churning the OP wanted to be able to do.
