I'm interested to find this out also...

While some people seem to skip breakfast to help watch (or lose) their weight, I don't think that's sustainable long-term.  There are lots of studies suggesting the best way to manage your weight is to never starve your body, but rather keep you metabolism going as much as possible, which starts with small meals in the AM and thru the day.  Even something as simple as drinking some warm water in the shower is enough to get your metabolism going in the morning.
Disagree with this.  I think there is a lot of weight behind the intermittent fasting idea (IF).  It works gangbusters on the Keto diet to melt the weight off.

I also think there is no set science behind the various theories of a bunch of small meals, fewer larger meals, fasting etc.  I think everyone responds to different methods differently.  I know I for one, once I have that first meal of the day, I am hungry the rest of the day.  For example, I could wake up, having nothing but coffee until lunch, and not be starving at lunch.  On the other hand, I could wake up and have steak and eggs, and biscuits and gravy and stuff myself crazy, and I'd be hungry well before lunch time (same goes for having an actual reasonable healthy breakfast).  Some people can't wait until lunch time to eat, so it doesn't work for them.  Different strokes for different folks.

IF is absolutely worth doing. Getting yourself into a fasted state is great for you body. It cleans up dead cells and improves your gut microbiome. When I'm strict IF, I'll not eat after dark and my next meal is lunch the following day. I've worked that up to doing one 20-48 hour fasts weekly. Fasting and starving your body is one of the best things to do to it for cell repair. I've been skipping breakfast since January and it(breakfast) usually doesn't even sound good anymore because I'm never hungry in the morning.

how's your overall health?
Haven't had bloodwork done in several years, so I can only estimate.  Overall I would say I am in average health, or at least as good as someone age 44 can hope for who doesn't exercise very much.  Blood pressure is consistently in the 120/80 range.  6' 175 currently, hoping to get down to 165ish after the holidays are over.

typically nothing until I get to the office (when I had an office :kicksrock:  ) at 9am- then have yogurt or steelcut oats and fruit. another piece of fruit or nuts around 11. lunch around 12:30, another snack fruit/nuts or just coffee around 3:30 and then dinner around 7-8 after I get home. gallon of ice cream before bed plus 4-9 situps.

Typical days I wake up at about 4:15am and then eat shortly afterwards. I have to be at work at 6am, anyway.

Don't eat breakfast, just never been hungry in the AM.  All I need is a couple cups of coffee to start my day.  I have a light lunch, either soup or salad, and a full meal when I get home for dinner.

I would put my health at above average.

I usually show up to work late and than hit the downtown tunnels to find a spot to eat. So usually like 8:30-8:45

Does a protein shake count as "eating"?

If so then yes, I eat before 8am.

Start every morning with a whole squeezed lemon with hot water as soon as I get out of bed.

Have a protein shake while I drive to work.  Have a yogurt or banana around 9:30-10am, Lunch at 11:30-12.

Dinner about 6:30pm

Usually wake up before 430, drink coffee and eat a banana or apple, take a poop by 5. Go lift for 30 minutes, walk upstairs to work. Eat eggs and yogurt while signing in.

I'm cutting the coffee going forward but I usually like it because it helps me ?.

So I'm eating 2 breakfasts before 8.

Is the lemon necessary? I can get behind the rest of this but what does the lemon add?

Nothing is necessary ... I just prefer it. Seems to get my body functioning faster than the plain water. Besides, what's wrong with a shot of vitamin C to start the day?

Not much of a coffee drinker, and this seems to give me the energy I need first thing in the morning.

Nothing wrong for sure, just wondering if it has nutritional / digestive benefits other than the vitamin C.

involuntarily skipped breakfast this morning

slept in because my morning routine changed this week with the kids on break. threw me out of whack. when i should have been eating, i was shaving. when i went to step out the door, i realized my car wasn't running. dead battery.

half hour late to work, spent the morning catching up on emails/voicemails/people dropping by to fill me in on what i missed after having been out since Thursday last week. before i realized it.. 11 AM and i'm flagging badly but can't figure out wtf is going on.

mostly caught up now. ate a late lunch. just finished.

immediately feeling better.

not sure how you people skip breakfast

Banana and granola bar on the way to work.  I wish I could say that was always before 8:00 AM.  And about 17 cups of coffee by noon.

If I'm working from home I end up having a few bowls of high fiber cereal and end up taking a #### every 90 minutes.
might want to take it easy on the coffee brah...unless you are drinking the good stuff.

You're a #####

Typical day:

5am: Wake up, oatmeal and glass of water

5:30am: workout

6:30am: Protein shake

11am: lunch

3pm: snack

6pm: dinner
This sounds like an ideal schedule.

I'm nowhere close to that. Setting the restaurant up first thing so we're ready to serve for lunch. I might can throw something down by 2:00 but often wait until after that, almost never stop during hours so it's more a series of snacks.

Chose the snacking option. I get to work around 8. I make oatmeal for the week on Sunday so the portion I brought in i pop in the microwave while I get everything in order to start the day. When I go get it i pop in a half bagel I toasted at home for a few seconds then sit down with the half bagel, oatmeal, and banana. Usually finish them all in the 10's them retire to the can and think about how much more I need to eat before the lunch workout. Get that ready on the way back from the can before I get distracted again.

I've figured out how to navigate around 10 am meetings or later but 9 am' s are the devil.

Intermittent fasting is great. I've done 12-8 for two years now. Fantastic and you can't eat enough to get fat.
